  • "We stayed at The Olde Drill House late November as a surprise for my partners birthday."

The holiday let was lovely and spacious as our party consisted of two couples and two dogs. Access as it states is tricky but I didn’t realise just how tricky

  • "We’ve used Sykes cottages for a few years and I have to say this was the best one yet."

Every thing you need is there. In a great location although some might find the hills a bit of a challenge. On Sunday we did a 7 mile walk around the area visiting the Victorian town. A note to the owners, my wife drop an earring in the bar area which went under the wine cooler, if you’re wondering where the gin sign came from. I think we left a charger lead behind too.

  • "Superb location and wonderful views."

The property is less than 5 minutes from the actual Ironbridge itself. The shower is fantastic! Beds comfy and the kitchen very well stocked. The lovely bar area is delightful. The garage is so very handy. We did manage to reverse up the hill into it though in hindsight this was probably not the best idea!

Best enjoyed with a sundowner! Very comfortable beds and rooms and well equipped kitchen diner. Bathrooms excellent and all very clean. Parking is a bit tricky due to tight roads and corners. Small cars or four wheel drive best. Would book again.

  • "Nice spacious quirky property."

Lovely views from Juliet balcony in lounge. Five minutes walk from the Ironbridge however it is on a steep hill . Situated behind the church which chimes every 15 minutes which was lovely and not in the least bit disturbing. Garage is fairly large we used it for our Landrover freelander however it’s the steep access that can be tricky . Once parked up we never used our vehicle. Ironbridge is lovely, very pretty , many museums and beautiful walks. Lots of places to eat. Can recommend Darcys bistro , The white Hart , The Half Moon . The food was great and prices very reasonable. Suggest booking for evening service . We had a great trip and hope to visit again .

  • "We really enjoyed our stay."

The house was really clean and comfortable and well located for everything in the centre of Ironbridge. Fantastic views over the gorge and the bridge. Very comfortable beds and a hot powerful shower. We just got our car into the garage (large estate with tow bar), it was a bit of a squeeze but worth it not to have to have to park elsewhere.

  • "Beautiful property but not one for disabled & perhaps elderly."

This comment is due to the very steep roads & walkways surrounding the lovely property. Also, we were told no garden, but having large dogs, was not even a little space to let them out in the morning, so had to get dressed quickly a.m. to let them out. Thanks to the large garage, we were able even with Estate Car, to manoeuvre vehicle in & out. Interior as good as top quality Hotel - beautiful!!

  • "We have just come back from a couple of nights stay at The Old Drill House."

Set up on the hill, overlooking the village of Ironbridge, you can see the actual bridge very clearly. What a view! We thought that property itself is immaculate and beautiful. We could tell that thought and care has been taken in each area of the house. We were very impressed with the lay out and loved the little bar area downstairs. The kitchen was very roomy and great for getting together in the morning to eat breakfast and discuss plans for the day. We cooked using the Aga, which was simple to use. The beds were very comfortable and we thought that both bedrooms were spacious. We liked the fact that there were 2 bathrooms and a downstairs toilet. Despite the house sitting on a narrow road, we managed to navigate this OK with our cars. Please thank your neighbours at the bottom of the hill, as they shouted out the window that we could park further up the road when we first arrived. That was much appreciated. We liked the fact that we could walk down to the town easily. Everything was so accessible. The house was fully equipped with everything we needed. All in all, we had a fantastic stay and would love to go back some day!

Interesting museums locally which are worth the Plus Pass offer. We became used to the contours, it is a gorge!, after a couple a days and my hill start, clutch control and turning skills have been well developed. The VW UP fitted easily into the garage.

  • "Lovely location and nicely decorated."

Very clear in description there isn't a garden but does make the property less desirable to stay. The garage was too small for our car (as per expectations) and very tight to get car up road to unload. Shower room had lot of mould and didn't drain properly, to extent had to turn it off half way through washing hair! Kitchen worked well, although no instructions for cooker and could do with some wine glasses. Bed very comfortable, although synthetic pillows not the best.

