  • "The Coach House is beautiful, nice and clean."

The bedrooms are brilliant and the beds were very comfortable with quality bedding on them. There’s everything you need in the Coach House to feel home from home. The Wi-Fi was brilliant and there’s free view Tv. The Coach House is in a lovely village, there’s 2 pubs, we would recommend the All Nations pub. Plus the best chip shop to use is Andy’s fish bar in Madeley. We walked from Madeley to Iron Bridge in 40 mins through the wood opposite the Bliss Hill Village, which is another nice place to visit. We would definitely recommend if your thinking of visiting the area book the Coach House you won’t be disappointed

Hi Samantha We are so pleased that you enjoyed the facilities of the Coach House whilst exploring what the local area offers. It was kind of you to take the time to share your views. Thanks for choosing the Coach House. Kind regards Nick & Clare Property Owner

The bedrooms feature fine bedding and extremely comfortable beds and it was hard to get up in the mornings! The kitchen has everything to hand and the lounge is spacious and relaxing. There is ample private and safe parking and the garden is a haven of peace. Madeley has shops and restaurants and the location is perfect for Ironbridge. the museums and fabulous walks in and around the River Severn. Clare and Nick are wonderful hosts who could not do enough to make us feel welcome and comfortable. Come and stay and you won't be disappointed.

  • "A superb Coach House converted to a very high standard with large kitchen dinner and lounge, there is a shower room with toilet and two bedrooms (one with an on-suit shower room but no toilet) and the property is situated close by to all amenities and a short distance to many historical sites around the Ironbridge area; in fact walking distance to Blists Hill Victorian museum."

The Coach House is located next to St Michael's delightful Georgian built anglican church and in the grounds of the Georgian Old Vicarage, which has historic links to John Wesley and the early Christian Methodist movement. After the battle of Worcester during the English Civil War, prince Charles, who was later to become Charles ll King of England, was hidden in the village and in other locations not to distant away, which can be visited. One can therefore follow part of Charles's trail as he journeyed to Bristol and then on to Brighton to escape to France. The owners of this property are very helpful and friendly and add pleasure and to one's stay.

Many thanks for such comprehensive feedback. There is so much to discover about the area and its significance. Blists Hill and the associated sites help with imagining how life was in Victorian times but as you have pointed out there is lots more beside this. Thanks also for your kind observations about the property, it was a pleasure meeting you all. Kind regards Nick and Clare Property Owner

  • "The location and cottage was lovely."

Our only surprise was that there were none of the normal consumables we have always found in Sykes Cottages. No washing up liquid, handwash, shampoo, spare rubbish bags and no spare toilet rolls. We were able to buy them in the local Tesco but I would suggest that these are relatively cheap for the owners to provide. It would also have been really helpful to have a map of Madeley in the information folder. Showing things to do in Madeley including the Community Orchard which we came upon by chance, the actual footpath to Blists Hill and anything else that would be worth a visit. The temperature in the main shower was also difficult to control. It was not possible to have a cool shower.

We are so sorry that you were disappointed in anyway. It would have been great to have heard some of these comments during your visit as we always provide washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets in the kitchen and a spare toilet roil is kept in the vanity unit. The kitchen has a twin bin for general waste and recycling with the larger outdoor bins across the courtyard. It is rare that people need more capacity, But again additional bags are available upon request. In common with many modern showers, the thermostatic control has a safety button to press when moving from warm to hot and having had a quick look I must assume that it needs to be pressed to allow you to select the cooler settings also. You did mention the shower to us and we offered to get a plumber in but after leaving you 3 messages and getting no reply we had assumed you had overcome this issue. There is also a bowl with a wide selection of leaflets covering local activities. Nevertheless, We are so pleased you enjoyed both the cottage and were able to take full advantage of the location. Thanks for the feedback and best regards. Nick & Clare Property Owner

  • "What can I say, other than Fantastic."

The Coach house is very well appointed - everything you need for a relaxing break and perfectly located as a base to visit all the Ironbridge Gorge Museums. The kitchen is very well equipped and spacious - in the fridge waiting for us was milk, butter and a loaf on the side which was a lovely touch. The living room has two very large comfortable settees and an enormous TV. Upstairs the bedrooms are a good size with very comfortable beds, one with an ensuite shower which was lovely and powerful. The main bathroom with its again powerful walk in shower was a pleasure to use. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. On arrival we were warmly greeted by Nick the owner, who handed the keys over and explained everything. He explained where all the local facilities were (Tesco's a 2 minute walk) and how to get there. He recommended The Woodbridge Inn on the banks of the River Severn for food and it didn't disappoint. He also recommended The All Nations Inn on Coalport Road, an 8 minute walk, all be it down the hill, for quality Cask Ale and a friendly pub. Again we were not disappointed, spending most evenings in there chatting to the very friendly locals, as though we were ones ourselves and been going there for years. Overall - one of the best Sykes Cottages we have been to.

Located in the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site, the Old Vicarage is steeped in history, having been home to John Fletcher, a close friend of Charles Wesley and the founders of Wesleyan Church.

Behind the Listed gate piers is an enclosed area with parking in the grounds, perfect for two couples.

Step inside to discover the spacious kitchen/diner, certain to entice budding chefs with its electric oven and hob; when dishes are piping hot, gather at the dining table and toast to your hideaway.

Moving through the home, admire the hard wooden floors as you locate the sitting room, bright and airy with a TV to find your favourite shows and a sofa to curl up with a good book.

Throw open the solid wooden gates and let the light floor in, or unwind in the communal garden area, here you can savour a cup of tea on the furniture and soak in the history of your location.

As the weather turns cool, retire inside, and climb upstairs to discover two beautifully presented king-size bedrooms, one with an en-suite shower and both offering high, vaulted ceilings with featured shutters.

Awaken with a rinse in the shower room before rustling a home-cooked meal in the kitchen area or take a short stroll to a quirky café.

For a quick pint there is Six Bells, Madeley, whilst a longer stroll will take you to the All Nations Inn, a historic brew-house and true community pub.

To stock up on essentials, head to Boulton's Butchery, where you'll find fresh, locally sourced meats, a magnificent deli counter and a selection of artisan breads, why not grab some tapas or popcorn for a movie night in Surrounded by scenic walks and a network of cycling trails, head to one of the ten local museums that celebrate the areas industrial heritage, or head to the heart of Telford through the greenery of Telford Town Park or embark on a hike along the South Telford Heritage Trail.

Be sure to visit the ancient village of Ironbridge, here you can meander along the first cast iron bridge or stroll along the River Severn.

Close-by is the Blists Hill Victorian Town, an open-air museum with a traditional fish and chip shop adding to the sights, sounds and smells of the late 19th and early 20th Century.

For those wishing to explore a little further afield, Weston Park and Attingham Park offer great walks and historic country houses; Bridgnorth, Shrewsbury and Ludlow are historic towns each with their own character, whilst the RAF Museum at Cosford is free and boasts fascinating Cold War exhibits.
