"The cottage has the potential to be amazing and we were really looking forward to our break in the Cotswolds."
The beds were comfortable and the kitchen well equipped.
However, we found a clearly long dead mouse on our 3rd evening and the en suite bathroom window also virtually fell apart (seriously, it was really dangerous). I called the owner who said he was aware of the window issue (so why didn't it say don't open on it?) but that he was in London and that he would get the manager to deal with the mouse. It was eventually done 2 evenings later! Nothing was done about the window during the remainder of our 7 night stay.
We also found mouse droppings in the crockery cupboard on the crockery! We know it's the countryside, however.....
We assume that cleaners are paid to clean the property. Each of the four of us got a faceful of cobwebs in the first few days. There is a lot of dust on most things and cobwebs everywhere. Any cleaning is clearly very superficial with dead woodlice along the edges of skirting boards alongside the dust.
We think there must be a wasp nest somewhere at the top of the house judging by the amount of, thankfully sleepy, wasps that appeared in the upstairs living room each day.
Hot water was great in the sinks everywhere, but very intermittent in the showers. The main dining room was also very cold (yes, we were wearing jumpers!) and it appeared that most of the radiators were stuck on off . We spent most evenings pretty cold.
The conservatory was a haven of warmth when we got back from walking each day whilst the sun was still shining. For info, there is a plant growing between the wall and conservatory frame which might cause some damage.
A real shame as it looked like and could be a great place to stay

We thank you for your feedback and would comment as below, it is gratifying that you feel the cottage is amazing with which we would agree but it is a 17th 18th century building and not a modern super pristine flat development, cobwebs are therefore sometimes difficult nae impossible to permanently erase although we do our best after each letting but will try even harder. We do also apologise for not leaving a note that the window was due to be replaced which it was on the day after you left together with the other bathroom window so they are now newly modernised and in good order. We have also checked the radiators and found them all to be working satisfactorily the heating control is on the ground floor and is in good working order. We would also point out that there is also a wood-burning stove with plenty of wood and equipment which could have been used if you felt unable to satisfactorily activate the system. As you point out this is a country cottage and at this time of year wasps are sometimes a problem but as soon as we discovered that there was one forming in the roof space the contractor was called and it was removed within 24 hours if there were some spare wasps around we can only and do apologise for that . Overall thank you for your feedback we shall continue to strive and keep this quaint and amazing cottage in good working and comfortable order and please be assured that your comments have been duly noted and acted upon

"Beautiful cottage, really suited our needs."
Too many woodlice (to be expected in an older property ??) could put a
few people off, spoilt our stay a little as we had to put bug powder down (good job we didn't have children with us) and then vacuum each time we returned to the property.This also made us realise how much build up of dust, cobwebs, old tissues and dead bugs there were behind the beds and moveable furniture . Property just needs a bit of a deep clean and maybe investigate more with the woodlice because it is a fabulous cosy large cottage situated in a beautiful hamlet .

We are delighted that you found the cottage nearly to your entire satisfaction it is indeed a beautiful cottage and because of its age we do sometimes have an issue with woodlice on the top floor. They of course not a health hazard but they do tend to creep around and hide away . We do our best to eliminate them as far as possible and will continue to take positive action. The cottage as will be apparent is a quaint 16th/17th century dwelling and although it is modernised in most areas spiders et cetera are always around but as I say we are always removing them before new tenants arrive. Nevertheless we find it encouraging that you felt it was a fabulously cosy large cottage and hope that you did indeed enjoy your stay and might come again

"The cottage is ideally located in a stunning part of the Cotswolds, with good parking and only a short stroll to the common and local pub (great food and stunning views)."
It has all that you need from a holiday let, but the décor and furniture is a little tired, and there was dust on the shelves where the glasses were found. The window to the ensuite toilet looked near to falling out, the shower door was not easy to open/close, and the overall feel was that the cottage hadn't been loved in a while. However, we did really love our stay, and with a proper refresh this cottage would be a real diamond!
Thank you for your comments as soon as we discovered that the window into the ensuite was failing we have ordered a new one which has now been installed together with the other window to the adjoining bathroom. As we have explained this is the 16th 17th century cottage and the presence of spiders is very difficult to control that we do our best as we do with all other problems associated with such an old cottage and we shall do our best to ensure that should you come again you will think that the cottage is in fact a real diamond

The toilet in the bathroom didn't always flush properly

We have checked this matter with the cleaner and I think the problem is the fact that we do have some wood lice which emanate from the roof space, they do not caused any physical or health damage and we do our best to remove them after each letting and will always do so

"Little End is in a quiet lane which at first sight looks very narrow but after driving in once we found it very easy to park in the large space next to the cottage."
The location is very quiet but is not far from amenities in Nailsworth and Stroud and it is very convenient for walks on the common. The accommodation is very spacious and is equipped with all the facilities we wanted.

"Although the property was very nice, I think a more precise description of where it is would be desirable, as not everyone would be happy with the narrow rough roads."
Regarding the "cottage", we could not find any key to unlock the back gate.
The plug in the washbasin needs fixing as it does not hold the water, it seeps away very quickly.
Finally, I think the downstairs room needs better lighting facilities as it is quite dark even with the lights on that are there.
Other than that it was fine.

