  • "A beautiful house in beautiful surroundings!"

We were provided with everything we needed for a home from home stay. The host Jane greeted us to go through things and explain how a few things worked. If there were any problems I could phone and she would come and sort it. Thankfully everything was perfect. We had a great time celebrating a big surprise birthday in our party of 8. Colin and Jane kindly let us arrive a little sooner than check in to prepare for our guest of honours arrival. All the rooms and sitting areas were clean and tidy. The kitchen was great and we had plenty of kitchenware for cooking. The hot tub was lovely too and very clean. Some of my family mentioned the mattresses were a little on the firm side for our liking but otherwise we all slept well. Overall a great place to stay and relax in beautiful surroundings. Thankyou Jane and Colin we will most likely be returning soon! X

  • "Property was very nice , kitchen was fully equipped a coffee machine and air fryer would bring it up to date with modern living."

I would not stay at this property again because of the creaking floors upstairs ,every single room was really really noisy with every step you took in every room and the landing area,we were travelling with babies and walking around upstairs was so noisy it would wake them up ,you knew exactly where people were walking around upstairs it was so noisy and a toilet break in the night ment you woke everyone up by just walking to the bathroom! , beds were very small just a double in the main bedroom , my husband is 6ft and could not stretch his legs down as the bed had a high rail at the bottom the bed , this bedroom has plenty of room for a king size bed .New front door needed as the seal has dropped and let in a gale force wind . Owners were very friendly and left us a lovely basket of wine and biscuits, we stayed over the Christmas period and the property was all dressed up with a Christmas tree ect which was lovely , views from this property are absolutely beautiful .we were a family of 9 and had plenty of space for us all to sit and chill.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay with us, I am pleased that you liked the views from the cottage, together with the Christmas decorations. I take on board your suggestion of providing an air fryer and will consider changing the cafetiere for a coffee machine at some stage. I was sorry to hear that creaking floorboards disturbed you during your stay. I was not aware that this was a problem as it has never been brought to my attention before by any previous guests. This is a very old cottage and as such it does make noises from time to time; however I will look into this. All our beds are standard size singles and doubles. It was a pity that your double bed was not to your liking, as it is a brand new bed, however, I know that comfort is subjective to every individual. It is a pity that you did not contact me about the front door, as I could have popped up and shown you how to turn the handle upwards 1/2 turn which seals the door completely. I have looked at the door since your visit and the seal is actually in good order. It is a pity that you won't return to visit us, particularly when we have better weather than we had at Christmas, but should you change your mind, we would always be pleased to see you. • "We chose Wood cottage for a family weekend, as an early celebration for my husbands 70th Birthday, and what a great choice it was."

The cottage is at the end of a farm track, in a beautiful position, totally on it's own, so we didn't have to worry about our grandchildren being too noisy or the dog barking. The Hot Tub was the hit of the weekend, and was very well used, amazing to sit back in the evening and watch all the stars, satellites etc, with no light pollution. The house is very well equipped, very spacious, comfortable & exceptionally clean. All the beds were comfortable, plenty of wardrobe space, chest of drawers etc. The lounge/sitting room is huge, and can easily fit everyone in, which was great. The owner, Jane, came and introduced herself, and asked if we had everything we needed, explained about the hot tub, and the central heating/water, as well as giving us some local information, days out etc. Tenbury Wells is the closest town, it's a pretty little market town, the countryside from the farm to the town, was so pretty. We had a lovely Chinese take away from the Singapore Garden,& a great Sunday Roast at The Feathers, on the way into Tenbury Wells ( You will need to book this, very popular) We didn't really go out and about much, as we felt so comfortable and relaxed in the cottage, we didn't need to! We walked down to the farm, as my grandson wanted to show us all the machinery, animals etc. We met Colin, Jane's husband & the farmer ( as the boys called him!) who was also very friendly, and happy to chat about the farm. If I had to be picky, the only couple of things would be that the bath towels were very small, and the duvets are well worn, and could do with changing. But we all agreed we would love to return to Wood Cottage, maybe in the summer, and a Christmas there would be amazing. Thanks to Colin & Jane for lending us your beautiful cottage.

  • "Hi the only downside was the dirt track to the Property it would be nice if it was gravel as I had to remove o large amount of mud from my wheel arches on return."

I do understand that it’s on farm land so have to accept that. On the whole we enjoyed our stay. The only criticism raised was the use of the hot tub. If you were staying until the Monday the last time you could use the hot tub is 1pm on the Sunday?

