"We had a fantastic week."
The cottage was in a lovely quite position and yet convenient for shops, restaurants and takeaways. It had everything you needed and more. It was in an ideal place to explore the Cotswolds. We met Kate the owner who was lovely. We would definitely come back.

"Great location for Stratford (walking distance) and other attractions like Warwick But the property needs better housekeeping, there were lots of dust webs and spiders, litter in front garden and no towels for main bedroom."
Towels were sorted on day two a litter on day two so fairly quick response.

"A lovely cottage."
Well kept. Clean. Well maintained. Well stocked . Largely as described. Shower off double bedroom a little weak but OK. Car could be taken up to little gate to load and unload then parked up against the wall reserved for Longbarn bookings. Just a little confusing at first finding it off the entrance drive since the caravan place has built a new reception office a free yards down from the old one. Need to say after passing the bowling club on your left turn sharp right almost immediately to go past white cottage and the long walk for parking appears in front of you. Turn right to get into little courtyard to unload.

"A lovely comfortable cottage."
Very quiet, we heard no noise from the nearby Holiday park, which you can't see from the cottage. The ferry hadn't started running but we used the Park and Ride to visit Stratford-upon-Avon. A perfect location to visit the many National Trust properties nearby. A few small issues with the bin in the kitchen and plumbing, but it was lovely to have 2 ensuite bedrooms.
-
"Overall very nice cottage with excellent facilities and everything you would need for a week's getaway."
The saniflo toilet system can be quite noisy at night's but we got used to it after a day or two. Location is very good and a 20-30 minute walk to town or 5 minute drive. The park has a nice clubhouse area with bar and restaurant. Very clean property. Recommended for a week away in Stratford Upon Avon

"This place is amazing."
Lovely and private in a great location. Everything in the cottage is lovely. Cooker was great to use, lovely china to eat from and very comfortable furnishings. Would definitely stay again. Thank you.

"Stronger reading lights over the bed and atlease one in the living area would help - generally lovely."

Thank you for your lovely feedback. Glad you enjoyed your stay at Meg’s Cottage Property Owner

"This is a really nice place to stay, and we wouldn’t hesitate in rebooking when we are next coming to Stratford."
One thing that would be helpful would be to have some sheer curtains behind the main curtains in the master bedroom that could be drawn when the main curtains are drawn back in the mornings as you are overlooked when in the bed or dressing. Also, whilst the showers are adequate the pressure is very low so taking a shower is not much of an enjoyable experience. Overall everything was really well thought out and it was a very enjoyable stay.
Thank you for your feedback. We do appreciate recommendations and we will certainly look to getting some voile curtains in the main bedroom. We will take a look at the shower pressure also. Thank you for your kind comments. Property Owner

"It is a pleasant cottage with easy parking neaby."
It is well equipped and comfortable. Although we didn't know it was at the end of a holiday park, this became an advantage as it was in a quiet spot and there was a restaurant and river taxi into town close by.

"We had a lovely week."
The cottage is very cosy but spacious. Very comfortable beds, sofas, dining chairs and outside seating. An efficient electric fire for the chilly nights was very welcome. It was well equipped, we did not want for anything extra. The location was very central for sight seeing and good shops and pub nearby. The local bowls club just a few hundred yards away was handy to be recommended to us, it offered reasonable drink prices and Sky Sports showing. Couple of minor questions were responded to very quickly by text from the owners.
Thank you for your lovely feedback. We are so lucky to be so well located for local amenities yet still tucked away for the peace and quiet. We do hope you will come back and stay with us at Megs Property Owner

