Communication from host was quick and very helpful.

  • "The cottage instantly felt like a holiday home that we could relax and feel comfortable in."

Its amenities are simple but practical, and exactly what our family needed for the week. It is in a fantastic location, both being a stones throw from the beautiful town centre and further afield to any area of the Cotswold's. We can't wait to return.

  • "We loved our stay at Steps cottage."

The location is absolutely fantastic. Right in the village of Stow. Very cosy interior and the kitchen has everything you may need. Great for 2 families as the place has 2 separate parts but you can still spend mealtimes together. Our kids were happy to find some books and games too. Would highly recommend this place.

Property is versatile, has the Bolt House over the garage that is great additional space for larger groups. Nice outdoor space too. Lots of character. Very easy to find, with great pre-arrival info. A short walk from the supermarket, pubs and restaurants. Would recommend.

The property was perfect for two families with children traveling together and with a great walkable location. The owner was very responsive, helpful and friendly when we had questions. We would highly recommend this property and would happily return if we are back in the area in the future.

  • "We had a lovely family reunion here for 3 days, everything in the cottage was very welcoming and delightful."

From the gorgeous red roses on the dining table to the delicious chocolate cake, we really appreciated all the little touches. I had needed some help with organising groceries prior to our arrival as we were traveling with 5 children and arriving at 9pm and the housekeeper for the cottage, Eve was totally amazing about it. I sent her a list of things and she organised everything brilliantly. The location is really amazing. we visited Bourton-on-the-Water and Moreton-on-the-Marsh and loved experiencing the litttle tea rooms and coffee shops in the Stow market square. The only thing we struggled with was booking taxis for a group as large as ours. We will definitely try to come back!

  • "Great location, brilliant space, and very well equipped."

We will definitely visit again in the future.

  • "A lovely ,well equipped cottage in a great location."

There was a problem with the hot water in the annexe that turned out to be due to temporary low water pressure in Stow on the Wold. We phoned the owner's son to report the problem, he could not have been more helpful in trying to fix the problem. Excellent cottage, excellent service from the owners.

  • "Extremely comfortable, clean and well equipped."

    Wonderful location.

    ChristinaNov 2016

  • "10 of us stayed the weekend at Steps Cottage."

6 in main house with 4 in the annex. The facilities were good, the cottage lovely and location ideal. Loved the nice homely touches - soft fluffy towels, tea/coffee left in beautiful jars at both locations and a couple of bottles of wine. Fully functional kitchen, crockery, utensils with dishwasher. A 5/5 stay. Thankyou. Rajesh Kohli

  • "We had a perfect weekend at Steps Cottage."

We were a party of 10, all adults although 6 were late teen/early 20s. The description of the cottage was very accurate; the lovely space above the garage provided an extra living space for boardgames, although we all fitted into the living room to watch the Olympics. We cooked full meals on all 3 evenings and the kitchen was very well equipped. The cars stayed in the garage for a very restful weekend and we enjoyed walks from the cottage. The Bell at Stow provided a great Sunday lunch and Huffkins make excellent almond croissants. Sue

  • "Yes it was great thank you."

Loved the king sized bed in the loft space it was very comfortable. My son really liked his room which was adjoined to ours. Kitchin was fantastically equipt with everything you could need and cottage was nice and clean and well presented. We came home feeling relaxed. The cottage was nice and warm and homely. We really enjoyed our stay! We did have trouble finding the cottage initially as the Steps Cottage sign outside did not really standout. Thank you for the lovely cake! - Sam

  • "Actually I was trying to do this recently on your website but couldnt find an appropriate place!"

We had a great time in Steps Cottage as a group of girls looking for a relaxing weekend in the countryside. The house was lovely - very homely and well equipped, with fanstastic little features like the wood burner and smart Tv, and a delicious cake on arrival. It is perfectly located near to the town centre and Tesco, whilst being easy to find with off road parking too. The service we received when we had a technical issue with the doorknob in the living room was also prompt and helpful. I know that several friends had already booked cottages with your company after their experiences in the cottage and from our recommendations. Thank you so much for providing such a fantastic service. The only thing I can think to improve on would be to move a DVD player downstairs as we had brought several DVDs to unwind with, but could not play them in the living room to watch together. Thank you again for a great weekend! - Julia

  • "Really enjoyed our stay, cottage was lovely and especially enjoyed the buetiful kitchen utensils the cottage provides, nice tv and generally warm."

