  • "We had a wonderful relaxing time here at the courtyard."

The cottage was beautifully presented and had everything we needed, bin bags, washing up liquid ect. It was my mom's first time at a cottage and she was very impressed and loved it. My only negative comment was on the second day when we went to use the hot tub, at the bottom was all black bits. We didn't see it the day before we we didn't use it until dark, but we felt it, I genuinely believe it's bits from the jets but either way it wasn't nice to sit on it. Other than this everything else was perfect.

The hot tub and gifts when we arrived made it feel classy and definitely worth the price. What would’ve made it even better is if there were fairy lights or so round near the hot tub to save having on the brighter light (just a recommendation not a complaint).

The prosecco and chocolates were a lovely surprise too! We really valued our Privacy throughout our stay. A couple of suggestions would be to install a long mirror and a lamp as lighting was a little bright in the evening. Other than that, perfect! Even though we didn't meet you, we felt very welcome! • "Hi, we loved our Anniversary weekend at The Courtyard."

The size of the accommodation was just right for two, and thank you so much for the welcome pack. Came in handy on the first evening as we arrived too late to eat out. Amazing bed too, and more than large enough to accommodate two plus size occupants. The location and views were amazing. A few constructive points of possible improvements: 1. The hot tub was not as private as we thought it would be. Windows overlooked the area (even though the curtains were sensitively closed during our stay). There was also no lock code in your information pack for the straps holding the cover down. We were also put off by workers going back and forth just outside the gate (I realise it is a working farm, but it wasn't exactly a relaxing atmosphere). It was a pity as we had looked for accommodation with a hot tub specifically, as I have Fibromyalgia so thought it would help. 2. No info was provided with regards to local pubs/restaurants/sightseeing. Would have loved some recommendations from the owner to best eateries. We ended up at the Gaskell Arms, which we found to have a very basic dated menu/interior, and an older clientele, but with very good food. All in all though, we would still recommend the Courtyard to anyone wanting a romantic relaxing getaway.

Thank you for your feedback we greatly appreciate it and pride ourselves on getting things right, and congratulations on your anniversary I would like to add that the courtyard is very private if you shut the large gates to the enclosed area which in turn would also keep you private from the working farm during the busy harvest period. Most of the time there is no traffic. In query of the hot tub, we feel this is made very private by the array of fencing strategically installed for the most privacy and the cover is latched by the clip which you mentioned. There is not a code with this it is simply just to align the number presented. Finally within the one draw of the dressing table there is many leaflets of places to visit and explore locally which we are gutted you did not come across. Many thanks again for your feedback and we hope to welcome you again in the future Best regards Will Property Owner

We Would definitely book again as a very peaceful location and felt very relaxed. Some nice touches including a welcome pack by the owner, who we spoke to on our last day and was very pleasant. The pictures on this site really don't do it justice! Comfy bed and sofa, cosy dining area, practical kitchen which had everything we needed and a lovely bathroom. Every room was spotlessly clean. The skylights made it bright and airy. We had glorious weather for our Bank Holiday break so we made full use of the hot-tub after long days out walking. We had to call Will to find where the public footpath was but he was kind enough to point us in the right direction and we soon found our bearings. Beautiful views surround the area which can be seen from the swing made for big kids at heart! We ventured the area and local attractions including The George and Dragon pub, Gaskell Arms, the Pottery, the Priory, Much Wenlock Museum, Wenlock Edge and we even used the map in The Courtyard to do the walk from Much Wenlock to Ironbridge via the Shropshire Way. A day out in Shrewsbury was also definitely worth a small bus ride, very pretty with lots to see and do. Definitely a romantic retreat that I would highly recommend. The welcome goodies were a nice touch. Thank you for a brilliant break, we look forward to returning.

In a beautiful tranquil setting enjoying the privacy of a walled garden it was so relaxing sitting in the hot tub with a glass of Prosecco. The welcome pack and fresh eggs was an absolute treat and most welcoming. Very COVID safe - thank you. There was limited wifi signal - thankfully I left work at home and didn't need it but the owners are aware of this and left a note to say this was being addressed. Yes I would recommend to friends and family and would definitely book again.”

We understand we were only the third booking for The Courtyard. The place is exceptionally clean and is well thought out. The owner was welcoming and accessible but gave us our own time and space as appropriate. The welcome gifts were a lovely touch - mini bottles of wine and later the first evening beautiful eggs from the farm. There was a problem with the WiFi but we know this was being looked into with the provider and most of the time we were out enjoying the beautiful countryside. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay again if we were visiting this area.

The property

The Courtyard is a delightful single-storey annex adjoining the main farmhouse on Bourton Westwood Farm, surrounded by green fields, home to grazing livestock and offering stunning views over towards The Wrekin.

Tucked away in its own private courtyard, this one bedroom annex nestles the fringes of Much Wenlock, in well-known Shropshire.

Situated on a working farm you can admire the lovely farm buildings combining traditional and modern aspects as well as the acres of land encompassing you.

This is the ideal spot for a couple to enjoy a romantic break together, away from the busyness of everyday life.

You will be welcomed into this humble abode via a Roman-style courtyard garden home to a variety of plants and shrubbery thriving on a fresh spring day.

Step inside to the main room, which is furnished to a lovely standard and has a double bed, seating area and a dining table where tasty meals can be enjoyed, cooked up in the separate kitchen.

Each morning, you can wake up to a refreshing shower before preparing a delicious breakfast and morning coffee, which you can take out onto the garden table should you wish.

Your evenings can be spent winding down with a bottle of champagne before you soak in the bubbly hot tub, taking the edge off a long day exploring the hills and country trails.

The beautiful, medieval town of Much Wenlock is just moments away by car, bike or on foot, where you’ll find traditional shops and a plethora of history.

The architecture is varied throughout and you will be impressed by its fabulous blend of Georgian, Victorian and Medieval buildings.

Visit the ruins of Wenlock Priory, go to Ironbridge Gorge Museums and even discover the National Trust’s Benthall hall boasting a pretty garden and oak-panelled interior.

Climb the summit of one of Shropshire’s iconic hills and marvel at the mesmerising views atop The Wrekin.

It provides the perfect walk one summer’s evening when the sun is setting and the peace and quiet consume your thoughts as you gaze across green fields.

This ancient hilltop fortress is part of one of the best walks in Shropshire; however, you can try many others while you are visiting the area.

You might fancy a visit over to Church Stretton and walk along the Long Mynd before you discover its National Trust shop for a cup of tea or a spot of tasty food at one of the pubs.

Further afield you have Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Kidderminster for a varied day out, but however you choose to spend your time a stay at The Courtyard is just what you need.
