We were blessed with the weather, so made the most of sitting outside of the cottage. Owners friendly without being intrusive. Cottage was comfortable and equipped with all implements. WiFi was intermittent but we did get online everyday.

  • "Howle Hideaway is a brilliant place to stay."

Very peaceful with beautiful views over the Wye valley. This was my second visit to this location- the first was the adjoining Valley View which was just as good. Will definitely return in the future. Ross on Wye is one of my favourite towns in the country with beautiful river walks.

The patio area overlooking the garden and fields was great to sit in and enjoy the views and peacefulness of the area and seeing the alpacas was a bonus. Would definitely visit again.

  • "The owners were helpful and promptly sorted out any issues."

The cottage was well equipped despite many items being removed due to covid restrictions. The directions to the cottage were minimal but more helpful information was available from the owners (what three words). A car is needed to get the most from the area as the property is near the top of a hill but the Wye Valley has many activities to enjoy nearby.

  • "The sofas were very saggy and gave us a backache and it didn't help that the cushions had all been removed!"

The spiral staircase is very difficult to use as the toilet is downstairs and you can't get up them with a suitcase! The people were lovely but I wouldn't stay there again I'm afraid.

  • "The cottage was exceptional."

Beautifully appointed spotless and very comfortable. The owners had thought of everything and were very welcoming on arrival and helpful throughout our stay when we needed anything but always respecting our privacy We particularly liked the private patio and our own garden where the wonderful surroundings and bird song could be fully appreciated. The spiral staircase to the bedroom took some getting used to but was no problem We will certainly return - a truly magical place. Heather and Roger Wing

  • "An excellent holiday cottage and absolutely spotless, thank you."

Lovely patio and surroundings. Owners very welcoming and helpful. Just found the spiral staircase, although we had no mobility issues rather difficult at times. Perhaps would have liked additional place mats to protect the dining table. Realise that this had to be reduced owing to COVID, two additional would have been useful. An absolutely wonderful holiday and will aim to return next year.

  • "After a long time in lockdown we were really looking forward to a cottage break away for 7 days."

We can honestly say this fabulous cottage did not disappoint and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole of our stay. On arrival, we were met by the owner who made us feel very welcome. He left us some fresh eggs, crisps, drinks and even a couple of decorated mugs of the cottage and the wye valley for us to take home after our stay. Nice touch thank you! The cottage is beautiful, well equipped and has a gorgeous patio area and garden at the back to relax after long days out walking. Can recommend Symonds Yat for walks with a magnificent viewpoint.

  • "Lovely spot for a restful week but with plenty of walking and the river nearby for canoing ."

Cottage was spotless and very comfortable with a lovely garden with morning and lunch time sun and dappled shade in the afternoon which was much needed in the heat wave . A decent pub nearby in Goodrich only five minute drive away but you do need to drive down the hill to get any where . However for walkers the cottage is very near plenty of footpaths to explore the local area . Thank you to the owners who were very helpful and friendly and we loved the addition of the alpacas and Mony and Hector the dogs who greeted us each day in the garden . Yes the spiral staircase is an issue if you are older and a bit frail as the bathroom is down stairs so night time loo jaunts are fun but fine if you have no mobility issues. However the cottage is beautifully presented ,was immaculate and to have our own little garden to sit in and chill out was just perfect . Thank you so much for a lovely stay .

The accommodation was of a high standard with open plan living area and kitchen, ground floor shower room, first floor bedroom accessed by a wooden spiral staircase and a lovely paved south facing patio overlooking fields and woodland. On arriving we received a warm welcome by the owners and we were delighted with all the little extras that the accommodation had to offer. Access to the alpaca and sheep on the farm was a delight and getting up close and personal a special touch and we would definitely return here again for a short break.

The location is very private and peaceful, being at the end of a private farm lane accessed through a gate. The owners made us very welcome. The ground floor accommodation is generous for a one bedroom unit with lovely patio and access to the surrounding paddocks, where alpacas and sheep may be grazing. The spacious and well furnished bedroom is accessed via a spiral staircase, which could be challenging for anyone with limited mobility. An excellent base for exploring the area, or simply to chill out. Your own transport is essential given the very rural location.
