  • "Really lovely property and we enjoyed our stay."

Close to local towns. Would love to give 5 stars, however as there’s no cover over the hot tub we unfortunately lost a couple of days use of the hot tub due to the rain!

  • "Park Bothy was unbelievably clean."

The facilities were lovely and and well appointed for a couple. That being said, there were a few minor frustrations during our trip. 1. When we arrived there was no fire lighters to light the fire. With such a main feature of the property I thought this was frustrating. I called and I was told that someone would drop them off soon and that took 3 hours. 2. The radiator in the bedroom didn’t work. I again called the maintenance and someone was sent to look at it (the same chap bought fire lighters) but again it was around 3 hours since I reported the issue and we were just sat about during our relaxing break waiting for someone. We were also told he needed to come back the following day to fix so again, no heat in the bedroom in November. 3. The bedside lamps don’t work on the far side of the bedroom. I didn’t even want to bother with this as it was late and we only had one more night. 4. The knives were really poor in the kitchen. They are more dangerous when blunt than sharp. I’d like to reiterate that aside from the above the stay was excellent. The hot tub was fantastic, the place was cosy, easy to find and an easy walk to Stow and Bourton. The above points are just feedback that would of made our stay perfect. We would certainly return.

Thank you for your feedback following your stay at Park Bothy which we really appreciate. We can only apologise that the fire lighters had been missed by Housekeeping. Maintenance did attempt to fix the radiator, but it needed a part, which was sourced the following day. That said you had a wood-burner and the other radiator in the main room to keep you warm in the meantime. With regards to the wait, unfortunately Maintenance had lots of emergency calls, which had to take priority on the evening, but we did attend as soon as possible. It sounds like you still had a lovely stay and we hope you made the most of your break away. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

Just a few things let it down for us. Lovely location, very quiet and peaceful about a 15/20 minute drive from main attractions. Has everything you’ll need for a short break away, only things for us where sofa very uncomfortable and covered in pet hair, bed also very uncomfortable, bedroom/bathroom heater did not work at all so was absolutely freezing at night and also place had a weird smell as if it hadn’t been aired out for a long period of time. Those were the only things that let it down for us apart from that we had an enjoyable stay.

  • "Property was in a good location near to everywhere we wanted to visit."

The place itself was lovely from the outside. Outdoor areas very nice apart from could have had some wire on the gate as wasn’t very secure for our miniature dachshund. As for the inside we think it would benefit from a comfier sofa as it was hard to chill in the evenings with the sofa being small and uncomfy. We did also notice a few places untouched with cleaning and the curtains could do with updating due to them being quite dirty and stained at the bottom.

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback on your stay at Park Bothy. We are glad to hear that you enjoyed your time away and we appreciate your suggestions for improvement. We apologise for the cleanliness issues that you experienced during your stay, and we are on hand 24 hours a day to rectify any problems you experience whilst away. Best wishes, Manor Cottages. • "We had a 2 night stay in July 2023."

Initially we thought the place was spotless? We then sat on the sofa and when my wife stood up her black dress was covered in white dog hair. My T shirt was as well. The sofa and cushions weren't clean. The sofa isn't comfortable enough for a £275 a night accommodation and I think anyone paying this much would at least expect it to be clean. It kind of ruined the stay as even after we dragged the vacuum cleaner out and did it ourselves it still didn't feel clean. I've stayed in dog friendly properties before, as I'm guessing the owners will say its listed as such, but that's no excuse. Park Bothy is really well equipped, comfy bed, a nice log burner and in a nice quiet spot. Just a shame about the horrible sofa.

  • "Location was perfect with the majority of places we wanted to see were no more than 15 mins away."

Garden was perfect for our mini dasch as was indeed secure. We did however come home a day early as we did not find the bed very comfortable and felt sore and stiff waking up. In my opinion the living area needed a big deep comfy sofa to curl up upon, sadly the one there was more like a waiting room seat at a doctors/dentist. Cant fault the facilities, just the level of comfort was not what me and my wife were used to which was a shame as the property was lovely.

