  • "Lovely week away and the house was cosy, clean and homely."

Kitchen had most things available, although we couldn’t find a potato peeler, an extra pan or two would be useful (when cooking for a family), and a decent pair of scissors would be appreciated! A washing line would be great too in summer, found pegs and maiden but not a line. Blackout curtains in the front bedroom would be good too, mainly for the fact that we had our baby with us in there. Back bedroom was lovely and dark. Overall though we were really comfortable and the views are fantastic. House was easy to find, and there is loads to do in the area. For those coming with kids the park in Malvern is fantastic! We would definitely return and stay in Yew Tree Cottage, thanks for a lovely week away.

  • "The property is very clean quite hard to find."

The furniture though old is very nice and fits lovely in the house. Milk tea bags coffee towels tea towels washing up liquid supplied. My opinion is the bathroom is tired and could do with black out blinds in the bedroom. I would recommend this place

It was just as described and was a lovely place to stay. Amazing walks are minutes away and also lots of good places to eat. We all agreed that a few days were not enough to see enough of the area and we’re definitely coming back sometime.

  • "The cottage is very well situated for all the main walks in the hills as well as to the main town without the need to use a car."

The views from the living room and kitchen are great. The only thing was the bed which is a bit soft and if there are 4 people (it was only two in our case), there is only one bathroom and the kitchen is not very spacious.

  • "We booked a three night stay at Yew Tree Cottage to recover from an immensely busy week in the run up to Easter, and the Easter weekend itself."

We wanted somewhere not too far from home, but that would offer a complete change of scene, and the cottage did not disappoint. The unmade road that fronts the cottage and provides access from the main road was no problem at all for our family saloon car. Ten steps at the side of the cottage give access to the front door, but again these were no problem, with a stair rail, and good lighting if returning to the property after dark. The cottage itself is in a lovely west-facing location high on the side of the Malvern Hills, with fabulous views for miles across Herefordshire. Inside, the property is warm, comfortable and clean (not even the slightest suspicion of dust that was mentioned in an earlier review). The seating in the lounge is actually amongst the most comfortable we have had in a holiday let, and with the evenings still cool, the pre-set central heating was lovely - thank you Zoe! The kitchen provides every kind of equipment we could possibly desire (although I have yet to come across an effective pair of kitchen scissors!). The bedrooms are comfortable, the bathroom perfectly adequate, and the overall feel of the place is one of welcome and comfort. Just a couple of small comments to add: 1. There are two wardrobes in the double bedroom, one of which was entirely taken up with a fold-up spare bed. Had we been staying much longer than three nights, it might have been challenging to find sufficient storage space for the additional clothes we would have brought. 2. The little TV in the lounge has a built in DVD player, which we found useful - but note, it doesn't play BluRay discs, of which we had brought a couple with us for our teenage son. Not a major issue, but something to be aware of if bringing younger children, and using DVDs to help keep them occupied. All in all, this break was just what we needed, and Yew Tree Cottage lived up to its promise. Many thanks for a lovely stay!

  • "A lovely spacious, light, warm and comfortable cottage with wonderful views."

Everything we needed was there - a great shower, lovely soft towels and comfy beds. The only small drawback was that the listing showed two sofas in the living room (something we specifically look for, having two older teenagers) whereas there was only one sofa and one armchair; we could have done with a bit more soft seating to chill out on in the evenings. Otherwise, a wonderful relaxing place to stay, thank you.

Thanks for your lovely review Sharon, we’re pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay at Yew Tree Cottage. We have recently updated our sofas so we now have a large 3 seater sofa and a snuggle armchair, as well as two other seats in our living room. We hope to welcome you back in the future. • "The property was perfect for our group which consisted of my 89 year old mum and my sister and I ."

