  • "A very nice house and garden, well looked after, clean and well provisioned, (with a welcome cake, bottles of wine and milk)."

Only issue was that WiFi wouldn't work and mobile reception is poor in the village. Otherwise an excellent choice.

Thank you for your feedback, it's wonderful to hear you enjoyed your stay and the lovely welcome cake. Did you get in contact with the Owner to sort the Wifi, as she is only very local and would have been happy to come around to assist if you had any issues getting it to work. We hope to welcome you again for another stay in the future. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

The location is super quiet in a pretty and friendly village with a nice pub just 100yards away. The garden is large and lovely and we were able to breakfast outside each morning. Plenty of parking too. Nothing g not to like.

  • "The cottage is lovely with lot of space for our group."

The gardens were fantastic for the dogs.it is in a lovely village location with the pub just 100 yards away. Everything was provided but sadly the was no Internet and so we had no TV as the cottage has Sky TV (which is a rare provision). Also the boys could not play on their games and even worse you could not get a phone signal in the cottage. The owner said it was the fault of BT which was beyond their control. Had this worked it would be very good as the owners even had a Mesh system installed to improve quality. This had a major impact on everybody. The bed in our room was collapsed in the middle so it was very uncomfortable. There were two BBQs provided and the owner even left a lovely big cake on arrival, a coffee machine and everything you could want or need. The microwave did not work and the owner immediately delivered a brand new one. Overall a superb cottage, well equipped and located. Everybody enjoyed themselves.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are sorry to hear of your issues with the WiFi. It is a shame that BT had not been able to resolve during your stay. We are glad that the owner was able to help with the microwave and you enjoyed the cake and all that was provided for you at the cottage. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

The children and dogs enjoyed playing in the garden when we returned from days out and we were able to eat breakfast outside in the sun every morning. We were also all able to fit around the dining table indoors for a couple of evening meals. The location of the property was ideal for visiting many different locations. There is plenty of parking space at the property and a small shop and pub within walking distance. I really cannot find fault at all -ten out of ten!

The house is very comfortable, well furnished, and the kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The setting on the edge of the village make it really private and tranquil. The attention to detail inside was obvious, and the garden was an absolute haven (immaculately maintained) after a hard days "holidaying"!!! Can't think of anything that needs changed/improved. Thank you from Margaret, Ann, Judy, and Kirsty.

  • "Elmhurst was the perfect property for a large fanily Christmas together."

The cottage was decorated beautifully and a festive welcome pack was also provided (the cake will be talked about for many years to come!!). The cottage is homely and cosy, but also large enough for people to spread out and have their own space. The kitchen was so well equipped and the ovens were perfect for cooking a large Christmas dinner. The extra freezer and drinks coolers were a nice touch and were used daily. Beds were comfy and the bedrooms very spacious and clean. The enclosed garden was perfect for our 2 small dogs, and the gate between the kitchen and dining room ensured that they didn’t go into the other rooms with their wet paws. A really wonderful week for us all. We couldn’t recommend this cottage enough and we all feel that the online photographs don’t do the cottage justice as they don’t show the extent of the room layout downstairs. Thankyou Amanda and family

The kitchen is extremely well equipped and well stocked, we cooked at home for nine with no issues at all. Overall a very comfortable cottage - beware the beams! Hadn’t thought that one through for my 6’4” guest!! My only suggestion would be to move the single bed into the study. The garden is spacious with lots of places to sit. We walked every day, mostly straight from the cottage. Some lovely circular walks with cracking pub lunches to Mickleton and Ilmington (special mention for the Sunday roast at the Red Post here). We would highly recommend this cottage.

Lovely garden. Great kitchen and oven - we cooked a lot when we were there. The flowers, brownies and prosecco etc on arrival were a lovely welcome. Only really small things to mention - in the kitchen extra useful items could be included eg small glasses not just large ones! A sieve, chopping boards would also be useful - just a few gaps that a quick trip to ilea could sort out .A few more store cupboard ingredients such as oil could be useful as well. And the light above the range cooker needs fixing, and the bottom of the dishwasher . Small things but when you’re catering for 9 people they become a bit more significant !