"We loved our stay here and gave taken our time over giving feedback because we weren't sure whether to mention the cleanliness as most of our experience was positive."
We know from speaking to the owner that she has a housekeeper and would like to advise she either hires another or speaks to her/him.. most of the cottage was lovely and clean but the kitchen table, chairs and under the table had crumbs from a previous guests stay and on the kitchen side when I wiped it with a wet kitchen roll in the corner behind the kettle it came away black.. this was enough to send us to the shop to buy cleaning products. My husband chased our child's pencil down the side of the sofa and it was full of crumbs too.. That being said the cottage was overall the perfect location for visiting the area and we did enjoy our stay here. We met the owner and she was lovely and very helpful. With a note to the WiFi as people have had problems in the past, while we were their the owner was in the process of updating the WiFi, this was completed on our second day and once done it workes perfectly and we had no issues. I would recommend this cottage to other people, the only reason we mention the cleaning is we think the owner is being taking advantage of by the cleaner.
-
"Megs cottage is lovely, very well kitted out comfortable and well furnished."
The location is perfect for Stratford and is within walking distance if you have no mobility issues. I would highly recommend this property and give it 9/10 if it wasn’t for the saniloo’s they are noisy especially at night and smelly during the day and no matter how much you spray the air the smell remains. Such a shame!
-
"Enjoyed our stay and will consider staying again in the future, would suggest that the shower tray in the double bed room was resealed."
-
"The location was perfect and the cottage was good however it was let down by the cleanliness."
When we arrived the cottage had not been cleaned after the previous guests so we contacted the owner who arranged for the cleaner to visit, so we left the cottage so the cleaner could get the cottage cleaned but when we returned it was obvious that the cleaning had been rushed. The cottage is in desperate need of a thorough clean throughout as can be seen by the mould in the shower, the dust on the furniture and the general appearance. We e-mailed Sykes photos demonstrating the lack of cleanliness but have not had any response as yet. The only other issue we had was the internal doors scrapping on the floor.
Thank you for your feedback. Our sincere apologies for the cleaning issue. The last minute booking caught us out unfortunately and it slipped through our cleaning schedule. We would very much like to welcome you again and would certainly offer you a considerable discount if you do. Apologies again. Andrea Property Owner

"My wife and I stayed for a week with our two boys, 4 & 7, at the end of August ‘22."
Meg’s Cottage is lovely. All on one level apart from three steps up into one bedroom at one end. This bedroom has two single beds and was ideal for our boys. It has an en-suite shower room and hanging storage. At the other end is a double room with another en-suite shower room, with wardrobe and drawer storage. The rest of the cottage is open plan lounge, kitchen, dining room which is light, airy and well appointed. Really easy to find and to access. Next to a holiday park which has a bar and restaurant venue which had an outdoor cinema, kids play area and mini golf area. It also had a river taxi (6 people at a time) but there was often a long wait for this so we didn’t use it. Great location as it was easy to drive to Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwick and surrounding areas like Bidford-on-Avon. Really quiet area too. Parking next to the cottage with a convenience store, pub and restaurants within walking distance. I would definitely recommend this cottage
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. It really makes what we offer so rewarding. Hope to welcome you back again one day. Property Owner

"We thouroughly enjoyed our stay at Meg's Cottage."
It was clean, comfortable and beautifully appointed. We walked to and from Stratford a couple of times which took about 25 minutes. As we were staying here during a period of glorious weather we quite enjoyed our walks. The cottage provided an excellent base for exploring the area with local amenities only a very short walk away- we enjoyed a superb chinese takeaway from Tiddington and found the local Spar very handy for basics and so on. The Riverside venue which is located a few hundred yards away was an unexpected but lovely addition to our stay, ideal for a drink and meal. Overall we were extremely pleased with Meg's Cottage and would not hesitate to recommend to others and hopefully return to stay again in the future.
Thank you for your lovely review and feedback. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

"Everything about Megs Cottage was perfect."

