  • "An amazing little hobbit house."

The attention to detail was brilliant a lovely setting and very peaceful. The cakes we were left were delicious and appreciated the juice in the fridge. We stayed when the weather was cold but the heating made the cottage really cozy. Peter the host was very nice showed us the essentials and was on hand if needed all in all a 5 star experience.

  • "Amazing stay at a wonderful property."

It is charming and unique, and had everything we needed for a cosy weekend stay for two. We are very grateful to the hosts- providing a dairy free welcome pack and introducing us to Daphnie and Duke, their woolly sheep! I’m sure we will be back to stay again

  • "What can I say?"

! It was an absolutely amazing property! My partner and I were blown away by the effort the hosts have put into creating such a homely and unique holiday home. My partner is LOTR obsessed so absolutely loved and appreciated all of the little references and added extras. Bilbo’s Seed Cake was a particular hit with us both, so yummy! Peter was so welcoming and informative, and both hosts ensure everything that we could need was provided for, including some generous added extras. It was such a perfect little break and we can’t thank the hosts enough. We will definitely be back, and have recommended to friends already!

A very cute little hobbit hole for the perfect week away. Pete and Karen are lovely hosts and our neighbors (their sheep) were wonderful to wake up to every morning!

  • "Fantastic stay at Shire's End."

We were amazed by the accommodation with the beautiful attention to detail. A lot of effort has been put in by the owners reflected in the interior but also the little extras that we got to make the stay even better. Everything is needed for your stay. We stayed for 4 nights and cooked each night. Karen and Pete texted prior to arrival regarding a cot bed. They even left out a baby bath and toys which were very helpful and made our first holiday with our 4 month old daughter a breeze. The location is very peaceful too but near supermarkets and National Trust properties. The only improvement that we would say is to have a more powerful shower.

  • "Shires End is wonderful!"

Karen and Pete provided everything that we needed for lovely stay including welcome gifts including home made cake, cookies, crisps and pear cider. I messaged in advance if they would kindly decorate for husband's 60th if I sent decorations. They did a fantastic job and even left a birthday card for him. The kitchen area is very nice and contains everything that we would have at home except we don't have a coffee pod machine,a nice touch. The bathroom was clean with plenty of towels and toiletries. The bedroom is prefect! The bed was lovely and snuggly. The way it's been decorated is great. Also the WiFi is good and has it has a smart TV. Outside, there were 2 seating areas and a lovely little garden with a barbecue fire pit if needed. Our neighbours were the sheep

  • "Had a perfect weekend at Shires End."

The hobbit hole was so cozy and you can tell that the owners have put their heart and soul into creating the space with the added touches that reference back to Tolkien. The welcome basket with local treats, home grown garlic and the honey cakes were delicious! Being able to sit outside and enjoy a cup of tea whilst watching the sheep is so peaceful, an idealic getaway after a busy week. My partner took advantage of the built-in Bluetooth speakers by playing our song as we came back on the Saturday evening and asked me to marry him! The short break was intended as a surprise for him but ended up being a surprise for me too! We look forward to visiting Shires End many times in the future and creating more memories

  • "What an incredible stay in the perfect hobit hole !"

Ample room and well equipped for all your needs. great use of the space, Lots of room considering its a hobbit hole, my 6ft4 boyfriend had plenty space no need to duck or squeeze in. Everything was really clean and tidy with a super comfy and beautiful bed we were so sad to leave behind. Some delicious treats to welcome us including home grown garlic, fresh oj and milk, home made bilbos seed cake everything was delicious! Hosts Peter and Karen went above and beyond for us on multiple occasions we can't thank them enough, Truly amazing kind and friendly people! We Loved our wooly neighbours too and our visits from kitty. Could not think of a better place to propose to my boyfriend for the leap year, i should say my now fiancé! The attention to detail was brilliant so many clever ways to incorporate both the hobbit and lord of the rings in a tasteful way. We cannot wait to come back next year, already planned our next stay ! Thank you for an amazing experience ❤️

  • "We were welcomed very well by Peter & Karen and thoroughly enjoyed the seed cake & other goodies."

The property is small but well arranged. We could have done with more clothes hanging space & a couple of hooks on the back of the bathroom door. We were not particularly comfortable in the easy chairs. We had brilliant weather & sat outside when we could. It would have been handy to have a parasol.

  • "Our stay in Shire’s End was an absolute joy, it is a beautifully appointed and furnished Hobbit Hole and we were loath to leave!"

We had a virtually fully self-catered 7 days and, while quite small as it needed to be, the fridge and freezer were ample and anything we didn’t have we could just pop to Tesco, Sainsbury’s or Morrison’s for - which was super convenient. The location itself is gorgeous and the views incredible. There is so much to see around the area and nearby. Being on the borders of Wales, too, meant visits there as well were straightforward and incredibly scenic! One wish that we’d have is that the mattress be a bit more comfy and the frame itself a bit less creaky - otherwise, we slept well and just cannot knock this incredible place. Our hosts were lovely, left us to it but were also there if we needed them - they left us some hobbit cakes on our welcome, together with some garlic grown last year. Both were utterly delicious!! Just remember to say if you’ve any intolerances/allergies as I’d not even thought to before we left. Finally, watching the extended (of course!!) LOTR trilogy from the imagined purview of a hobbit was an awesome experience!! Stay and have a wonderful time. We hope to return in the near future, too!

Great for exploring the area. Everything we needed was provided and a very thoughtful welcome basket with snacks and homemade cakes was there when we arrived. The only thing we would comment on is the shower was an electric one and wasn’t very powerful, apart from that everything was perfect.
