  • "Nice place."

Shame there was no proper shower on the 2nd floor. Also the heating didn't seem to be working on the top floor so it was a bit cold. Was a bit annoying that there were no provisions in the kitchen e.g. salt, pepper, olive oil etc... Also I think there is a problem with the oven door - it doesn't seem to close properly. Aside from that we had a good time and blockley was a lovely village and thanks.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We have passed your comments onto the owner, we hope these did not impact your stay. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay and the lovely village of Blockley. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Had a lovely stay at North End House."

Plenty of room and facilities for the 3 couples that stayed. Beds lovely and comfortable. Only issue could of done with a shower curtain or screen within the bathroom with the shower in the bath. As floor got wet and my partner slipped on the wet floor. Other than this had a fantastic stay and in a lovely village in a great location as other sights to see were all with in a half hour car ride or closer. The village has 2 pubs which was great. The Great Western is a lovely pub and nice food but a bit noisy. The Crown inn is also a lovely pub and serves lovely food with excellent staff that could not do enough for you. There is a little shop in the village that sells everything you need. Would highly recommend a stay at North End House.

  • "Thank you for sharing your cottage."

What a beautiful house. We had Yorkshire and Kent families coming together so it was an ideal base to visit my favourite area of the Cotswolds. The garden was lovely and despite the unseasonable July weather we did manage to make use of the table for breakfast. Some upgrades for me based on what we paid and other homes I have stayed in that would make a big difference. The dining chairs were not comfortable to sit on for any more than 1hr. Could you supply some seat pads? I used the large en-suite shower bedroom. The mattress topper was so thin it made no impact, every ridge from the two mattresses pushed together was felt and uncomfortable. All other beds were fine. The recycling and cleaning instructions were far too complicated. We could not find coloured bags as you suggested or split the rubbish out correctly. This could be easier with a container under the sink with labels and some additional rubbish containers outside. The above would not stop me making good recommendations but would have improved our experience. Thank you for sharing your home.

Thank you for your feedback and suggestions. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Best wishes, Character Cottages Property Owner

We thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas at North End House. The house is well furnished with extremely comfortable beds. Parking at the back is excellent. We cooked a fair bit during our stay and the kitchen was easy to use. The cooker took a while to come up to temperature but worked well. To improve it further some more and matching serving dishes could be added. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Thank you for this lovely review. We're delighted you enjoyed Christmas a North End House and found it to be so comfortable and well-equipped. We will pass on your suggestions to the owner and hope to welcome you again in the future. Character Cottages Property Owner

  • "We enjoyed a beautiful garden (Hidcote), the amazing collection of a wonderful eccentric (Snowshill Manor), an atmospheric Roman Villa (Chedworth), and an imposing Jacobean Manor (Chastleton)."

Walks were made even more special by beautiful fields of red poppies and white camomile flowers. The house is comfortable and spacious and situated in a lovely village with a great shop and the Great Western Arms was visited twice for meals. We loved sitting out in the garden for breakfast and dinner, keeping an eye on the collared dove chicks in a nest in the tree by the front door. We even met a lady whose family lived in North End House, and whose mother was born there! Many thanks for the welcome Champagne – much enjoyed and much appreciated.

Flying in from states we really appreciated the little things that were provided as a starter kit such as toilet rolls, trash bags, washing up liquid, kitchen roll etc. these were a great help. We were very happy with the house and facilities. Beautiful village with lots of great hikes.

Fantastic house and lovely village. Enjoyed hiking the public footpaths every morning, through the sheep and cows, surviving the field of bulls. Hiked to Batsford to enjoy falconry centre. Highly recommend the local café and The Great Western Arms. House had everything we needed. Loved the outdoors on sunny days. Great area with so much to see – we will have to come back. • "Apologies forthe late feedback - we stayed 1/4 to the 8/4 and while the house ..."

Apologies forthe late feedback - we stayed 1/4 to the 8/4 and while the house was very impressive and in a great location there were a few disappointing features that could not really be rectified in the week - but I still wanted to bring these to your attention The heating in certain rooms did not work - the master bedbroom and the TV room downstairs - the valves were either seized or there was some air lock - We were in the house with my elderley parents who did not want the fuss of getting someone into fix the problem while we were staying - luckily the weather was not too cold so we did manage to survive - but the TV room was freezing There were no instructions to clearly say how the heating thermostat worked as well The upstairs TV room had no instruction how to use this TV and the TV was not even connectedto an aerial - this room was very dark and could have been a real asset to the house but was neglected and uncomfortable The house also had a problem with woodlice - as they kept appearing in every room - again another problem not easily solved - this was really not up to standard in a house that cost that amount for a week We felt the kitchen was poorly equipped for a house this size - not enough saucepans / tea cups - no small sharp knives - the oven door did not close effectively The house book was not upto date so we had no real idea of when the bin day was and had been left with all the previous week rubbish and we then had to leave with all our recycling stoered hoping the the next guest would make sure it was collected There were bathmats missing in one room and the upstairs shower door did not close properly Overall for the type of house and the price we expected the standard to be higher