I have asked our cleaning company to check the shower for me to ensure that this is up to standard. The water pressure is particularly high in Ironbridge, thus the shower is very powerful. Cooker, we thought that this was easy to use however will obtain some instructions and leave at the property for other guests, just in case. As for wine glasses, these plus champagne, gin and pint are located in the bar. Finally pillows are anti-allergy and these are replaced frequently. Sorry to hear that our property has not met your expectations on this occasion as we pride ourselves on high standards as you will see from previous feedback. Property Owner

The people who had trouble finding grass near by, for their dog.. We took ours into the church yard, 30 seconds away! obviously clearing up after her. Would definitely recommend a holiday here. • "Lovely property with an amazing view overlooking the Iron Bridge itself."

Well appointed and cozy, with the Christmas tree adding a great festive touch. We went to carols by the bridge on Christmas Eve which made the day. The garage was just large enough to get our Volvo V60 inside which got easier to park as the week went on, and was really handy as St Luke's Road is too narrow for parking. Recommend Eighty-Six'd cafe on the roundabout for fabulous food with informed and friendly service, or if you want to push the boat out Suree's Kitchen Thai restaurant for superb flavours. A note when arriving - approach from the western end of St Luke's Road as you can't get all the way through from the eastern end.

We knew there was no garden but it was not easy with the dog as we couldn’t find any grass near by for first thing in the morning. So had to take the dog for walk first thing. Summer months that would be ok but not so easy in winter month. But we had a fabulous time and would stay again. Church bell was no problem to us. The beds are amazing for a holiday cottage. Beautifully decorated with an industrial theme. Beds and sofas are all very comfy. Has most kitchen equipment you might require. Worth bearing in mind that the parking, while theoretically available, is not for the faint hearted and you will have to park on Church Road unless you are some sort of parking ninja.

The rooms were all well furnished and very clean. It is situated on the side of a steep hill and the views over Ironbridge from the lounge and kitchen windows are impressive. We would certainly come back. Anyone thinking of booking should be aware that parking is possible problem. There is a garage here but access to it is very tight. Also the bell of the nearby church clock chimes on the quarter hour for 24 hours a day, We got used to it but it might annoy some people.

  • "We had a wonderful week at The old Drill House, made especially so by the fabulous weather."

The accommodation was perfect and very well equipped. As septuagenarians (we’ll one almost and the other definitely) the only draw back for us was the steep incline to/from the property into the ‘town’, which meant we had to rely on the car, which was a shame environmentally, and for our two dogs who felt cheated from a walking point of view. However, my clever husband used his driving skills and had no trouble getting into/out of the garage with our Citroen C5 Aircross, which is by no means a small car. All in all a lovely break, in a lovely town, in a lovely accommodation. No hesitation in recommending whatsoever. Thanks to the hosts.

Spotlessly clean on arrival and we really liked the "steampunk" decor in the sitting room. The ensuite shower was excellent, the beds comfortable and the kitchen well equipped. As we were made aware in the advert the road outside is very narrow. We came in a Toyota Verso and did not attempt to park in the gargage! We found a parking space on the road nearby and it is a short way down to the main street, the Ironbridge itself and some superb walking trails.

Stunning views across the gorge. Beds were very comfortable and an excellent sized kitchen and lounge. Definitely a property with lots of character and history. The only negatives are nothing to do with the property itself but the location being high up the very narrow road also the lack of any outside space at all meaning you can’t just let your dog out but have to take out on a lead. Road closures around the area meant we struggled to find it at first !

Comfortable, warm and everything you need for a break away. Perfect as a base for exploring the surrounding area. We didn't attempt the drive up to the house and parked on the adjacent road, which is also narrow but manageable. Being located near the top of the valley the house has got fantastic views, it's a short walk to the centre of Ironbridge and is a steep walk back. Ironbridge itself is a fabulous place, we loved our time spent here. Blists Hill was good but overpriced if you're only going to visit one of the museums in the group. I'd recommend Surees Kitchen, expensive but excellent quality. The only thing missing from the house were tea towels!

There was plenty to see and do in Ironbridge, lots of different places to eat and the accommodation was spot on; it was comfortable, very clean, there was plenty of space, it had everything you need for a short break and the views were amazing! My tips/suggestions: If driving bring a small car if you want to make use of the properties garage. A small car will also make driving a little easier as the roads near the property are very narrow in places. Having access to a car is great but try to explore as much as you can on foot; Ironbridge and the surrounding areas are beautiful. There are plenty of places to eat but not all of them are open every day, so make note and book in advance to avoid disappointment during peak periods.