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased that you enjoyed the location of Park Bothy. We are sorry to hear that your holiday came to an end early, the comfort of the mattress has not been brought to our attention before but we understand this comes down to personal preference. • "We had a lovely stay at Park Bothy!"

We were so glad to have found this little gem whilst visiting The Cotswold. Everything we needed was at the cottage even some milk & cookies for us which was a lovely touch after a long journey. The property itself as described is beautiful and homely, our little dog was so at home with a lovely garden at the front. The bed was amazing & comfy and hot tub was an additional bonus, lovely and clean. We didn’t realise how easy it was to get to places, Bourton On The Water was only a 6-7min drive and other places including shops only a quick trip in the car! Check in was a 4pm which was well suited for us and the drive is right next to the house.m (so handy!) The only comments we could make was some things needed maintenance I.e bathroom shelf, we found the bathroom & lounge could have been hoovered a little more and the front gate I noticed the property next door had chicken wire on and ours didn’t. With our dog only being small, she did try and attempt to sneak through the gaps in the fence. It would be nice if that could be added just to make it even more secure, with there being a road near by. Thank you for an amazing stay, we will 100% recommend and would stay again!

Many thanks for your feedback. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed your stay. Thank you for your recommendations, we will pass this on. Best wishes, Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Gorgeous property inside and out including the grounds, looked and felt new too, it was amazing!"

We had a great stay, comfy huge bed, cosy lounge area especially when the fire was on, kitchen was everything you needed and very well equipped, hot tub was so clean just like the whole property, it was great the garden was fully enclosed so we could let the dog out without worrying where she could go, the doggy welcome pack was a really lovely gesture as was the mince pies left for us and the folder made up was so informative. Great you could park the car right next to the front door and the house was in a fantastic location - you do need to drive realistically however you are only 7 minutes from Bourton on the Water and Stow on the Wold which are lovely villages with lots in, as well as being close to other places. My only wish would have been to be able to check in earlier to make the most of the property even more as check in at 6pm was quite late especially as it was pitch black when we got there at 6pm so it was hard to see the entrance to the driveway/see which house we were in easily! Would 100% love to stay again and would recommend to everyone I know!

The bed was extremely comfortable and it had facilities to self cater with ease. It was truly dog friendly and it was secure to let my pooch roam freely outside. • "The property is beautiful, lovely layout and decorated beautifully."

It was clean and it’s fully equipped too with all the crockery and cookware you’d need and we were even left a small milk in the fridge, some shortbread biscuits and there was tea, coffee, coffee pods for the nespresso machine, washing powder, dishwasher tablets, tea towels, kitchen paper - all the things I brought with me we didn’t need as it was all provided. There’s a tv in the living area and bedroom and both were smart tvs which worked great with the brilliant wifi. The hot tub is lovely, although wished it had more of a view - such as in the front garden area it’s a shame these are split areas although we obviously appreciated the privacy of where the hot tub actually is but just not the view of the iron barn next door. It’s also great that it’s dog friendly, and it’s peaceful and quite remote but still close to main parts of the Cotswolds and attractions. The only downside was the extra charge for the hot tub - this is a premium property and it’s expensive to stay here as it is and I think the hot tub should have been included in the price as it’s unlikely people who are booking this property are not going to use it - for us it was the main reason for booking this particular property. I only found out about the £50 extra charge for the hot tub 5 days before we were due to arrive, which is lucky as I would’ve been disappointed had we arrived and the hot tub not been filled. It was not clearly advertised that there was an additional charge for the hot tub when we booked through booking.com (unlike the £25 dog charge which is clearly advertised and I rang up Sykes cottages after booking online to pay that fee - had I the hot tub fee been clearly advertised I would’ve paid this at the same time or probably would’ve booked a different property where the hot tub was included). This was very disappointing and really put a dampener on our birthday celebration minibreak before we even set off

Thank you for taking the time to leave a feedback, we will check how clear the Hot tub extra fees are, and will take your comments into consideration, we are delighted you enjoyed your stay and looking forward to welcoming you again soon. Property Owner

The barn was well placed for visiting the well known areas in the Cotswolds. There were a few issues that were dealt with straight away by the management company, although it would be useful for future tenants to note that the plug to switch on the hob is located behind the microwave not the switch marked hob, it took a maintenance man a little while to discover this which made for a rather late supper on the first night!

