  • "Initial finding of the cottage was good, very quirky, clean and set in pretty communal orchard style garden."

Complimentary cup cakes were delicious and dog biscuits welcome. However property was on quite a busy road and traffic could be heard throughout the night especially with the roof light windows open or on vent. Its situation also made it impossible to walk the dog safely as no pavements or footpaths were on any side requiring the car to be used to drive to appropriate dog friendly areas. The only local pub was very close but didn't provide any food and no other local facilities ie shops/store available within walking distance. We found the bed facilities awkward as the ground floor one was a basic double and a little short in length whilst the upstairs was a futon bed making it difficult to get out of. I would suggest that anyone with any mobility issues would struggle. Also for the same reason, the lounge sofa was also far to low. The owner was very friendly, maintenance was good and information was offered regarding the area , but overall (no disrespect to him) we were disappointed with our first Sykes experience .

  • "Honestly what a place!"

The piggery as well as the surrounding grounds were absolutely stunning. Everything was clearly thought out carefully, and everything you needed was available to you. The hot tub was amazing, and as it's only 2 feet from the front door (in your private courtyard), the dash inside was bearable in the minus 6 degrees temperature we enjoyed on our stay. Can't say enough positive things about this accomodation, and you should definitely book it if we haven't already beaten you to it.. Jarred was also very understanding when I set off the smoke alarms within 10 minutes of arriving, by accidentally putting an electric kettle on the hob as if it were a whistle one. Daft I know, but I like to think I'll forever hold the record for the quickest time the alarms been set off after arrival, and on a completely unrelated note - I now no longer make my wife cups of tea

The accommodation was perfect, everything had been thought of. It was clean and tidy, and spacious. The decor was lovely, the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The garden area was well-maintained and a safe environment for the dogs. There was also a more private garden with a hot tub which was lovely in the evenings. The location was ideal, less than a 10 minute drive to Hereford town, and also the river for the dogs to have a cool down. We also found a lovely circular walk around the area, allowing us to admire the countryside. We ate at ‘the beefy boys’ and had a roast in ‘the bookshop’ both of which come highly recommended! There’s also a lovely pub across the road, less than a 2 minute walk! We would highly recommend the piggery and will more than likely return for another stay, thank you so much!

  • "A superb accommodation, it was immaculate and super clean."

The hot tub was well maintained throughout the week. A very thoughtful welcome pack was provided which was very kind. There were a couple of factors that stopped us giving a 5 for comfort and these are not any fault of the owners but did have an impact on our stay. First was the lack of windows. We were lucky with the weather which meant it was very warm. There are only velux windows to open in both bedrooms and kitchen which was ok until a brief shower occurred and they automatically close and don’t reopen automatically. This meant some of our nights were uncomfortably hot

Thank you for your feedback, very kind and we are glad you enjoyed the Piggery. The heatwave this year has made night times very difficult to sleep and we do understand the velux windows are on a sensor to protect the properties from getting wet inside if it rains and our guests have gone out. Your feedback has prompted us to purchase fans for next year in the event we get a very hot spell again We wish you well Regards Steph and Jarrod Property Owner

The Piggery was the perfect base for our pre Christmas family break. The hot tub and fire were used most days and the local pub, just over the road, ‘Cross Keys’ were so welcoming despite being so busy; it’s a traditional little gem of a pub where everyone actually talks to each other! We had amazing walks in the area including: Biblins walk, Malvern Beacon, Weobley and down by the river and back again ending up at the Bunch of Carrots for a fantastic Sunday lunch (booking is recommended). Ludlow was also a lovely day out. Can’t thank Jarod and family enough for everything, we had a super stay. Only constructive feedback is that due to having no freezer we would struggle in the summer with wanting ice for drinks, so maybe a communal small one in the garage for guests to use (in November it stayed frozen outside so was fine!) Thanks for a great stay. Emma and family

The city of Hereford lies on the River Wye and is just a few miles away, with a wide selection of bars, pubs, cafés, shops and restaurants, as well as an eclectic mix of architecture from almost every British era and its own cathedral, a Grade I listed building which contains Mappa Mundi, a medieval map of the world created around 1300 by Richard of Holdingham and listed on the UNESCO Memory of the World Register. Hereford is well-known for being a cider producer, and you can visit its cider museum and learn about the history of cider in the area, including Bulmers, which was created in Hereford. The half-timbered town of Leominster is a short distance away, filled with medieval buildings and home to the National Trust's Berrington Hall, an 18th century country house and gardens that was once the seat of the Cawley family. About the location

HEREFORD

Leominster 14 miles.

The cathedral city of Hereford dates back to Saxon times, and with its medieval bridge over the winding River Wye it is the very image of picturesque England. With a mix of buildings from almost every British era, eclectic Hereford is a popular base for those seeking to explore the locale – being ideally placed for accessing the Black and White villages of the region, not to mention the delights of neighbouring Shropshire, Worcestershire and The Cotswolds. Famous as a cider producing town, Hereford is also the home of the Mappa Mundi, the largest and most elaborate pre-15th century map in existence, which resides in the cathedral alongside the famous Chained Library – a collection of over 1500 rare books from as early as the 8th century. Nearby is the half timbered town of Leominster, filled with medieval buildings, often overhanging the street, and also accessible is the natural splendour of Symonds Yat, a rocky outcrop on a 5 mile bend of the River Wye, with spectacular views and the opportunity to spot protected peregrine falcons flying from their nests.
