"Lovely, cosy, comfortable cottage set in a pretty Cotswold village."
Good location for visiting local attractions and other interesting towns and villages. Parking space a bit tight so parked round the corner no problem. Nice local pub.
Thank you for your feedback and we are so pleased to see you had a fantastic stay at Jackdaw Cottage. We agree this property is lovely and central and we hope to welcome you back again soon! Property Owner

"Lovely little cosy cottage work very good local pub 100 metres away."
Nice log burner, good beds, modern bathroom with very good shower. Little garden at front of the cottage with a bench. Roadside parking 10 metres away recommended as small parking area at side of cottage is difficult for anything but a very small car. Would return.

"This is a beautiful, mostly comfortable cottage."
The beds were comfortable. The sofas and armchairs were comfortable. The bathroom was spacious and had a good-sized shower cubible with good water pressure. Wifi coverage in the house was good. The fridge is only a small larder fridge, so don't buy too much food. We stayed here for a week in January and found the house quite cold even with all of the electric heaters switched on. We definitely needed to put the fire on. A basket was full of logs when we arrived, which was enough for fires on two afternoons - although we were not supplied with any fire lighters so had to go buy our own. Many cottages provide a welcome pack of say a pint of milk and a pack of biscuits, but none was provided here - so make sure you bring whatever you need to make a tea or coffee.
Most cottages have instructions on recycling, but there were none here. I would have liked instructions in the manual on recycling. I did have a question for the company that manages the cottage: there's a name and mobile phone number prominently displayed in the cottage. I texted the number on Saturday and had yet to receive a reply 6 days later - so I was disappointed by the customer service provided by the company that manages the cottage.
However, the property itself was clean and comfortable. The local pub was buzzy and had a simple but good menu. The local cafe was dog friendly downstairs. The NISA shop next door to the cafe had a decent range of products at reasonable prices, too. Overall, we enjoyed our trip very much.
Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

"It was an absolute pleasure to stay at this wonderful cosy cottage."
The cottage itself was lovely, clean and the Christmas lights and decorations were a great and unexpected touch. The location was perfect. The local pub is a minutes walk and the local shop and cafe were also walking distance. I stayed at the cottage with my 9 year old daughter and neither of us wanted to leave! Will definitely be back! :)

"Lovely cottage in the Cotswold."
Very nice location in Blockley, close to the village center, few meters from the pub. Village in the north of Cotswold not far from the other nice historic villages.
The cottage is confortable, and calm. A beat cold the first two days, and then OK.
The beds are very confortable, and the rooms a good size.
The equipment of the cottage are minimalist and low quality (Ikea for most of them). Only 4 forks, 4 plates, ... which oblige to run the washing machine after each meal.
Owner let logs for 2 days only and then recommend to buy more, Taking into account the price of the rent, it would have been expected to leave more logs (even if logs are cheap).
Character cottages has a nice choice of cottages, but the client service support is very poor, and for some period of time outsourced to another company very unprofessional. They did not recognized the reservation number communicated by Character cottages, and stated that they have "+ 20 cottages with the same name" ?! it took 10mn to find my reservation.
Thank you for your feedback regarding your stay at Jackdaw. I will pass on your comments about only 4 plates etc to the owner, but as a rule we advise owners to have enough for double the occupancy. With regards to logs, we do normally only provide a starter pack of logs, but you can buy logs at pretty much any petrol station in the Cotswolds. With regards to our customer service, we pride ourselves in providing a very good level or service and as a rule we do provide this. Unfortunately it sounds like when you spoke to Reservations, it was when we where integrating Character Cottages bookings onto our new system, hence booking numbers would be different. Apologises if it took time to find your booking, but we all have to learn the new process. We hope to welcome you back again in the future and with a smoother booking process for you. Property Owner

"Arrived at the cottage on possibly the one and only day in June that was warm and sunny."
Didn't quite know what to expect - they always look better in the photos when you book them, well the photos didn't do it justice, it was absolutely beautiful (would love to live in it) it was spotless, a lot larger than I thought it would be, furnishing were great, comfy sofas, such comfortable beds. Had everything and more. We had a wonderful time there in Blockley which is possibly one of the most beautiful places to stay/visit in the Cotswolds, over the years we have stayed in numerous places but this is definitely the best. Eating out is a must, we really enjoyed the meals at the Great Western - super close - just a few yards up the road - very welcome after such long and lovely walks all around the area, it was good to come back in the evening, settle down in our own little home, all comfy - we feel rejuvenated especially after lock down - thank you - we will definitely be back.

"An idyllic place to stay in the heart of the Cotswolds."
Lovely hosts who left some treats for our arrival. Super comfortable beds and great communal areas. We also enjoyed the small room just off the living room which our 3 year old loved as a play room. Highly recommend the pub nearby (2 min walk).

"Jackdaw cottage was a great place for five old friends to enjoy one of our regular reunions which we’ve celebrated for forty years since we all met at college."
It was cosy and comfortable and we spent three entertaining days chewing the fat, reminiscing, and putting the world to rights. Sometimes we even broke our own veto and discussed Brexit but by and large it was a harmonious gathering. Given the time of year it was surprisingly chilly at times outside but the interior of the cottage was toasty warm. All in all a very pleasant experience, facilitated with understanding by our hosts. It is in such a gorgeous location. The cottage was very comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay - really well kitted out!! We loved the welcome bottle of wine and lovely biscuits which were really welcome after our very long drive. It was the perfect place to base ourselves for a long weekend exploring the Cotswolds, and we're only sorry we couldn't stay longer.

"Lovely characterful place in a beautiful village."
Really comfy beds and a nice fire, though we didn't get to use it much as weren't back in time most evenings! We were there one of the coldest weeks of the year but the place was fine once we'd got it heated up initially. Cottage looked great in the snow! Friendly locals in the pub.

"Everything about the cottage was superb for my purpose."
The cottage is about five minutes’ walk from my house and so it was ideal for me to hire for my son, daughter-in-law and small grandchild to stay in while visiting us and other relatives. My son and family live in South Korea. The cottage was most convenient in every respect and a very good centre for people visiting the Cotswolds on holiday. Although my son and family were on holiday, they were not here as Cotswold tourists. The owner of the cottage, with whom I have become acquainted, was absolutely superb and very, very helpful and understanding of my needs. For example, I asked if I could provide a stair gate to protect my grandchild and he insisted on providing one for us at no extra charge. I cannot speak too highly of the facilities and equipment which the cottage provided. My son and family were thoroughly at home there and I would certainly hire it again if the occasion arose.