"Meg's Cottage is about a 20 minutes walk from Stratford on Avon and a good base from which to explore the town."
It is a very comfortable cottage in terms of beds and sofas but disappointing in other ways. From the photos of the property, I expected an open outlook but the cottage looks out on a walled courtyard and is situated on the edge of a caravan site through which you drive to reach it. Caravans can be seen from one of the bedroom windows. The kitchen while well appointed, is basically equipped. The plumbing is noisy when toilets, showers, basins or kitchen sink are used.
So glad you enjoyed your stay at our cottage. The photos of the property do show the private courtyard, which is mentioned in the description. You can see the view from the bedroom and kitchen windows in the photographs too, a view that overlooks our courtyard. We are sorry you wanted an open outlook. The property isn't part of the adjacent Riverside Caravan Park, the boundary of which is about 200 yards from it. You do drive along a private road that runs alongside the park, which is also fenced off , before turning into the private drive and courtyard for Megs Cottage and The Bolt Hole. I must say, nobody has ever said that before so I checked it out, out of curiosity. You really would have to crane your neck, at a 90 degree angle, out of an open window of the 2nd bedroom to see the perimeter fence of the caravan park that is 200 yards away. I'm not really sure what else would be needed for a 5-7 day stay in a holiday home. We have included what we can think of, but happy to add items to make a stay more comfortable, preferably at the start of a stay rather than afterwards, so we can help to make the holiday as enjoyable as we can for our guests.. Due to our proximity to the river and the land levels around the area, there is a Saniflo system that pumps waste water from the toilets, shower and sinks out to the main drainage system. The pump will make a low grumbling noise briefly when it is activated. I am afraid there is nothing we can do about that. Thank you for your comments, we aim to improve the cottages all the time. "We loved our stay in Megs cottage."
It is clean and comfortable, with plenty of space in the kitchen/ lounge and lots of hot water, etc. It’s well equipped. It has a peaceful, rural feel, despite being only about 20/ 25 minutes flat walk into Stratford Upon Avon. We enjoyed sitting out in the quiet garden. By the way, a parasol / awning would be advantageous. Both doors to the bedrooms would benefit from some planing to stop them scraping on the floor.
Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We are going to get the bedroom doors looked at as soon as we can. We will get a parasol ready for the forthcoming sunny months Property Owner

"Fine cottage in a great location."
Comfy and cosy. Plumbing a little noisy but not too much of a problem. As a bit of a cook, more pans and general kitchen equipment would have been useful! A great place to stay to visit the area.
Thank you for your feedback. We have now replaced all saucepans, frying pan and wok. We will take a look to see what else we could provide in terms of kitchen equipment. Glad you enjoyed your time with us. Property Owner
-
"Level of equipment in the cottage was fine for two people but would have been an issue if four were staying e."
G. only 4 dinner plates. Hob was very slow. Toilet pumps are very noisy! The location was fantastic and the cottage was very peaceful.
Thank you for your feedback. We will look into putting more plates. The hob is actually being replaced this week as well as a new work surface in the kitchen. Due to the property location, toilets etc are on a saniflow system which makes them more noisy than the usual systems. Glad you enjoyed the location, we really are well located for Stratford and surrounding areas. Property Owner
-
"A Caffetier would have made it wonderful."
We had to go out and buy one.
Thank you for your comments. We used to have a digital coffee machine in each holiday let and 90% of our guests never used them, so we removed them. However at the time of your stay there was actually still one in the kitchen cupboard next to the fridge. Glad you had a lovely time in Stratford. Property Owner
-
"We had a lovely week at Megs cottage the only small negatives being an unpleasant odour from the Sami flow toilets and the fact there was no hand soap in the bathroom."
Thank you for your feedback Lorraine. We will look into why there was a smell from the toilets as we understand this must have been very unpleasant for you. We usually put hand soap in all en-suites, must have been an oversight. Thank you for letting us know. Property Owner

"Very comfortable and convenient for Stratford."
Unfortunately two of our party were taken Ill so could not enjoy our stay but t have to say thank you to the host Andrea for her kindness and understanding.
Thank you for your lovely feedback. It was a real shame two in your party were taken ill whilst away to enjoy your break. We hope to see you back again soon though Property Owner

