  • "We had a lovely long family weekend at the cottage."

My granddaughter was thrilled to see a muntjac deer early one morning in what she called the fairy garden. Thank you so much for coming to our rescue when I locked us out.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback. We are so pleased to hear that you had a great stay. Best wishes, Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Had a great stay at The Old Bakery for New Year - we were a group of 7 adults, 2 toddlers and 2 babies."

Great village with a handy store less than 1 minutes walk away and local pubs too Spotlessly clean and everything we needed Kitchen is very well equipped Only things I would have changed - A bath mat would have been useful as the bath is very slippery for little ones An earlier check in would have been great - I understand re the cleaning, but, arriving in the dark at 5pm with 4 little ones wasn’t easy as it was a bit tricky to find the key box - I know there is a photo of its location in the information pack, but maybe sending the photo with the email when you send the key code would be helpful. We would definitely stay here again and would certainly recommend it.

  • "A fantastic base for the family before our son’s wedding!"

The house had so much space with its two separate sitting rooms and the large kitchen and dining area and was very comfortable. Everything was very clean with lovely towels and linen provided. It was a cold, frosty weekend but it was super warm in the house. Thank you for a brilliant place to stay and to remember a great weekend.

Thank you for your wonderful feedback. We are delighted that the house suited you so well in advance of your celebrations. Congratulations to your son and his partner! Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "We had a great stay in The Old Bakery."

The house was clean and comfortable. Given that the house sleeps 10 people we felt the kitchen would have benefited from having a few extra items - a teapot, water jug, serving dishes and enough table mats/coasters for the number of guests (we could only find 6). The main bedroom could do with a set of drawers for clothes and some more coat storage would also be helpful (the coat stand in the kitchen diner was broken). Hook Norton is a lovely village. We enjoyed trips to the Sun Inn and the brewery. The cafe in the brewery does a great breakfast!

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback. We're delighted that you enjoyed your stay at The Old Bakery and found it to be clean and comfortable. Thank you also for highlighting some issues which we have passed on to the Property Manager. We hope to welcome you again. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Very comfortable and well equipped, our party enjoyed it very much."

Excellent childrens playground nearby which was enjoyed by teh kids. 1. The instructions said to bring tea towels and oven mits, which seemed a bit bizzare, which I did, but wasn't necessary as they were provided. 2. We managed to lock ourselves out by locking the kitchen door on the inside, leaving by the front door, but taking the kitchen door key. Obviously our fault, but it could have been avoided if each key set covered both doors ! Fortunately the emergency service worked well even on a Sunday evening and we were back inside in a little over an hour.

Thank you for your feedback and we're delighted that you and your party enjoyed your stay. Thank you also for bringing to our attention to the key sets which we have noted. We're glad it was all sorted quickly for you and hope this didn't impact on your stay. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

The property

Nestled in the picturesque village of Hook Norton, Oxfordshire, is this superb, five-bedroom, traditional Cotswold’s property, The Old Bakery.

Formerly the village bakery approximately 18 years ago, the home still retains much of its original character, with exposed beams and floorboards, and even an old bakery oven, as well as a prime location within easy reach of the stunning Cotswolds AONB, The Old Bakery is a fantastic choice for a group or family of 10.

Step into the contemporary kitchen/diner, featuring a beautiful central island, a handy dishwasher and a washing machine, where you can look forward to conjuring up delicious feasts for your loved ones, ready to enjoy over celebratory bottles of fizz in the dining room.

After dinner, why not catch the last of the day’s rays with your favourite tipple out in the garden?

As the evening grows dark, retire to the sitting room where you can snuggle up in front of your favourite show on the TV, or if you fancy watching something else, a delightful snug area awaits with its own TV and plush sofas.

Completing the ground floor is a cloakroom for your convenience.

Climb the stairs up to the first floor, where you can wash away the day with a soak in the bath or freshen up under the overhead shower in the well-appointed bathroom.

There is also an additional cloakroom, so no need to worry about those morning queues!

When sleep calls, retire to one of five stylish bedrooms, the first being a king-size with its own en-suite shower room, perfect for those who prefer a little more privacy.

Additionally you will find two further king size bed rooms, a standard double and a twin bedded room, along with a double with a luxurious freestanding bath, two additional doubles and a twin.

You will also find a superbly appointed family bathroom (with shower over the bath) Explore the local village, where you can treat your loved ones to a well-deserved meal at The Sun Inn and Pear Tree Inn, whilst local ales can be sampled at the welcoming Hook Norton Brewery.

The village offers two well-stocked convenience stores, as well as a butchers, Post Office and pizza takeaway.

Keen walkers will delight at the fantastic walks on offer right from your doorstep, with the 65-mile D'Arcy Dalton Way passing through the village and leading towards Wormleighton.

Continue onto Chipping Norton, where you will find a good selection of pubs and restaurants, including Bitter & Twisted, The Blue Boar and the Thai Shire, whilst if you want to stock up on fresh produce, you can visit the renowned Diddly Squat Farm Shop, well-known for its appearance on the hit series, Clarkson’s Farm.

Venture further into the Cotswolds AONB, where you can hike along the famous Cotswolds Way which ends at Bath Abbey, tour the National Trust sites of Chastleton House, Lodge Park and Chedworth Roman Villa or enjoy leisurely strolls around the attractions of Batsford Arboretum and Garden Centre and Sezincote House & Garden.

Be sure to visit Stratford-upon-Avon, where you can visit the former home, birthplace, school and retirement home of the great playwright, William Shakespeare, along with the attractions of The MAD Museum, Stratford Butterfly Farm, Tudor World, the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and river cruises along the River Avon.

An adventure to the Cotswolds doesn’t get better than with a stay at The Old Bakery.