Thank you for providing this feedback and we're glad that you liked the house and location. We really appreciate your honesty on issues you encountered during your stay. We were reliably informed by the housekeeper that clear instructions were in a folder which was left open for your arrival and that this included details of how the heating is controlled, information on recycling, and how to work the television. There are over 20 mugs and 8 coffee cups, together with a tea set and we consider the utensils provided to be more than adequate. We have checked and the shower door is closing properly. Old houses in the country do occasionally attract woodlice, particularly in damp weather, but we check regularly and are always as vigilant as possible. W.e hope this didn't impact too much on your time at North End House and believe you would have had a much more pleasant stay, and had these issues resolved straightaway, had you made one call to the housekeeper about the folder of instructions. The property

This wonderfully presented, three-storey holiday home, North End House, is nestled in the heart of the peaceful village of Blockley.

The property has an abundance of stunning character features thanks to its late Georgian design and dates back to 1865, where it was one used as a regular meeting house for the village’s silk mill workers who lived in the terraced cottages further up the road.

The dwelling provides the perfect getaway for a gathering of friends or family who are looking for a luxurious base from which to explore the Cotswolds.

Be welcomed onto the property by three off-road parking spaces, before unloading your luggage through the ornate cast iron porch and into the bright and airy entrance hall, which gives access to the spacious reception room to your right, where you can relax with your loved ones on the four-seater or two-seater sofa’s and listen to your favourite songs through the Bluetooth speaker as the gentle glow from the electric stove-effect fire that sits within the beautiful marble mantlepiece sets a warming tone to the room and keeps you toasty on a cold evening.

Further down the hall is the homely sitting room containing a three-seater sofa and mid-century high back wing armchair for you and your loved ones to sink into after a long day of exploring the Cotswolds, whilst catching up on your favourite show on the Smart TV.

Completing this side of the ground-floor is a handy utility space with an adjoining cloakroom.

The budding chef of the group will be delighted with the stunning farmhouse style kitchen that contains everything required to cook up a delicious, heart-warming meal, to be enjoyed gathered around the dining table surrounded by stunning features such as exposed Cotswold stone chimney breast, cherub chandelier and Edwardian antique chapel dining chairs, as well as a Cotswold stone fireplace housing an ornamental stove.

When the night draws to a close, make your way up the staircase which splits two ways; through a privacy curtain to your left, you will discover the pleasing king-size bedroom, complete with ample hanging space that sits adjacent to the stylish bathroom and further up the stairs, you will pass the study which is a peaceful room, perfect for relaxing with a compelling novel sat at the plush velvet sofa, overlooking the garden, and the super-king-size room that houses a unique four-poster bed, and has a cleverly designed dressing room with ample storage space and an en-suite shower room with a large walk-in rain shower.

A further staircase leads up the second-floor, where the king-size and twin rooms are located, both beautifully decorated, and share their floor with a shower room in the centre.

In the morning, treat you and your guests to an awakening beverage using the filter coffee machine, to be enjoyed outside in the picture-perfect south-facing garden, surrounded by a large lawn area bordered by leafy shrubs, low hedges and mature trees, and a large patio with two seating areas; one with an inviting lounge area with two large three-seater sofas and the other with an outdoor table with seating for eight.

Be sure to make use of the charcoal barbecue and dine alfresco in the warm summer months.

When you’re ready to head out for the day, start in the picturesque village of Blockley which has a country pub, The Great Western Arms, a historic Norman church, Church of St Peter and St Paul, and the popular community owned shop and café which serves delicious food during the day and hosts a couple of dinner evenings too.

Surrounded by wonderful countryside, there are many walks and cycle routes on its doorstep including The Monarch’s Way long distance walking trail which passes through the village and can be followed either north to Chipping Campden or up and over the ridge towards Moreton-in-Marsh, skirting the fringes of Batsford Arboretum which is a 56-acre garden with trees and shrubs from around the world in the plant centre and a café.

At North End House, you are close to the bustling market town of Stow-on-the-Wold where you can take a walk around the market square, which is the heart of the community and offers boutique shops, tea rooms, pubs and restaurants, as well as the Farmers’ Market which occurs every second Thursday of each month, featuring inviting local produce.

For a holiday you and your loved ones will cherish forever, stay at North End House.