However there was no evidence of a deep clean as property was quite dirty & dusty. The late check-in means we paid for our first days holiday but had no access until the evening. The property is looking very tired & needs refreshing & re-decorating. Also inventory is missing lots of items in the kitchen. Crockery is chipped & lots of odd glasses & not a pair that matches! We had a family party & expected at least a set of 6 glasses & unchipped crockery. It’s not a cheap property to rent & our expectations were not fully met on this occasion. We will return but the property needs some well needed TLC to warrant the price.

  • "The cottage its self was OK, the location however is terrible."

I understand that's no reflection of the cottage but I feel more could have been done prior to our stay to warn/advise on just how remote the location was. We researched the location online but getting a feel for the lack of taxis, buses and general public services is something you really don't find until you're there. What we did receive prior to our stay was lots of "if you need help then please ask" and "don't suffer in silence, we're here to help you" kind of thing. This obviously gave me the impression that people would actually help me should I have needed it. After struggling to find public transport we sought help via the overly 'we WILL help you' email to find a taxi. I got a response along the lines of 'yeah I know bloke, he's near you'. We contacted this nearby man who said he might be able to taxi us and he'd let us know. Nearby Taxi man, never got back to us and so I returned to the handy 'we will most certainly help you' email asking if there was anymore taxis or alternative transport available. I guess not getting back to people must be a good bit of Cotswold banter as this email was also ignored. I get it's a remote area, and I understand that public transport in the area may be limited but what I have no understanding for is poor customer service. To just not reply, I think is terrible especially after receiving an email encouraging to ask for help. Once again, the cottage was OK, not amazing but OK but poor customer service has overshadowed the whole experience for me and based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone.

We are sorry to hear that the location of Park Bothy did not meet your expectations, we have changed the distances of the local facilities. Here at Manor Cottages we take all feedback very seriously and we apologise for the poor service you received. Could have done with a rubber mat in the shower, as it was a bit slippery. Recycling info was rather confusing - council info left in the cottage did not tally with the various containers outside. Shame about the smell from the animal feeds manufacturer next door !! It would rather spoil the pleasure of using the hot tub. Those points aside it was a lovely comfortable cottage, very spacious and in a very convenient location. (If you decide to publish this feedback, you may wish to edit out comment about the smell!)

Thank you for your comments, we welcome feedback so that we can try to improve the experience for our guests during their stay. 1) There is a visitors book in the cottage, we would encourage guests to let us know if they do not have anything they require or think should be there during their stay so that we can ensure it is provided. 2) We will review the shower / mat arrangements. 3) We will double check that instructions on the bins are clear, the council instructions stating which type of waste to put in each bin are provided, food waste goes into the two caddies and plastic and glass bins are all labelled. 4) There is not an animal feed manufacturer next door, there is a small farm shop selling bagged animal feeds, haylage and straw. There is a working farm next door and at times there may be country smells from muck spreading or similar, these activities should be for a very short period of time and we are sorry if the timing of this impacted on your enjoyment of the hot tub during your stay. • "We arrived after a long , but trouble free journey and once in the location of the accommodation , proceeded to follow the detailed instructions sent by yourselves which we received with all holiday confirmation/ documentation."

Unfortunately, it took us an extra 50 minutes to find the exact location. The instructions were detailed but wording extremely misleading ...i.e quotes the property is situated on a lane ? We therefore went down many lanes leading to either nowhere, farms or remote areas. It is clearly not a ‘ lane’ but a proper road. We had been in the correct loacation so many times , and bypassed it. If the instructions had stated that the property was simply located ADJACENT to Phipps feeds and OPPOSITE JB Auto Services, that would have been simply perfect and saved an awful lot of uneccessary mileage and frustration. First impressions are very important and we were disappointed to see that the door and window frames were covered in dust and cobwebs ( these had clearly not been brushed over for some weeks ) and all light fittings and Venetian blinds were VERY, VERY dusty. ( I did take photos as evidence if required ) Such a shame , as this shows such poor attention to detail from the cleaners. Not what one would expect when paying a premium for the property. It was extremely hot and stuffy in the property , even with windows and doors open , and although there was one very small fan provided in the bedroom, this was not ‘man’ enough . For extra comfort, especially at night , we purchased a large tower fan which was much needed. In the absence of air con, ceiling fans would have been an excellent addition and much appreciated ! The pillows were too soft for our comfort and no extras provided . To conclude , the property is in a fantastic location , and very well placed as a base for visiting other areas of interest . It has been built to a high standard and was very well appointed and the hot tub a valuable addition. Hopefully, our comments will be noted in an effort to make a few small improvements and adjustments for future guests.