"We had a very relaxing and peaceful stay at Meg's Cottage."
The property was warm and very comfortable, especially the sofas! After reading the previous reviews, we were prepared for intermittent wifi. However, the owners have now rectified this and we had no issues with it, including the use of the smart tv. The cottage is situated in a beautiful area with lots to see and do locally. We can recommend Aladdins Indian restaurant and the Riverside restaurant for food/drink, both of which are within walking distance. We also visited Stratford, Warwick Castle and Charlecote Park which were lovely days out and all within 15 minutes drive. The Dirty Duck pub in Stratford is well worth a visit too. We would recommend Meg's Cottage for those wanting a peaceful retreat. The owners were easily contactable for any queries and we would definitely stay in their cottage again.
Thank you for your lovely feedback. So glad you enjoyed your stay with us and enjoyed everything Stratford and surrounding areas has to offer. Property Owner

"The property was comfortable but we noticed that the kitchen work surface was coming apart at the joints and needs replacing."
A welcome book would have been nice to say what to do with the bin bags as their was no outside bin. The doors need adjustment so that they opened without scraping against the floor. The WiFi definitely needs to be sorted as it packed up on the first day their. Thank you for the welcome package of the milk and juice. We found the cottage value for money.
Thank you for your comments. Update: The entire kitchen work surface has been replaced. The welcome packs had to be removed due to Government Covid-19 regulations sadly, but there is a laminated sheet . The wifi has been replaced either brand new Mesh system and it works beautifully . Consructive comments like yours are always very welcome, thank you Property Owner

"The house was very nice, comfortable and well equipped , maybe put in the listing that there is only a view of a back fence of a neighbours house."
Maybe get the internal doors fixed, really loud scraping on the floor. Plus points, nice and quiet, access to the river taxi and pub/cafe on site. Good restaurants and pub quarter of a mile away and stratford five minute drive away.
-
"The cottage is surrounded with interesting places to visit which are not very far to travel."
Also you can walk into Stratford easily or take the water taxi which is fun.
-
"This was our second stay at Meg's Cottage and would come back again should we have another visit to Stratford upon Avon."
The cottage is very comfortable and the 2 en-suite rooms make it very convenient. The location is only a 30 minute walk from the centre of the town and on a good bus route to Warwick and Leamington Spa.

"Lovely cottage, comfortable beds, pleasant venue and nicely provisioned accomodation."
As others have commented the wifi wasn't reliable. I would have preferred to be aware of the caravan and camping site next to the cottage when I made the booking rather than finding out when the directions arrived. Though we were not the least disturbed and heard no noise. Finally given the time of covid I was surpised to find open food items of flour, oil, and unopened juice and milk, presumably left by the previous occupants in the cupboard/fridge. I was also surprised the oven glove and kitchen towels were used and assumed the previous occupant had left them. Thankfully we had our own with us. There were also socks in a bedroom drawer. These were minor things but affected my feelings about the accomodation and made me doubt it had been properly cleaned, as did the sticky kitchen floor. I would have expected any items like this to have been removed and the floor to be cleaned.
We are very happy that you enjoyed your stay at Megs Cottage. We put our heart and soul into creating two holiday properties from a historic grade 2 agricultural barn and we are constantly looking for ways to improve the holiday experience of our guests. You have brought to our attention points that "were minor things but affected my feelings about the accommodation", therefore we would like to answer those points below. We are aware that the wifi signal is intermittent in the area, as stated on our property details. Most guests are ok with this on a relaxing break, but we are trying to find a reliable solution. There is the perimeter of a very nice managed caravan park about 200 meters away on the approach to Megs Cottage, which has never caused us any issues, especially as all you can see is a handful of well-kept static caravans. In fact you can't even see them from the holiday cottage and we are situated in a private gated courtyard. It is actually a bonus that our guests can use the caravan park's lovely riverside restaurant and bars, the laundrette as well as the very handy riverboat taxis to visit historic Stratford-upon-Avon without taking the car. We apologise for missing one pair of socks left by one of our previous guests in the back of a drawer. We will be more vigilant. Regarding the "unopened juice and milk, presumably left by the previous occupants in the cupboard/fridge", we leave a simple welcome pack of tea, coffee, sugar milk, juice and other provisions which most of our guests appreciate. We apologise if you felt the floor wasn't as clean as you would expect. We will address this with our cleaners of course. Thank you for your feedback, it helps us to improve our accommodation and the holiday experience of our future guests. Thank you for staying with us and we hope to see you again soon. Property Owner

