  • "Delightful little gem of a cottage - perfect for our visit to local family and friends."

A cosy sitting room and surprisingly spacious and well equipped kitchen, outside utility with washing machine, in a tiny yard, and comfortable bedroom and bathroom up a typical traditional steep staircase above. Reminded us of our first home many years ago which we loved dearly! We greatly enjoyed our stay, a minor problem was quickly sorted by both Sykes Cottages and the cottage owner, for which our grateful thanks, and we loved our welcoming wine and nibbles! Altogether a delightful stay, and we hope to return again. Thank you!

  • "Lovely cottage in a beautiful town!"

The cottage was very clean and well equipped with everything we could need. On arrival there was a welcome pack which was a nice gesture. It's ideally positioned with shops and local pubs serving food (which we're all good) a few minutes walk away. The only couple of things that could be improved was the lounge carpet which was stained and worn. A foot stool for the chair would make it more comfortable and the windows on the front would help if they opened. Apart from those it was perfect and we will definitely recommend to others.

  • "We had a really lovely stay at the cottage but there were a few issues that need addressing."

Firstly, it doesn't mention when booking that the bedroom and lounge windows do not open. Being a woman of a certain age this was quite a problem. We only found this out by reading the review left by the previous people 2 days before our holiday was due to start. The fan that is supplied needs to be replaced as the blades hardly rotate and is of NO USE whatsoever. Luckily again thanks to the previous people we took along one of our own. Also we were asked to leave the cottage in the same condition as we arrived, which wouldn't have been a problem if the vacuum supplied worked. There was no suction AT ALL. Please replace both vacuum and fan and if something can't be done about the windows then at least state it on the cottage details. Would we stay again ? Yes we would but only as an autumn/winter break so that the windows wouldn't be of such an issue and we could try out the log burner.

  • "The cottage is lovely - comfortable, clean and bright with everything that you could possibly need."

We shared others' dismay at not being able to open the bedroom window but the dressing room and the shower room windows opened, allowing some air in. The windows downstairs do not open but ventilation is possible via the front (with the chain on) and back doors. The owners' description of "steep stairs" should be noted. Parking is available close by within sight of the cottage. Much Wenlock is delightful as is the surrounding area so there's plenty to do.

What can we say it was better in person and the pictures do not show this cozy cottage at its best and have to say the best equipped holiday rental we have ever been it to. The welcome pack was a nice touch which included Prosecco, chocolates, crisp etc. Location great and we didn’t have any trouble finding a parking spot, you will find all the amenities in the village more than enough and the George & Dragon Inn served excellent food with great hospitality. The only thing we would change would be the kettle due to the scale but all in all a well deserved break and we will definitely be booking this cottage again.

so I felt really at home, thank you. It was really nice and warm with central heating and The house had everything anyone could need with utensils etc, and plenty of nice towels etc. I didn’t have a problem with parking at all, my car was parked on the road within sight all 5 nights I stayed. The one negative is that it wasn’t what I would consider spotlessly clean. The kitchen utensils and towels and linen were all clean but the carpet is dirty, as is inside the oven. Overall a nice stay in a cosy cottage, with clearly considerate owners - thank you.

Main issue for us was being unable to open upstairs front window & the fan to keep cool was not adequate. Didn’t realise how steep the stairs were but if you took it slowly & carefully there was no issue ,we appreciate there’s nothing you can do about that. Basin wouldn’t keep the water there , it just kept draining away. Struggled to control the water temperature when in the shower, it was too hot. TV could with an upgrade to a larger model. Parking no problem. We would stay again if we plan on heading that direction again. Welcome pack very much appreciated

We wanted a really cosy, old (but with modern facilities), character full cottage within an easy walk of a little market town with pubs and shops - and that is exactly what we got. Really great cottage with a nice big kitchen (with all the utensils and cooking items you want), lovely bedroom (fantastically comfortable, big bed), cute lounge with log burner and a small outside area with table and chairs. All the facilities you want and well decorated and kept. And Much Wenlock is beautiful and characterful. 5 pubs, 2 pub restaurants, a pottery (with bar), Indian restaurant and Chinese take-away, great butchers, bakers, 3 coffee/tea cafes, 2 small supermarkets and a friendly deli plus a chocolate shop, all within 3 minutes walk!!!! The stairs are old, and very steep with small steps so whilst they are part of the character of the cottage you need to be mobile enough to navigate them.

The welcome basket was filled with wonderful goodies - we especially loved the chocolates, a real treat. We only stayed a couple of nights - probably the hottest nights of the year with amazing thunderstorms.
