  • "A wonderful, cosy and comfortable cottage."

We had a great pre-Christmas stay with lots of exploring in the area. The location of the cottage is perfect, easy access to lots of things to see and do, plenty of good pubs to eat and drink at and, if the weather isn’t too good, just sitting looking out of the window watching the wildlife. I’d certainly recommend Tub Boat and wouldn’t hesitate to return.

  • "Delightful cottage."

Small things to think about. Dripping kitchen tap. Could do with a Pyrex type dish or oven proof bowl. Brilliant little cottage, just perfect for two and our pet dog. Lovely to wake up to the sound of ducks in the morning. Couldn't believe how many places for breakfast, lunch and evening meals all within easy walking distance. MAWS centre, best breakfast, YHA a commendable second. Woodbridge Inn best meals, and all dog friendly.

! It is the second time I have been and it won't be the last. It is in an ideal spot for walks and pubs (seven within easy walking distance!) and a lovely walk to Ironbridge. It is also a great hub for travelling to other places of interest in Shropshire.

Very comfortable inside, even luxurious with a huge free standing bath, very clean, every need catered for in this lovely historic cottage. Brilliant views and light for me to pursue my artistic dabbling. Great outside space for al fresco meals, even enjoyed breakfast outside and for the pup to relax and enjoy sniffing the fresh air. Numerous lovely walks for the pup too, a new one to explore each day. Really no fault to find, other than perhaps not being able to park at the front door to unload the cases etc. Planning our return trip already.

Thank you, we are glad you will be returning. Kind regards Pat & Al Property Owner

The bedding could have been of a better quality and the TV ( although this is not our priority ) had very bad signals so hence we could only access a few stations. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay at Tub Boat Cottage.

  • "Tub Boat Cottage is our new favourite, excellent location, spotlessly clean, furnished to a very high standard."

Appreciated the fizz and fresh flowers on arrival. We especially liked the cupboard with pictures and artefacts from the local area. Lots of information about things to see and do in the area, we would highly recommend getting a pass to see the Iron Bridge Museums. There are lots of walks to do from the cottage, you can manage without a car. We loved watching the ducks on the little canal. The kitchen area is well equipped and there are plenty of places to eat out nearby.I would have liked to take the roll top bath home, so that means we'll have to visit Tub Boat Cottage again.

Very well located. The extras such as the dog towel, blanket and bowls were a nice surprise. The small drawer units in the bedroom are not really functional for storing clothes eg jumpers. The information folder was useful and used during our stay. The Prosecco and chocolates were a lovely touch. We would be happy to return to Tub Boat Cottage

  • "We first spotted this cottage last year and booked it due to the picturesque outlook and we excited when we saw it was bookable."

We were disjointed that Tub boat cottage does not have a canal view from the garden. The photo of the cottage gives the impression the whole building is what you are renting whereas the building is actually semi detached . While the description is true the actual downstairs is very compact however this does not appear to put off must visitors. The location is ideal for visiting Ironbridge and its museums without resorting to driving. We visited Half moon, Shakespeare Inn and Woodbridge Inn for food and every meal was wonderful. Finally I feel the fees for this cottage are excessive composted for other comparable properties in this location

We’re sorry you didn’t enjoy your stay but the cottage is advertised as a one bedroom 2 person cottage and the photos on Sykes website are accurate. There are wonderful views of the river and canal from both upstairs and down and our little garden is enclosed as we are dog friendly and went our guests both 2 legged and 4 to have a safe and relaxing stay. It was great to be able to not have to use the car and walk to all the local attractions. The steps and stairs may be an issue for some, but the owner's warning is clear in their description. We are both in our 70's and didn't find them a problem. To find a negative is difficult, however, after much head scratching, we missed having a teapot!

If you look at the description of the cottage on Sykes you will see that the open fire is for display purposes only, we are very transparent about all things. Such a cute cottage, we absolutely loved it. Really thoughtful touches. It is an old building beautifully rejuvenated without losing any of it's quirky features. Of course it has steep narrow stairs as all properties of it's type has and you do need to go up a slope or steps to gain entrance but it is so so worth it. Whilst we were aware of the 16 steps down from road to the cottage, we found it hard carrying suitcases, food, etc. from the car parked along the road at the far end of the Shakespeare Inn, up to 100m depending on parking spaces, we found the internal stairs extremely difficult to negotiate, me going up on all fours and my partner coming down backwards. We subsequently lived out of our suitcases downstairs, all week. Otherwise the cottage was absolutely delightful, beautiful, peaceful location, clean and comfortable, well appointed and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Perhaps we could suggest that Sykes makes a little more mention of the internal stairs in particular, as they are not really suitable for the elderly and/or anyone with mobility issues.
