  • "We absolutely loved our stay at Grooms Cottage, it was beautiful and clean as well as very cosy."

The cake was delicious and a very welcome treat. We loved Mabel and Olive they were such well behaved dogs and said hello to us everyday, but were no bother at all. Thank you both so very much. We hope to comeback at some point to explore the area more.

  • "Arguably the nicest cottage we have stayed at."

The property was very spacious which is something we value and the standard of decoration, furniture and equipment was very high. Add to that a beautiful setting, friendly and helpful owners and plenty to see in the surrounding area and there is little you could fault. The adjoining holiday property can hold up to 6 people so the only minor concern would be if you were unlucky and got a bunch of noisy neighbours for you stay.

  • "I had a wonderful stay."

Due to circumstance I found myself holidaying alone but I felt safe and comfortable at Grooms Cottage. Had some good chats with Alistair, the owner. Mable and Olive, the owners friendly dogs, came to say hello too. Basics provided on arrival along with fabulous homemade cakes so you can have a cuppa after your journey. The hosts were friendly and available but didn’t intrude. Plenty to explore in the area and a great Sunday Roast was had in Hallaton. Huge portions! The cottage is clean and cosy. If you get the weather, the patio is a real sun trap all day so take sun cream if you want to sit out. Yes, there’s a country road and yes you can hear cars when they pass but they are so infrequent it’s of no consequence and I echo others in saying this was a very comfy and peaceful holiday. Finally, I was awed by two Red Kites that liked to circle around the fields and above the cottage garden. A great sight.

Well laid out. Comfy evenings spent in the lounge. Made good use of the log fire. Had to rummage to find the extra blankets for bed but all good. A bit isolated but that’s part of its charm. Take wellies or good walking shoes. Beautiful views. Yummy cakes and milk in fridge a nice welcome. Thank you

  • "We enjoyed our stay at Grooms Cottage very much indeed."

The cottage was most comfortably furnished and as well equipped as one’s own home would be with a beautifully modern hob and oven. It was warm, comfortable and spacious and the many added extras were most appreciated (including the delicious “welcome” cake!) The setting (a handy mile and a half from the main A47) in the quiet, rolling east Leicestershire countryside was perfect for a relaxing holiday with lovely vistas and a secure area for the dogs. The owner was very friendly, extremely helpful and left us in private unless we needed him. The resident dogs were gentle and friendly and perfectly behaved. We would thoroughly recommend this cottage especially to those seeking a high quality and quiet dog friendly cottage within easy reach of numerous good eating hostelries and we hope very much to return when we are next down visiting family in Leicestershire.

Ideal for a family holiday and not too far out of village. A lovely large homemade cake awaited our arrival and fresh milk ready for the tea! The cottage was lovely and warm and had a cosy feel. The owners live next door and run the stables at the back. Lovely to see the horses on the field every morning. Had problems with hot water having to shower in cold water one day wasn’t great. Owner was helpful and quick to respond though. You need to take an extra set of towels as only provided with one each so tricky to wash and dry on same day!