Really comfortable and like a home from home only with the most amazing views ! There was some dust in places although the kitchen and bathrooms were spotless . The only drawback is the access which is via a bumpy track which is can be tricky to exit if you come in the wrong way !. Parking is fine outside the property but we had two cars and the neighbour was not very happy with us when we had to park close to the property to get our luggage in and out or get mum in the car. We solved the problem during our stay by using the garage which is spacious and can easily fit a small car.Now we know how to manage the access would definitely stay again !

Clean, tidy and comfortable. In a brilliant position in the Malverns right on the doorstep of many beautiful walks. With all those lovely walks and beautiful views what more could any one ask for.

  • "It was a lovely cottage with a magnificent view and very helpful neighbours but it was so dusty."

I don't mean a light week or so amount of dust oh no this must have been collecting for months. There were cobwebs everywhere from the ceiling in ornaments behind sinks everywhere and no I am not exagerating. Quite concerning in this post covid era when cleanliness is supposed to be enhanced.

  • "This property does not deserve your four stars."

A bit grubby (e.g. dust on some surfaces/bathroom waste bin not wiped), no dishwasher, garden very neglected, 'lawn area' so small unuseable, the shower barely adequate and the approach tracks so bad we feared for the undercarriage of our car. But we did enjoy our stay nevertheless.

We’re pleased you enjoyed your stay at Yew Tree Cottage and have taken note of your comments. We don’t have a dishwasher and this is clear in the information about the cottage. The track is a country track and is used by all our neighbours on a daily basis. Following your feedback the shower has recently been upgraded. We hope you come back and enjoy the cottage again sometime soon. Property Owner

  • "This house is perfect for those wishing to walk on the Malvern Hills."

The starting point of most walks is only ten minutes walk from the house. There is a railway station in Colwall, a few minutes drive away with hourly trains to Ledbury and Hereford in one direction, and Gt Malvern and Worcester in the other direction. It's only a ten minute walk to the Wyche Inn which serves good beer and great food.

The house is perfect for a small family with all amenities available. The views from the kitchen window and from the living room are amazing. Beds are confortable and neighbours are friendly. We enjoyed the walks on the hills (for which the cottage is located perfectly) and trips to the local pub (Chase Inn with an excellent vegan pop-up kitchen on the weekend we were there). We recommend this place. It would be an improvement, though, if the owners would sign up to recycling waste collections. The planet needs our support.

  • "This was the least clean of all the holiday lets we have stayed at in about 30 years of self catering holidays."

There was months, if not years, of accumulated dust on all lampshades, wooden floors underneath shelf units, and even radiators which should have been cleaned as touch points under Covid 19 guidelines. The outside table had not been cleaned for some time. Some crockery and cutlery still had food stuck to them. If the basic cleanliness standards cannot be met then there was no way we could be confident that the property was hygienically clean and safe under the current Covid requirements. The cottage is in a lovely part of the country with amazing views and was cosy and warm.

We're sorry you felt that the standards of cleanliness were not high enough and we will, of course, pass this on to our cleaners. However we have in the past always had very positive feedback about the cleaning. We're pleased you enjoyed the location of the cottage and found it warm and cosy. Kind regards Property Owner

  • "The house is in an excellent location, part way up the west side of the Malverns and with beautiful views into Wales."

From the cottage there is easy access to local walks and various routes to the summit. The cottage was as other reviewers have stated and we had a good week there. A couple of additional points: The house is situated up a track, and is not precisely located by the post code. In these Covid times we wanted to have deliveries of food shopping and takeaways rather than eating out; the delivery people all had trouble finding the cottage without help from us Please note what I failed to do, that the cottage has no freezer capacity, not even a freezer compartment. I would have thought that was unusual for a self-catering cottage.

  • "The cottage was beautifully furnished and absolutely spotless."

There was everything we could need in the kitchen and bathroom, including miniature toiletries and even coffee and biscuits. Lots of books, puzzles and a smart TV with Netflix and a DVD player. My only criticisms would be that the shower has very little power and a 3 seater settee would be a good addition to the lounge. It's quite hard to relax in there if there were more than two of you. Other than that, a wonderful short stay.
