  • “We had a lovely stay at Ash Lodge and will definitely return.”

    A few pointers. ...

A few pointers. Don’t use the postcode for the lodge for directions, as this only takes you to a dual carriageway. Use Makins Fishery. The lodges are part of a series of 18 fishing lakes, so there are fish men about on the lake, but it’s a quiet sport so it’s extremely peaceful and calming area. The lodge itself is very well presented, lovely decor and kitchen is fab. Bathroom and en suite are modern and lovely. I wouldn’t say it was spotlessly clean by my standards, but it was generally clean. No complaints, I’m maybe just overly clean. The beds were made and sheets were spotless. The outside deck with table and chairs over looking the lake are fab, we ate out there and had a few drinks, it was so relaxing. And of course the hot tub, this was the reason we booked the lodge we wanted somewhere with a hot tub. Lodges and cabins can be expensive with hot tubs when it’s just the two of you, but Ash Lodge was very reasonably priced. We really made use of the fab hot tub. It was extremely clean and had been freshly filled and heated before our arrival. We were told to leave it running for our stay as it takes awhile to heat if leafy to cool. We couldn’t wait to get back to it after a day in Stratford-upon-Avon. It’s very private as it has a canopy and fenced sides. Perfect! We are planning on returning with friends.

About the location

Nuneaton 5.5 miles; Birmingham 28 miles; Stratford-upon-Avon 28 miles

A delightfully small village in the north of Warwickshire. Wolvey is small yet offers all of your essentials including two very well-respected bar/restaurants along with a village shop, post office, bowling club and the Wolvey Hall, a Grade II listed building dating back to the 17th century. The parish village also has the River Anker running through it and offers some fantastic views, buildings and scenery. Despite this being a charming village, there are a lot of big cities nearby. Should you need to go shopping then Birmingham is within easy access, whereas a more cultural place would be Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare. Closer is the town of Nuneaton, a thriving place offering something for everybody.
