  • "Excellent accommodation."

Particularly impressed with high quality kitchen appliances and roman blinds. Everything is of a really high standard. Visited; Cotswold Distillery, Broadway, Stow-on-the-Wold, attempted and aborted a visit to Bourton-on-the-Water - no parking available, Batsford Arboretum and the Village Café for fine dining. Not forgetting a visit to Cheltenham race course via the GWSR form Broadway.

  • "Cosy, comfy bed."

Peaceful & quiet nights sleep. Wonderful bath to soak away the aches from the lovely walks we were able to access. Thank you so much for all the information, maps and directions which we found so useful. Beautiful garden in which to enjoy our evening G&T’s (before the rain!). We thoroughly enjoyed our stay finishing with a night in, rain pouring outside, log fire burning inside = Perfect!

  • "We loved our stay at Bracken Cottage."

It was perfect for my wife and me and our infant son. It is charming and well-appointed with a lovely back-yard. Parking was easy across the street. It's less than a 300 meter walk downhill to the village cafe. We would stay there again without hesitation.

  • "Great place for some “R&R”, as well as exploring the delightful towns nearby."

Blockley is quiet and not touristy, but full of charm, and the locals are very friendly. Also the Great Western has excellent food, as does the local cafe, and the village shop has an amazing array of stock. Bracken Cottage is so quaint, warm and sunny. It has a really comfortable bed and lovely linens.

  • "The cottage was an amazing experience we truly enjoyed it."

Everything was perfect! The views and the garden were magical. The village it’s in is quiet and picturesque. I can’t wait to come back! The beds were so comfortable and we got the best sleep of our lives. There really isn’t a bad thing about this place. The host was also very helpful and communicative throughout the stay. One of the best places I’ve stayed at.

  • "We loved the cottage, very well equipped and cosy."

We were very lucky with the weather, we walked to Batsford Arboretum, one of the most beautiful gardens we’ve ever seen!!! Visited Bourton-on-the-Water and Burford but being bank holiday Sunday it was heaving with people (not our gig). Stunning Friday dinner at the local café and Sunday roast at The Chequers in Churchill – lovely cat next door, terrified of the baby! We will definitely recommend you cottage to friends! Xxx

Well equipped with everything we needed. Nice garden, table & bench for eating outside. Village quite steep in places, lovely to walk around.

  • "The cottage was lovely and cosy, we enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed."

Visited Bourton on the Water, Chipping Campden, Broadway Tower and had a wonderful day in Stratford. Walked the ‘Blockley Village’ 1-mile route – really interesting, all the watermills and little brooks. Lovely meal at Great Western Arms. Great views all around, liked the quietness, bird song, a real getaway. Beds are comfy, lovely soft towels and nice garden.

About the location

BLOCKLEY

Moreton-in-Marsh 3 miles; Bourton-on-the-Water 11 miles; Cheltenham 22 miles.

An ancient village once famous for its silk and corn mills, Blockley lies just 3 miles from Moreton-in-Marsh and features a unique collection of honey-coloured buildings with a pretty village green, two excellent pubs, serving hearty food and real ale, as well as a village store and café, serving dinner on a Friday night. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of the village, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way and the Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close by. Very close by, Moreton-in-Marsh boasts many elegant 18th century buildings and is home to traditional inns, tea rooms, restaurants and individual shops to suit all tastes. It also offers its own train station and lies on the intersection of the Paddington rail line from London. The town hosts the Moreton-In-Marsh Show, one of the UK's largest one-day agricultural shows, as well as the Moreton Beer Festival, an annual French Market, and a large outdoor market every Tuesday. The highest town in the Cotswolds, this ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. Close by is Bourton-on-the-Water, which lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is known as the Venice of the Cotswolds as the River Windrush runs through the centre. Also within reach is the spa town of Cheltenham, boasting an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, as well as being famous for its horseracing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within driving distance, making Blockley a great base for a Cotswolds holiday.