"Lovely period Barn conversation."
The owners were very helpful and informative. Only 1 mile from Stratford upon Avon so great location for all local amenities. Water taxi ride was great and very reasonably priced.

"Top class accommodation"
-
"The property was in a nice location, close to Stratford, but far enough out to be quiet, with some local amenities such as a shop and restaurants."
The furnishings were nice and the sofas were comfy, and we liked the character of the property. We appreciated the 2 bathrooms, although the toilets used macerators and were very noisy. However, this is the most expensive 2 bedroomed property we have ever stayed in (presumably partly due to covid) and we felt there were some things lacking given the cost of the holiday. There were gaps at ceiling level between the 3 rooms which meant that noise travelled freely, making sleep difficult if anyone else was in the main living area. We felt there could have been more crockery as there were only 4 of a number of items. As it was the height of summer, an outdoor dining table and chairs with umbrella would have been a useful addition so that a meal could be eaten outside. As others have said the wifi was very poor, and we felt that the cleaning could have been better in some areas (eg the bedrooms which were dusty in places and had numerous spiders). Overall the space was quite small, probably better suited for a autumn/winter short break rather than a main summer holiday. Overall we have enjoyed our break and exploring the surrounding areas, in particular Warwick Castle which is only a 15 min drive away. Unfortunately the water taxi was not operating during our stay.
Thank you for your feedback. We do appreciate your comments and will carryout a full infantry of kitchenware and replace crockery and glasses. We will look into the layout of the property at the end of season. We do have comfortable outdoor seating for relaxing. We hope you enjoyed your stay and thank you for your feedback, Kind regards Property Owner

