  • “A fabulous cottage that felt cosy, but was also spacious.”

It was spotlessly clean and had all of the home comforts that it advertised. In addition to the downstairs bathroom there was also an additional toilet and wash hand basin upstairs. It was spotlessly clean and had all of the home comforts that it advertised. In addition to the downstairs bathroom there was also an additional toilet and wash hand basin upstairs. The garden was lovely and I'm sure is a great added bonus when the weather is warm. The village is small and charming and we enjoyed a great Sunday roast at the local pub, which only takes 10 minutes to walk to. We had a little trouble with the heating system, but Vicki, who lives locally and looks after the property, was with us within 15 minutes of our phone call to help us. We are planning to return again next year after a covid vaccine has been found. If travelling via the M5, from the north or south, take the exit at Worcester (A44) to Bromyard and then follow the signs to Pencombe. We were travelling from Dorset and unfortunately followed the sat nav. We left the M5 at the Gloucester junction and the last 5 miles of our journey found us on really tiny country lanes. Very scary when meeting homeward-bound tractors!

The property

This charming, traditional black and white cottage lies in the delightful village of Pencombe in Herefordshire.

It is perfect for walkers, cyclists and families seeking a get-away in a spectacular rural setting.

Comfortable and newly renovated, Causeway Cottage maintains many original features and sits on a lovely, spacious property with terraced garden, fishpond and outdoor dining area.

The lower level of the two-story cottage includes a welcoming dining room and a comfortable sitting room.

With exposed wooden beams, stone fireplace, and some original “wattle,” this room relays the nostalgic charm of this listed, historical building.

The kitchen is well-equipped with new, modern appliances and an area for informal dining that looks onto the garden patio.

The upstairs offers three cosy bedrooms and beautiful views onto the gardens and village church steeple beyond.

The spacious garden is a stand out feature of this property.

It includes a lovely terraced patio area for outside dining and a well-established pond with goldfish and lily pads.

A sloping lawn leads to a small orchard with apple, damson and cherry trees.

A brook with a footbridge and nearby washing pool flows just beyond the edge of the property.

The whole setting is surrounded by flowers, trees and hedges.

Pencombe’s village center is nearby, and the local pub serving hot meals is an easy 5-minute stroll from the cottage.

Walking, riding and cycling paths abound in this beautiful, classic rural landscape, with working farms and nearby National Heritage sites.

Bromyard, a lovely historical market town with shops and restaurants is just 3 miles away – with many charming villages and Leominster, Hereford and Worcester within a 15-mile radius.

Please Note: The garden is enclosed with hedges and three-rail fences and the garden pond does have a safety cover.

However, because of this water feature, as well as the nearby brook and washing pool, parents are advised that children – and especially young children without basic water safety – must be closely supervised.
