  • "Enjoyed our stay in this lovely comfortable cottage it’s in a quiet village and a good base for visiting other places nearby."

The orange juice, milk and biscuits were a lovely touch. The kitchen is well equipped if you want to cook, we only prepared Breakfast here as we ate out on our day trips to other places. There is a nice big well maintained garden with plenty of seating areas, our three Grandchildren loved playing out in garden. The problem for us was the very thin blind in the main bedroom which kept no light out at all, Your asked to strip beds (5) fully before you leave we have never been asked to do this in other properties. We felt rushed as the cleaning lady arrived before 10am Over all we had a great stay here and would recommend it.

Thank you for providing us with feedback on your stay. We are glad to hear that you overall enjoyed your stay, and we appreciate your comments regarding the main bedroom blind. Our guests are asked to strip the beds to assist our housekeepers during changeovers. We hope that you will stay with us again one day in the future. Best wishes, Manor Cottages. Property Owner

  • "Wonderful cottage for a family to enjoy, and only a short drive or bus journey to Banbury/Banbury train station."

Warwick Castle, Blenhiem Palace & Cotswold lavender fields are all close by and great day trips to enjoy. If you want to just relax and put your feet up, the cottage, its garden, BBQ and Lower Brailes is the perfect place to do just that. Only thing you need to do is bring stock for the kitchen, nearest local shop is 5 miles away in Shipton on Stour.

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback. We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay at Lavender Cottage and we hope that we will be able to welcome you again one day in the future. Best wishes, Manor Cottages. Property Owner

  • "A nice cottage with a real emphasis on safety."

The garden is excellent but obviously not for this time of year. This was not very good for a Christmas break as cooking for 6 was a challenge with the limited baking trays, etc. available, and very limited opening times of village pub and shops. We much appreciated the festive decorations and welcoming touches. Thank you.

Many thanks for the feedback. The owners have updated the items in the kitchen so there is enough for guests to cook. We're pleased you enjoyed the festive touches. Best wishes, Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "We had a wonderful half-term holiday at Lavender Cottage."

The house is charming and worked well for a family of 4 - with 2 twin bedrooms and 1 king bedroom, and a reasonable-sized lounge, kitchen and dining room. The garden is also lovely - with loads of space for a run around. There are various children’s games both in the house and in the garden. The location is great, with loads to do in the local area, including a lovely pub (The George) within a 5 minute walk, a kids‘ playground 10 minutes’ walk away, and several attractions within 30 minutes’ drive. Highly recommended.

Thank you for your very kind feedback, it's great to hear you and your family enjoyed the cottage. I hope you managed to take the children to some of the many wonderful places in the Cotswolds, such as the Wild Life Park and Adams Farm. We would love to have you back again in the future. The house gives what we need, including a fully equipped kitchen. The garden is nice, quiet and enjoyable at every time of the day. Starting breakfast in the early morning sun all the way to an after diner cup of coffee in the shade of the large trees. The property is also a greet starting point for visits to some of the National Trust parks in the surroundings, or a good walk in the Cotswolds.

Thank you for this lovely review. We're so glad you had such a wonderful time and also enjoyed the garden so much. We hope to welcome you again. Property Owner

  • "We had a lovely holiday."

Cottage had everything we needed. We arrived on a Sunday at the check in time of 6 and there was no shops open in the village and the pubs kitchen was shut. Short drive though to find somewhere open. The main bedroom only has a light blind covering one window which did nothing to block the light, there was only 3 of us so we slept in the 2 twin rooms instead which had curtains. It’s a very busy road at the front with cars racing through from about 5am. The church bells seem to chime all night too which I was surprised at, was woken up a few times by them. The beds were very comfortable. The gardens are large and beautiful. The property itself was perfect but the location for us wasn’t 100%.

Thank you for providing us with feedback on your stay at Lavender Cottage. We are glad to hear that you had a lovely holiday overall and hope that the issues you encountered during your stay did not leave a lasting impact! Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our stay, very good location and comfortable."

Floors were a bit dirty, which we noticed due to a 7 month old sitting on the living room floor and our socks getting dirty when walking around. Very comfortable bed and thoughtful having the night lights in the hall. The outside garden looked lovely but wrong season for us to enjoy it. Great location for Stratford, Oxford, Warwick etc. We would stay again.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Lavender Cottage. We take all feedback very seriously and I can only apologise if the clean was not up to our usual high standard. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

The George pub was just a few minutes walk away although completely empty due to virus and people staying away. There is a delightful charm to this cottage with its uneven floors and walls but that is not a bad thing. I would be happy to go back again.

There is nothing alarming but I would check on bathrooms in a year or so. These facilities take the most of the beating as time passes. I personally would place a few historical photographs of Brailes around the house. There is a book in one of the bedrooms that contains a historical records of the town and has plenty of photos. You can find Lavender Cottage there as well. Overall it was fantastic stay and I recommended it on Bookings. Thanks

  • "The listing did not inform us that the cottage had low ceilings and very hard to spot that from the photos."

Since two of our party are over 6 foot this was a problem including one having a very bad knock to the head. The twin bedrooms were not large as the instructions say nor was the lounge and for 6 people there were only 5 seats. Nor did the instructions inform us that the second toilet was also upstairs as well as the bathroom. Only small people would be able to stand under the shower due to the ceiling height. Partially used pieces of soap are left for you in the bathroom which isn’t very pleasant. There were too many ornaments and nicknacks around the house leaving you very little space for your own belongings. Some of the knobs on chests do drawers and wardrobes were falling off. We were only left 3 washing up tablets for the dishwasher for a week in a cottage for 6. Parking appeared to be a problem to the next door neighbours even though we kept one car on the drive and the other on the road not overlapping our property at all. Next door completely blocked us in on more than one occasion even though they had space in front of their own property. Various parts of the property were definitely not clean. All in all disappointing and over priced.

Thank you for your review of Lavender Cottage. We appreciate comments in order that standards can be maintained and improved . We take concerns very seriously. We have noted concerns regarding low ceilings in some areas of the cottage and have therefore brought that to the attention of guests by mentioning this on the website. We believe that the description of the cottage is accurate. All rooms are described as a good size and not described as large. There is seating for 6 in the lounge- a three seater sofa, a two seater sofa and an armchair. here is no downstairs WC and the cottage description does not suggest that there is. In reference to the supply of dishwasher tablets , as a holiday cottage guests are provided with starter packs for all essentials upon their arrival, and not for their entire stay. During the eleven years that the cottage has been used as a holiday let this has never been a problem. There is parking space on the gravel drive through the archway, in front of the gate and in front of the cottage. Once again thank you for getting in touch, we take all feedback seriously and where applicable have actioned changed based upon your feedback. Property Owner

  • "A very cosy cottage with good facilities."

The unexpectedly large garden would also have been well used if such a chilly easterly wind had not been blowing. A second small refrigerator would have been more useful than having a separate freezer in a holiday cottage. The allowance of 6 logs for a three night stay was really rather mean, and there was no opportunity to buy any more. They lasted one evening in the open fire. A small wood burning stove would be more economical if the owners find it hard to obtain or pay for enough logs for the open fire.

Thank you very much for your feedback, the owner will look into how best to equip the kitchen for guest use and takes on board your feedback regarding additional refrigerator space. Regarding the logs, it is industry standard to provide a starter pack of logs and kindling for your first night. Additional logs are always then to be purchased from the local stores which readily have them available. Apologies, that this was not made clear upon arrival and we hope to book your next stay soon.
