  • "Cute little traditional old cottage in a great location!"

Stow on the wold is a lovely town and easy to visit others nearby.

    PatrickNov 2020

  • "The cottage is beautiful and well located with a very short stroll into Stow."

We enjoyed our stay very much. Helpful information had been left about walks and a lovely touch was a dog bed for the furry friend that came with us. The stair access to the two bedrooms in the eaves is not for those of tall stature!

  • "We had a wonderful stay!"

The cottage was perfect and as per the pictures provided. I would recommend that anyone stay here, it is in a lovely location too - in walking distance to the local amenities. I must note that: if you are tall you might bump your head quite a lot! :)

  • "Great cottage and excellent location."

The family and I enjoyed hanging out in the cosy living room and enjoying a BBQ in the backyard when we weren't out exploring the Cotswolds. The proximity to the town center and restaurants was excellent and dedicated parking spot was a huge plus.

  • "We loved our stay at the beautiful Heath Cottage."

It’s a fantastic base for exploring the Cotswolds and a very short stroll into the stunning Stow on the Wold. Hope to be back some day!

  • "Lovely cute cottage in an ideal location as walking distance to all the pubs/shops in stow on the wold."

Cottage is nicely decorated and bedrooms are all a good size. The 1 bathroom is a bit tight but was fine as we were only there for 3 nights. Hosts were quick to respond to any questions I had. Stow is a lot less touristy than other villages we visited but still had a good selection of pubs and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again.

The cottage feels historic but very comfortable. It is an easy walk to everything in town with a good place to park the car.

    ShawnJun 2019

  • "Heath Cottage is a lovely little space perfectly located for exploring Stow and the wider Cotswolds."

The cottage has a lovely little secluded garden space with a BBQ for those sunny days, and a comfortable living room with a cosy log burner for the colder evenings. Well equipped and generally clean throughout, we had a great time and would return.

  • "Lovely cottage with a nice backyard, amazing for grabbing breakfast in the sunshine!"

Very well located to explore all nearby towns in the Cotswolds. We were all amazed by how comfortable are the beds but for tall people be wary of low ceilings! Highly recommend staying there for a cozy stay in the Cotswolds.

The property

Nestled close to the charming market town of Stow-on-the-Wold in the Cotswolds, lies this charming and stylish Grade ll listed honey-coloured Cotswold stone property which is tastefully decorated, retaining its original early 19th century features.

Located on the end of a short row of Cotswold stone cottages and sleeping up to six guests, this is the perfect getaway for you and your loved ones.

The front door opens up directly into the dining room, where you are greeted by a wealth of character features including a stunning ornamental inglenook fireplace and exposed beams.

Moving through the property and into the living room you will find a homely and relaxing space with a wealth of character features including flagstone floor, exposed Cotswold stone and a second remarkable inglenook fireplace with a warming woodburning stove; a tranquil space for you and your loved ones to relax.

Completing the ground floor is the little, yet well-equipped kitchen, which has everything you need during your stay.

A peaceful, enclosed garden is accessed via the kitchen so in the summer months, take advantage of the outdoor space and dine al fresco at the seating area or better yet, make use of the charcoal barbecue!

A convenient shed is located in the garden, perfect for storing bikes or muddy shoes and off-road parking for one car is located at the end of the garden.

When sleep calls, make your way up the steep winding staircase and onto the first-floor where you will find the splendid king-size master bedroom and the bathroom.

Retreating further to the second-floor in the eaves of the property, you will find a king-size double and a double room, all providing a calming solace to lay your head after a day of exploring.

In the morning, get ready to head out for a day of exploring Stow-on-the-Wold.

Just a short walk away from Heath Cottage are many local amenities including pubs, tearooms and individual shops.

If you want to discover the history of Stow, take a walk around the market square, where you will find the town stock at one end which dates back to the 15th Century and is shaded by an old Elm Tree and at the opposite end, you will find the ancient Market Cross, originally erected as a symbolic reminder to traders of the times to deal honestly and fairly.

St Edward’s Parish Church is known for its enchanting looking tree surrounding the doorway and it is here you will find a memorial of those who fought in the last Civil War.

Stow is surrounded by beautiful countryside, with many scenic walks and cycle routes right on its doorstep, including the Gloucestershire Way walking trail, a 94-mile trail from Chepstow Castle to Tewkesbury, passing through many Cotswold villages and towns on its route.

Perhaps a visit to the nearby village of Bourton-on-the-Water to marvel at the miniature replica of the Cotswold-stone village at The Model Village or a trip to Birdland Park & Gardens to discover over 500 species of birds, which is a wonderful spot to enjoy a picnic, is what you’re after!

A short distance from Stow is the market town of Chipping Norton, where you can learn of the town’s history at the Chipping Norton Museum, enjoy live entertainment at the local theatre or venture further afield to the renowned Diddly Squat Farm Shop.

About the location

STOW-ON-THE-WOLD

Bourton-on-the-Water 4 miles; Stratford upon Avon 15 miles.

The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of Stow, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close to the town. Bourton-on-the-Water, known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' as the River Windrush runs through the centre, lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are all within easy reach and make a great day out. Cheltenham (20 miles away) is, architecturally, the most complete regency town in England. A spa town with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse-racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. At other times of year, it is host to literature, jazz, classical music, science and food and drink festivals. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called 'The City of Dreaming Spires’ has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within easy reach, making Stow-on-the-Wold an ideal base.