"The Internet was not working for the first two days and was only partially working for the remainder."
It significantly restricted our intended use and was a major frustration to us. The fridge was not up to standard with iced up freezer compartment. Very limited crockery.
Thank you for your feedback. we have addressed the freezer compartment and thank you for bringing to our attention. We are carrying out a full infantry for kitchenware. We do hope you enjoyed your stay and appreciate your comments. Kind regards. Property Owner
-
"It was a very enjoyable stay."
As we had a hot week a garden umbrella plus base would have been beneficial. At times the wi-fi internet was poor
-
"As the weather wasn't great, it was a bonus that we could really enjoy being in the cottage as it was so comfortable and also near restaurants and takeaways."
Beds were comfy too. Slept really well.
-
"Such a lovely property, our host was so helpful and made a number of recommendations for us."
The rooms are very comfortable, and very quite. Our children loved it, Stratford-Upon-Avon is a short drive, the property was always lovely and warm. We had the best fish and chips in Fizz and Fin !
-
"This property is ideally situated for all local amenities."
The restaurant on the holiday park next to the cottage (which did not bother us in the slightest) was delightful and very aware of all COVID restrictions. The property was warm and cozy and the beds were very comfortable. The owners were very helpful and obliging. The cottage was fully equipped although maybe a baking tray wouldn’t have gone amiss. The front garden was surprisingly peaceful and private. The only niggle I would have (and it is a minor one) is that a few pegs in the lounge for hanging coats up would have been useful.
-
"A beautiful cottage in a great location for exploring the area."
After a day out it was really nice to come back to the comfy beds and quiet surroundings. I would recommend Meg’s Cottage 100%.
-
"There was one minor problem which Andrea was quick to resolve."
One small irritation that might seem petty, we were supplied with bath towels and not bath sheets which are not ideal for taller or larger people.
-
"What a lovely place to stay."
The cottage is beautiful and the little extras, tea, coffee, pastries etc made it so much nicer. Close to the town centre. The is a folder with lots of up to date tourist info which we found very helpful. Thanks Kurt and Andrea we would definitely stay again.
-
"This is our second time stay at Megs cottage so knew what to expect."
Well laid out cottage with a homely feel and is the perfect size for us as a family with two boys. The river taxi is a short walk to town and is centrally locates for anything else you want to do. Will stay again. Thanks
-
"Such a fantastic week at megs cottage, it really is a gem, the owners were really friendly and helpful and really had thought of everything, the property was really clean and the beds were really comfy, my 2 boys loved fishing on and swimming in the river Avon, I highly recommend the water taxi into Stratford-Upon-Avon."
Tiddington village had a lovely pub, Chinese and Indian and a well stocked shop, we really did have a fantastic time and plan to go back soon.
-
"A nice cottage, very well placed for visiting the Stratford Upon Avon area."
Clean and comfortable. The owners are very helpful and happy to deal with any request for assistance. Would be happy to visit again.
-
"Megs Cottage was everything we hoped it would be and so much more, it was a beautiful place, in a fantastic location, with everything we could possibly need."
The starter pack was great and lasted us most of the week. Kurt was really helpful and recommmended some local places which were wonderful. We got the water taxi several times and really enjoyed that. We absolutely loved it. Would not hesitate to recommend and would love to visit again.
-
"Warm welcome from owner who provided a nice touch by leaving us some milk, bread, spread biscuits etc."
, as well as foil, tea coffee sugar salt, pepper etc.. In fact all the basic necessities when self catering. Megs cottage is ideally located about 1.5 miles of easy walking from Stratford or indeed one can take to river taxi. There is a modern restaurant and bar on the site and a local grocery shop just a short walk away. Thank you.
-
"What a gem!"
A wonderful barn situated in the most opportune location. Lovely finishing touches on arrival with croissants and Easter eggs! The decor was stylish with some great art work. Excellent location and we explored Stratford, Cadbury World and Warwick Castle as well as shopping in Solihull. The village of Tiddington has everything you could need and the Riverside bar and restaurant on site was a bonus.
-
"My kids (4 & 2), my husband and I had a wonderful 4 night holiday here."
The cottage was lovely; clean, comfortable, warm and full of character. Brilliant location, and the kids loved the boat taxi into Stratford which you could get in the neighbouring caravan and camping park. We all wanted to stay much longer and hope to be back soon! Many thanks from us all x
-
"On arrival we found a Welcome Pack which far exceeded those we had experienced at other houses we have rented."
Thank You! The house had the feeling that it had been well thought out and was very comfortably furnished. The property was very secluded yet only a 10 minute drive into the centre of Stratford upon Avon. An excellent holiday.
-
"Proximity to stratford and other attractions cleanliness comfort"
-
"We had a lovely stay at Meg’s Cottage, it was as quaint and charming as it looked in the pictures."
The owners were very friendly and flexible with our arrival time, and we appreciated the croissants, jam and milk they provided for breakfast. The cottage had basic ingredients to cook with such as oil, margarine and salt & pepper (it’s the little things that help when self-catering!) We enjoyed its convenient position for quickly and easily getting to Stratford-Upon-Avon and other local attractions, literally just a 5 minute drive down the road. Although it was very quiet, at times we were conscious of visitors to the neighbouring cottage due to the shared parking area at the front of the cottage. Overall we really enjoyed our long weekend at Meg’s Cottage, and would definitely recommend it to others.