The cottage was lovely and the cake and treats provided were delicious. The fresh gladioli were beautiful. The only things that need attention are the white goods. The dishwasher racks are broken ( tied together with cord) and the fridge door racks have disappeared so we lost a lot of storage room. It would also be sensible to advise people to bring their own oven gloves. However the cottage was the perfect base for exploring the Cotswolds

On arrival there were treats beyond expecation in the form of a box of chocolates, prosecco and a lovely home made cake! In terms of the property itself, it was very clean, comfortable and more than big enough for 2 families with 3 children between them to have fun. The garden was fantastic for little ones to run around in. If we generally visited the same places again we would consider coming back to the cottage, it's location close to Stratford upon Avon was good and to get to some major towns and sights within The Costwolds was around a half hour drive at a minimum. We didn't venture that far south, which may be a consideration if choosing to visit The Cotswolds, but that is no complaint of the property which was presented beautifully and very comfortable. One note, the church bells continue to ring overnight in the village, not much the proprietor can do about this of course, just something to factor in if you are a light sleeper.

Thank you so much for the lovely feedback on your stay at Elmhurst Cottage. We are happy that you found the property and its amenities pleasing and spacious enough for your party. Plenty of off street parking and the local pub is just round the corner. The garden is large with lots of seating and very well maintained. • "The host and house were very welcoming."

It was ideal for our family and we had a enjoyable stay. The stay was a little spoiled as the dishwasher could not be operated for the whole weekend. There were two wheels missing off one side of the lower tray, which when loaded dropped onto the revolving sprayer. Sandra did call around that same day but her keys did not open any of the doors and she left us a note. The WiFi connection was poor and would be improved if the router was relocated more centrally; say in in the dining room. There is a file full of the instruction booklets for every piece of kit in the house but the file lacks a typed A4 sheet giving a few guidelines. The shower in the shared bathroom needs the switches in the cupboard to be on. When you go for a shower there the initial impression is that there is no hot water. Wearing only a towel is not the time to go exploring. Perhaps a plasticated note in the bathrooms could solve this. In other places we have stayed there is usually a notice asking for the beds to be stripped at the end of the stay. The fans in the bathrooms do not work when the light is switched on.. If there are switches for them they are not visible. It is not possible to lock the shared bathroom door which is not very convenient. Notwithstanding this we had a great weekend. There were a lot of condiments which we did not expect and the Prosecco, fudge and cakes were both delicious and well received. Oh the guidelines could also add that the College Arms accepts dogs. Thank Sandra for us. I am sure she did her best. The guideline sheet and a few plasticated notes are easy to arrange. We hope she found that we had left the place clean and tidy.

  • "We had a most wonderful stay there."

The extensive garden scored 20 out of 10! from my three young grandchildren. What a great bonus, with games of cricket (within the flower boundary of course), and football. The cottage itself scored on all fronts, from the quirky low beams (catching two of my family several times until they learned to duck down!), to the lovely kitchen, dining room, lounge, den, and the roomy bedrooms.

    Mr Read

The property

Elmhurst Cottage is a very attractive holiday cottage situated in a picture postcard village in the northern Cotswolds.

The cottage is utterly charming and filled with lovely period features including original beams, an inglenook fireplace and flagstone floors - all hardly surprising given that it dates back to the 1600's!

It's idyllic location over looking the beautiful village church of St Swithin's along with glorious views to open countryside make it ideal for a rural holiday, yet given there is a pub in the village along with some basic shops you've actually got plenty on your doorstep too.

The location is perfect for visiting many local Cotswold villages plus of course Shakespeare Country at Stratford upon Avon.

The owner has carefully maintained the property over the years and still is one of our most popular cottages and in our opinion for good reason.

The cottage is ideal for groups and families alike with good size bedrooms, a study with Xbox for the children and a large garden to the rear.

We love it here!

About the location

CHIPPING CAMPDEN

Moreton-in-Marsh 8 miles; Stratford-upon-Avon 12 miles

This market town defines the saying "good things come in small packages" as it proves itself to be a wonderful place for tourists to stay. Chipping Campden sits in the northern part of the Cotswolds and boasts many historical buildings from St. James' church where the Chipping Camden Music Festival is held every year, to the early 17th century market hall upon which the town prides itself. Not only does the town have a rich history but much more, the high street is laced with charming Cotswold stone buildings with a range of shops and pubs. Nearby there are several beautiful, formal gardens for you to wander through. Chipping Campden has held its own 'Olimpick Games' since the early 1600s including peculiar sports such as 'shin-kicking', most certainly worth lining your holiday up with to experience something so unique. For a dose of famous history, head to the birthplace of William Shakespeare in Stratford-upon-Avon just 12 short miles away, it offers some charming little buildings, bookshops, theatres and museums.