... really no criticisms. would definatley use your company again! - Adam

  • "The Cottage was fantastic and the cake even better."

We left a message in the book for guests. We will be back to enjoy both the cottage and the area. It was great to have the freedom to come and go and spend the time as we wanted it to be. Everything about the cottage was just prefect and have already recommended it to others. Thanks so very much you made four ladies very happy - who had net seen each other for at least 20 years. We studied at University together and just lost touch. So the days spent in your cottage will stay with us for a long time. - Kim

  • "We had a absolutely great time."

The cottage was lovely and exceptionally well equipped (particularly the kitchen). The finishing touch was the homemade sponge cake which was delicious! I would definitely recommend it and will keep my eyes on your cottages for future trips. One thing I thought would be helpful is that the village tourist information does a local walks booklet for about £2 which would be great to have in the information folder. I left mine but it was a bit crumpled after our walk. Thanks! - Ali

  • "We had a really good time."

The owner, Chris, greeted us, and showed us round. The house has every comfort you'd need. Stow is a great place, and we also went to Broadway, Bourton and Chipping Campden. I'd certainly recommend it, and would be interested in trying some of your other properties too. Your customer service has been great, especially as we booked last minute. - James Leckie

This splendid 18th century Cotswold stone cottage has been decorated to a high standard and has all the amenities you and your party require for a great stay.

The landing space on this floor is able to have two additional single beds on request and the fixed stairgate at the top of the stairs safely encloses the second-floor.

Moving back down to the ground floor, through the conservatory, you will find the wonderfully manicured enclosed multi-level garden; a peaceful place to relax surrounded with bushes, plants and flowers, and a remarkable tree giving shade to the gravel area which is occupied by an outside seating area and gas barbecue.

The Bolt Hole is hidden at the end of the garden, above the garage, with wooden steps leading up to the entrance, which is above the garage.

About the location

STOW-ON-THE-WOLD

Bourton-on-the-Water 4 miles; Stratford upon Avon 15 miles.

The highest town in the Cotswolds, Stow-on-the-Wold, originally an Iron Age Fort, epitomises olde worlde England. This ancient market town has played host to many fairs since the 12th century and today holds a biannual Gypsy Horse Fair, craft fairs and monthly Farmers' market. The vast market square boasts an ancient cross at one end and the village stocks at the other, surrounded by an elegant array of Cotswold stone townhouses, antique shops, tea rooms, traditional pubs, award-winning restaurants and its very own cricket museum. Many walks and cycle rides through the beautiful rolling countryside of the Cotswolds can be enjoyed from the centre of Stow, with the Macmillan Way, Heart of England Way, Gloucestershire and Monarch's Way all running close to the town. Bourton-on-the-Water, known as the 'Venice of the Cotswolds' as the River Windrush runs through the centre, lies in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is one of the most popular Cotswold villages. The Saxon market town of Moreton-in-Marsh and the quintessential English village of Broadway are all within easy reach and make a great day out. Cheltenham (20 miles away) is, architecturally, the most complete regency town in England. A spa town with an incredible range of shops, cinemas, theatres, restaurants and pubs, it is famous for its horse-racing festival in March, culminating in the Gold Cup steeplechase. At other times of year, it is host to literature, jazz, classical music, science and food and drink festivals. Oxford, the oldest university city in England and sometimes called 'The City of Dreaming Spires’ has an abundance of prestigious attractions, including the 38 colleges of the university (half of which date back before 1600), the oldest university teaching room, the Bodleian Library, Ashmolean and Pitt Rivers Museums, and Botanic Gardens. Stratford-upon-Avon, Bath, Worcester and the waterfront city of Gloucester are also within easy reach, making Stow-on-the-Wold an ideal base.
