Close by, Newent has many individual shops, great pubs, quaint tea rooms and an old market hall, all located on the northern edge of the Royal Forest of Dean, where any outdoor activities can be enjoyed, including lovely walks and cycling routes.

Further afield you can enjoy more tranquil walks along the Severn Way and Gloucestershire Way which are accessible via a short car journey, or if you are happy to travel just a little further again, why not visit the beautiful spa town of Cheltenham, for a calming treatment or just to explore the pretty town for its charming architecture.

Spend an afternoon sampling wine at one of the local vineyards, Three Choirs Vineyard or Strawberry Hill Vineyard, before heading back to Newent centre for a dinner in one of the traditional pubs such as Black Dog Pub, serving traditional pub meals along with a takeaway and a Sunday menu.

For the animal lovers, the International Centre for Bird of Prey, home to over 60 species of owls, hawks and eagles or perhaps one of the local National Trust properties for a touch of history.

One of the most attractive market towns in the Vale of Leadon, Newent, formerly a Roman settlement, offers a wide range of attractions, including the half timbered Old Market Hall dating back to 1668, traditional inns, restaurants, tea rooms and individual shops.
