After savouring your morning coffee out back on the garden furniture, lace up your boots and head out to explore what your local area has to offer.

In Deddington, you can stock up on homely supplies at the Co-op, buy some fresh, local produce at Eagles butchers and delicatessen, before settling down for a hearty pub lunch at The Unicorn Inn.

There is also a monthly farmers market that takes place in town on the fourth Saturday of each month, one of the largest of its kind in the country!

Drive north to Warwick, where you can roam the historic grounds of Warwick Castle, before you head back south to enjoy an afternoon strolling around Stratford-upon-Avon, a medieval market town and former home to William Shakespeare, and the current tourist hotspots of the Stratford Butterfly Farm and The MAD Museum.

The National Trust spot of Stowe is also accessible by car, home to pristine gardens and an abundance of scenic walking trails.

Spend the day at Soho Farmhouse, which has everything you need to experience the ultimate countryside retreat including spa facilities and fantastic food; be sure to also pay a visit to the magnificent Blenheim Palace, with its impressive architecture, palace state rooms and various exhibitions to enjoy throughout the year.

If you're looking for more, head south to the city of Oxford, where you can spend time at the historic spot of Oxford Castle & Prison, roam the lush landscapes of South Park and the CS Lewis Nature Reserve, or brush up on local history at the Story Museum or the Oxford University Museum of Natural History.

All of this and more awaits when you book a stay at Manaton.

About the location

DEDDINGTON

Banbury 6.1 miles; Bicester 11.3 miles; Oxford 18.9 miles.

Resting between Banbury to the north and Bicester to the south, the quaint town of Deddington in Oxfordshire lies just east of the magnificent Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Historically a market town, with monthly markets still held in the centre of the settlement, Deddington is best known as being one of three locations, along with Hempton and Clifton, that reside on the ridge the Jurassic ferruginous marlstone hills between the River Cherwell, River Swere, and the Sowbrook. Visitors to the town can stock up on supplies at the Co-operative Food, whilst dining options in Deddington are aplenty, with the Restaurant at Deddington Arms Hotel, The Red Lion, The Crown & Tuns, and The Unicorn Inn all serving traditional pub fare, while the Bengal Spice Restaurant and the Foodies Coffee Shop, Deli & Eatery round off the main eateries that reside in the town. A short drive from the Deddington centre will bring you to several noteworthy landmarks and locations, such as Adderbury Lakes for hiking, the historic Broughton Castle, the serene greens of Tusmore and Glympton Park, as well as the Fairytale Farm that offers a fun day out for all the family. Whilst staying in the region, a brief drive west into the Cotswolds should be on the cards, with the outstanding nature reserve containing must-see locations such as Lypiatt Park, the Cerney House Gardens, and the National Trust landmark of Chedworth Roman Villa.
