  • "Had a lovely couple of days stay at Tump Cottage, which is situated in the lovely village of Fownhope."

Cosy and welcoming, Jane the host, has thought of everything and is very communicative. Location is superb if you want to explore this beautiful part of Herefordshire and all it has to offer. Would highly recommend.

  • "A lovely comfy and tastefully appointed cottage."

Jane, the owner, was very pleasant and helpful, particularly when we couldn't work out how to operate the induction hob. The enclosed rear garden was really useful for letting our dog out.

  • "Very nice cottage, extremely comfortable and well equipped, with the owner going to the trouble of meeting us and explaining everything."

Handy to have an excellent butcher and pub so close, and lovely walks all round (very good for dogs!) The only downside is that it is on an surprisingly busy road so not as peaceful as we had hoped/expected.

Glad you enjoyed my cottage but sorry you found the traffic a bit heavy. Herefordshire is a big farming area and at certain times of the year, depending on the weather the agricultural works start early, then the following week could be much quieter Property Owner

  • "The cottage is lovely, clean and well furnished."

It is a credit to Jane, the owner, who welcomed us on our arrival. It is well equipped with everything you need for any length of stay and includes a hairdryer, an iron and ironing board. Our dog was able to roam freely around the enclosed garden and a stair gate was in situ which stopped her from going up the stairs. We had some lovely walks in this very friendly village and the two pubs and three shops are all close by. We decided one day to leave the car behind and get the local bus to Hereford (ask for a return ticket as cheaper than two singles). We would definitely recommend Tump cottage to anyone wishing to visit this beautiful part of the country.

Many thanks and so glad you enjoyed your stay in my cottage and Fownhope village too. Many thanks Jane Property Owner

  • "Fab cottage in a great location, garden a lovely little suntrap, very nice shower and comfy beds."

Lots of walks near by, shop and pub a 5 minute stroll. It was all that we could ask for apart from a sharper bread knife - lol

The bread knife has now been replaced . Many thanks Property Owner

  • "The cottage itself was very clean and comfortable."

With two vehicles to park, one of which was a large one, parking was very tight and unfortunately under a tree so the cars were splattered with bird poo, not just a little, a lot, and in the hot weather baked onto the paintwork. Also the road outside the cottage, although a B road, was very busy and very noisy. We were woken with the traffic noise at 5am every morning and it continued into the early hours at the weekend.

In the black information book, it is stated that birds do nest in the tree and if a problem with bird poo, ALL cars have permission to park in The Greenman carpark, which is just across the road. Re the traffic, Fownhope is a massive farming community and at this time of year the farmers need to make hay whilst the sun shines . Property Owner

  • "Lovely cottage, quite, clean and comfortable."

Ideal location for visiting Herefordshire and the surrounding counties. The only thing that was confusing was your directions to the property. Luckily Jane, the owner, was able to direct us. Should be B4224 Fownhope property on the main road, on the right after the fire station, or on the left past the village stores depending on the direction of travel. Parking at the back of the property on Woolhope Road.

  • "It was excellently equipped, warm and comfortable."

The location was very good with dog-friendly pubs and a coffee shop nearby. It is well situated for a range of local walks and days out in Hereford, Ross On Wye, Ledbury etc. The only addition I'd suggest is a small rubbish basket in the bathroom.

  • "We really enjoyed our stay at 1 Tump Cottages."

The owner greeted us personally when we arrived and guided us through all those important things that you really need to know, which was so much better than having to wade through endless instruction manuals in a folder, when what you really want to do is put the kettle on and sit down with a nice cup of tea! The cottage is ideally situated for exploring the many delights of Herefordshire (Symonds Yat, Ledbury, Ross and Hereford Cathedral were our favourites) and sitting out in the garden after a day out and about was a real bonus for this late in the year. Everything you need to rustle up an evening meal is available or there are plenty of pubs close by if you prefer to eat out.

  • "Lovely warm welcome, cottage very clean and well presented."

No quibbles there. We did cook in the cottage on the first night and breakfast that was a little frustrating, the hob didnt allow you to use all the rings at the same time so cooking took a little time and there were no large slotted spoons to serve out of the pans. There are two good pubs within walking distance so maybe just eat out . As there were no other issues we would definitely recommend to our friends. P.s. the dog loved it too, garden lovely and safe and good dog walks.

River just down Ferry Lane opposite the cottage with a lovely walk across fields and on the banks of the river. Jane was most helpful and supplied a welcome bottle of milk and box of chocs. She was there to meet us on arrival and to say goodbye. Hereford close by for any shopping needs. Two excellent pubs within a short walking distance. An excellent stay. Thank you.

  • "We (3 adults) found the property well-appointed, in a lovely village which boasted two inns, a Post Office/general store, farm butchers and a fantastic gift shop cum cafe."

The cottage had been beautifully renovated and suited us well. The beds and bedding were of a good standard (SO important). The owner took the time to greet us on arrival, a nice touch. There is perhaps the need for a couple of folders holding manuals for equipment (cooker snd TV) and local tourist attractions, otherwise it was perfect.