Hi, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. I apologise for the mud on the track, but the weather has been so bad for our harvest this year that on Sunday we had to work because it was the one fine day of the week!!!! This involved tractors travelling along the lane, and because of the previous wet weather they must have made the track muddy; this is not the norm, as you will know having visited us before. With regard to the hot tub, this time limit is to ensure that if the water needs to be changed between bookings then I have time to do this; the tub heats at 1 degree per hour so I do need time to get this done. I hope this did not spoil your stay, and that you were able to use the hot tub before you left on Sunday. Property Owner

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us last weekend. I wish that you had told me about the window, I could have got it looked at and repaired during your stay, I would not have wanted you to be uncomfortable. The cottage itself was perfect, can't fault it. There was loads of space, beds were comfy, the cleanliness was excellent. The owners have provided everything you could possibly need from kitchen equipment to games. We loved the hot tub! We also have two young children and were very appreciative of the cot, high chair and the owner even provided a stair gate when we asked for one. Finally being on a working farm at this time of year was really special, we got to see tiny lambs who had just been born and the dogs were so friendly. My son is usually very shy and wary of animals but the dogs were so friendly he was stroking them and playing with them by the end of the weekend. Thank you so much for a memorable weekend!

The cottage is situated in an idyllic location, surrounded by stunning scenery. The host was very welcoming, the place was clean and it was more spacious than the photos would suggest. The only downside to the venue was the lack of essential ingredients left at the cottage, including salt and pepper, cooking oil, tea, coffee and salt/sugar. Other than that, we would definitely recommend staying and we wish we could have stayed longer!

We are so glad that you enjoyed your short stay at Wood Cottage, and found that it met your expectations, and the weather was lovely for you! In the past we have supplied the essential ingredients you listed; however it seems that most guests tend to bring their own, or have a supermarket delivery, and we were finding that these items were not used and tended to become stale, and lose flavour. We do provide other household essentials such as toilet & kitchen rolls, dishwasher tablets, washing up liquid, cleaners, handwashes etc. But I am sorry you were disappointed with the lack of other provisions. If you should want another reunion we would love to host you again.!! Property Owner

  • "I would have liked to give top marks here because we all did think that the cottage was in a beautiful spot, plenty of room, well laid out and equipped and most of us thoroughly enjoyed our stay."

There was an issue I feel I have to raise on behalf of everyone.. When we were retiring for bed on the first evening of our stay, we could not lock the patio door, which led onto the hot tub and patio, which was at the front of the house. We tried everything and it simply would not lock. The owners were attending their sons wedding the next morning, it was late and we did not want to disturb them. We were ten ladies and some were extremely nervous about not locking this door. In the end to try to make it secure, we dragged a heavy piece of furniture across the door and left lots of glasses on top of it, so noise would be made if anyone broke in. We told the owners the next morning and the response was that it is a remote spot and safe... that others had complained ... even got them up in the middle of the night to go and sort it out !!!!!! Surely then this has been a problem for some time and a new lock would be a small price to pay for people's peace of mind. I am afraid being told how remote the spot was made some even more nervous, not less!! I realise that access was through the farm yard but only along a track which anyone could drive along. We were not even sure that the owners would be on the premises on the night of the wedding..... So, another night spent with the heavy dresser being pushed in front of the door. We had to leave it open when we went out for lunch on the Saturday and so we had to put laptops and valuables in the cars. It is clear the the owners do not think that this is a problem in the least and maybe they are right but we all live in built up areas where one would not dream of deliberately leaving a patio door unlocked and we felt that our concerns were not taken seriously at all, It's a shame because but for this one thing, the score would have been perfect.

The owners were really helpful too, we had some bad weather and they came and maintained our outside area for us. Only catch was the slightly muddy road on the way to the house but that is to be expected during a wet spring when you're on farmland! We are already thinking about another trip to stay in this cottage.

Very clean house and location was also great. We didn't stay long (only two nights) but would definitely come back. Only slight criticism we'd give is it would have been nice to have a Christmas tree, as we stayed just the week before Christmas, other than that it was perfect.

Sorry, about that but traditionally the Xmas tree, decorations and fresh flower table arrangements are put into the property the day before the Xmas week booking, so that everything is fresh for that week. However, for your next stay please contact Sykes and request for a Xmas tree and I will make sure that there is one put in for you. Property Owner

Ie TV remotes all had dead batteries or none, and the cleanliness of the hottub could have been better. We did all have a lovely weekend here though.

Apologies about the lack of batteries, they are normally checked, because they do go missing sometimes. However I live locally, a quick phone call would have solved the problem immediately. I was surprised to see that you found the cleanliness of the Hot Tub lacking. There have never been any issues regarding the cleanliness of the hot tub before. It is checked on a regular basis and the water changed frequently between stays. Property Owner

There is no traffic noise, no light pollution and, during the day when we were there in June, the constant chirping of skylarks and bleating of sheep. If you want solitude with a group of friends/family, this is the place to be. If you want to eat out, there are plenty of places within a ten minute drive. If you want to eat in, you've got all the facilities you need. If you want to tour the area, there's plenty to see in Ludlow or Leominster. The hot tub is always welcome especially if you go out for walks, but take a map (OS Explorer 203).