One of the problems with an old country cottage is of course the ability of cobwebs to occur and although the building is thoroughly cleaned after each visit and it is thoroughly cleaned, and in spite of anti-spider spray where ever we can ,it is one of the problems which we find difficult to eliminate completely. Fortunately they do not harm anybody and in our experience of owning the property for 23 years have never spoilt our occupation of the cottage. Nevertheless we will continue to make efforts to reduce its their potential nuisance; I hope otherwise, that you enjoyed your stay.

"We really enjoyed our stay at Little End and it worked really well for our group of 5 friends, all travelling from different directions."
We managed to squeeze a third 3 car outside the house (blocking in the other two) but there's space to park on the road nearby as well.
The house is very spacious and the Kitchen was well-equipped to cook for everyone. The main bathroom shower cubical is a little cramped but there's plenty of pressure and hot water. Comfy beds and clean linen too (though I found the thick duvet warm for the time of year). The rear courtyard was a very pleasant spot for lunch and drinks on a warm day in late Spring. The green to the front of the house currently says no entry but there's a bench at the top of the hill with a views over the hills which we enjoyed at sunset. The nearby town of Nailsworth is good to wander and has some nice places to eat. I'm sure there's much to discover in the area but sadly we weren't there for very long.
The house probably doesn't get a deep clean too often but I found it perfectly acceptable, especially for this kind of country stay. We weren't expecting (and nor did we want) luxury. But maybe pack your slippers if you don't want your socks to get grubby on the hard floors. I/we wouldn't hesitate to come back for another visit.

"Lovely, comfortable, Cotswold cottage."
We loved the large dining table and setup downstairs which was ideal for families. Although the additional staircase to the first floor twin bedroom was strange. The sofa downstairs was very dusty which caused some problems with allergies.

"Lovely cottage, lots of space for a larger family."
Main complaint is that there were well established cobwebs everywhere which clearly meant it hadn't been properly cleaned in a while. A number of guests had previously commented in house book that a deep clean was needed also. Large daddylonglegs needing removal which scared my daughter out of the bathroom and meant she didn't sleep well the first night. Also bit of a surprise to find one bedroom had staircase to it which meant it was "open" which again could be slightly off-putting to some so ought to be made clear.

"Property manager very responsive to communication, extensive information available about how the various appliances work, the rubbish and recycling facilities etc."
Property was spacious and comfortable with lots of seating and storage options, though one bedroom isn't particularly private with stairs straight down the living area.
Access is steep and narrow, and parking wouldn't be possible for more than 1 big car.

"This feels like a lovely much loved family cottage which now could do with some attention to beds and sofas."
As said by others cleanliness was an issue with particularly terrible sticky scum in the ensuite shower room. That said, once I had cleaned the bathrooms we had a super week in an idyllic spot, with evening drinks over on St Chloe green, a fab pub garden just up the hill and also recommend wine tour at Woodchester valley winery.

"The cottage was lovely."
It was in a great location. We did some really nice walks from our doorstep. It was lovely to see cows roaming freely across the common.
The house was perfect. Large rooms and utensils in the kitchen included everything we could think of. The upstairs lounge was a great place to relax at the end of the day.
The only thing that let it down was the level of cleaning. We spent out first hour giving the kitchen a good clean down. The floors had obviously been cleaned but surfaces were grubby and sticky in places. Switches has marks on them which was disappointing in these 'covid-19' times. The floors in the bedrooms had been vacuumed but around the radiators had obviously not been cleaned for a long time. It made us wonder how many hours of cleaning are done each week. Maybe a team of cleaners are required every month or so to carry out a deep clean.
We would hate to put anyone off renting the house because it really is a great holiday home but could be made perfect with a good clean.

"The cottage was perfect, could not have asked for a better cottage to stay in the Cotswolds and would definitely recommend and would like to stay again!"
It is cozy, comfortable, amazing location, spacious, great garden and perfect for our stay. The kitchen had all the necessary things and we enjoyed making breakfast and dinner at the cottage. So 100% for the cottage! We enjoyed many walks, morning runs, a trip to the pubs nearby and just relaxing at the cottage and watching a film in the evenings in the upstairs lounge area.
Few points to note why it is not full marks... but minor points and just to stress again that we definitely had an amazing holiday!
1) One of the windows was broken and did not close once we opened it, but we notified the property manager so this should be fixed now.
2) The single beds were quite old and was noted to be quite uncomfortable to sleep on (old mattress), might be time to get new beds?
3) There are lots of bugs (woodlice especially) that comes into the house and so guests should be prepared for that (in the summer time). We were fine with them but just to note for those who may not like bugs).
4) The property manager came to the house the day before we checked out to leave some things for the cleaners, but we were not given any pre notice of this. I think there should have been a courtesy email or call at least. Also, we were given notice to take our shoes off inside (which we had been doing during the stay), but the property manager did not take her shoes off. As it was noted shoes off to lessen the chance of COVID coming into the house, the property manager not to follow the rules that was set for us seemed a bit unprofessional.
5) The property manager called after we checked out and was a bit rude regarding the key and where it had been left. Not a very pleasant feeling after a lovely holiday. I understand that she could not be available on the check out day, but that should not be a reason to blame the guests! Better/clearer instructions on where exactly the key should have been left would have been helpful (especially if the property manager was not available on that day).
But these are only points to note to improve the experience. Overall we loved staying at the cottage and definitely will stay again! Would like to thank the owner of Little End for sharing their lovely home with us! Highly recommended!

G. cobwebs, grime around some window frames, etc. On a separate note, we were surprised one day to find two people working in the garden, it would have been courteous to have been told to expect this. These were minor negative points in what was otherwise a very enjoyable stay.