Thank you for your feedback on your stay at The Bothy. We apologise that you found the property very difficult to find, and have taken your suggestions on-board and updated the driving directions. We have put checks in place to ensure the cleanliness is to the highest possible standard. We are looking into your other comments to ensure we provide the best possible environment for future guests. Property Owner

  • "We felt that the cottage was in need of a deeper clean."

I dropped a pen in the bedroom and it rolled under the chest of drawers and it was very 'fluffy' at the back. Although the bed linen was adequate we felt that new pillows were needed. Round the hot tub area the door and window frames were full of cob webs and the windows needed cleaning. A parasol with the bench and table seating would have been nice.

Thank you for your feedback in relation to your stay at Park Bothy. We apologise that you didn't find the cottage as clean as it should have been. We have addressed the cleaning with housekeeping. We have bought new pillows. And will look at seating for outside. Property Owner

Very well presented. Garden design is great for dogs as there is no way they can exit the property. Unfortunately wi fi wasn’t working for visit which was very disappointing. We had to leave early as a result. Needs to add freezer space / ice machine.

  • "Cottage was perfect - the only things I would add/change would be: - a freezer so that you can do a shop & not have to worry about leaving to get more food - another lamp by the dining table - Better directions to the property (We struggled to follow the directions but found the Park Stables has a geopin on Google Map so used that instead) Other than those few tiny things, we had a perfect stay & I'd definitely look at booking another cottage through your company!"

  • "Absolutely lovely, would definitely come back."

Came over with our dog who wasn’t a fan of the garage over the road but they didn’t bother us! Nice walks nearby as part of the Oxfordshire Way, but a local farmer had closed off one the gates so we had to turn back! Only thing that would be good is a listing of dog friendly pubs and the welcome booklet to include instructions for oven and coffee machine rather than being in a draw ☺️

  • "We had a wonderful stay."

On arrival there were some basic provisions such as milk and tea/coffee and plenty of logs for the fire. It was a very peaceful place that felt a million miles away but was only 10 minutes to a great pub. I could not recommend this place enough. Its a stones throw from historic boughton on the water and Moreton in Marsh - of which we explored both.

About the location

BOURTON-ON-THE-WATER

Stow-on-the-Wold 4 miles; Moreton-in-Marsh 8 miles; Chipping Norton 13 miles; Cheltenham 15.5 miles.

Located in the Cotswold Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, the historic village of Bourton-on-the-Water dates back to Neolithic times with over 100 buildings being Grade II listed or higher. The picturesque high street nestles alongside the River Windrush over which several low stone bridges span, which is why Bourton-on-the-Water is known as the Venice in the Cotswolds. Tradition states that an annual football match is played in the summer, in the River Windrush with the banks lined with spectators, with the aim to score as many goals as possible and get as wet as possible! The village has an eclectic range of visitor attractions, including The Model Village, Cotswold Motor Museum, Birdland Park and Gardens as well as a Dragonfly Maze, monthly farmers’ market as well as many tea rooms, an artisan bakery, antiques and craft markets, traditional sweet shop, cycle hire and its very own perfumery. Nearby, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises traditional England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antiques shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Also take a visit to the medieval town of Burford for a great day out where you can enjoy a trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park and Gardens. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are both within easy reach and make a great day out. The spa town of Cheltenham is, architecturally, the most complete Regency town in England with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called The City of Dreaming Spires has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also all within easy reach.
