The property

Settled in the charming village of Willersey, Gloucestershire on the edge of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is the Grade II listed Rex Cottage.

This historic, Cotswold stone-fronted cottage benefits from a spacious rear courtyard with furniture, roadside parking, and a welcoming interior with wonderful character features including exposed beams, high ceilings and original iron studded front door, woven throughout; the perfect setting for families or friends looking to explore the Cotswolds.

Cross the threshold to find the sitting room which is undoubtedly the heart of the home, unwind on the plush sofa in front of the Smart TV and the soothing, crackling warmth of the woodburning stove.

Or alternatively, head into the fully-equipped kitchen fitted with matching Smeg appliances to rustle up a hearty meal that the whole group can enjoy either in the kitchen or the formal dining room.

Later, step out into the private courtyard where you can soak up the last of the sun with a glass of wine in hand, the perfect place to watch the stars fill the sky.

When sleep calls, head inside to wash off the day in the ground-floor bathroom before slopinging off to sleep in the ground-floor king-size with en-suite, king-size or twin bedroom.

The charming village has a beautiful duck pond, playground and petrol station, enjoy a well-earned break from the kitchen at the The Bell Inn which serves delicious pub food, or venture into the nearby village of Broadway which offers more variety.

Outdoor enthusiasts will be in their element in the Cotswolds AONB which is famed for its picturesque hills and vast meadows housing a myriad of walks and trails, with breath-taking views, designed to be explored.

Or explore the many grand residences woven throughout; meander the conserved Jacobean garden at the impressive Chastleton House, tour the charming 16th-century Snowshill Manor and Garden or explore the historic 4th-century remains of the Chedworth Roman Villa which has its own informative museum.

Stratford-upon-Avon is also easily accessible by car and guests can lose themselves in its literary foundations at Shakespeare's birthplace, Shakespeare’s New Place as well as visit the MAD museum, Magic Alley and Stratford Butterfly Farm.

About the location

WILLERSEY

Broadway 2 miles; Chipping Campden 3 miles; Evesham 6.5 miles; Moreton-in-Marsh 10 miles.

The charming Cotswold village of Willersey lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB) on the Gloucestershire/Worcestershire border. It boasts two charming pubs, a well-stocked shop and is just two miles from the village of Broadway. Many walks to suit all abilities can be enjoyed from the village, with the Cotswold Way, Heart of England Way and Monach's Way all close by. The quintessential English village of Broadway, known as 'The Jewel of the Cotswolds' is one of the most beautiful in the Cotswolds and offers a super range of unique shops and boutiques, top class galleries, restaurants and hotels, but is also steeped in history with its origins dating back to Roman times. The famous Lygon Arms has been popular for centuries and spa facilities can be enjoyed at pre-arranged times. The pretty market town of Evesham is close by and lies within the Vale of Evesham, offering an array of individual shops, tea rooms, craft and antique shops, an art deco cinema and thriving arts centre. Evesham has a number of black and white timbered buildings, namely the 15th century merchant’s house in the Market Square. Nearby, the ancient village of Bretforton has a 600 year old village inn, owned by the National Trust, and hosts many music, folk, food and drink festivals throughout the year. The surrounding area is famous for its fruit growing and market gardening, and Willersey is a great base for exploring the many unspoilt Cotswold villages, as well as Cheltenham with its Gold Cup horse racing and Worcester with its magnificent cathedral. The birthplace of William Shakespeare, Stratford-upon-Avon, is just a short drive away and offers many historic buildings, theatres and the River Avon. Also, many NT properties can be enjoyed in the area, making this a great place with something to suit all tastes and interests.
