kimmX3763EK “Cosy”
Just spent a week here and had a relaxing time. I booked so my mum and dad could have a break as they have not been out of their house since February. Because they are both high risk coronavirus. They both had an amazing time just sitting in garden hot tub, reading. We all took lots of jumpers but did not need too as it was so warm inside. Also has a wood burner which we never used. Would highly recommend if you are looking for isolation and peace and quite.

Mrs Monaghan “Took my mum and dad who have been self isolating since mar because of coronavirus.”
So to be honest we did not go out and about. The lodge itself was so warm and cosy inside, we sat outside and read our books, got in the hot tub and just chilled. Nice little walks with our dog. The kitchen although small was well equipped and I managed to cook a roast dinner in it. The only down side was the internal doors stuck on the floor so my dad did get jabbed in the side a few times. But that did not stop our enjoyment. Will definitely be coming again.
- Mrs Monaghan, September 2020Mrs Downs “The cottage was very clean, peaceful, comfortable and well equipped and the enclosed garden was perfect for our two dogs.”
All this in a beautiful area with so much to see and do. Hope to return in the future.
- Mrs Downs, September 2020Mr Dembitz “Cottage not as private as anticipated.”
Fridge small. No dishwasher Shower very weak
- Mr Dembitz, September 2020Mr Rendle “The Lodge is a great place to stay to explore the local area.”
We did several walks along the Thames which was great. We had one really wet day but we sat on the verandah in the comfy chairs and it was lovely. The hot tub was really nice especially at the end of a day walking.
- Mr Rendle, August 2020Mrs Taylor “We loved the lodge!”
it was so well done with extra touches like the real oak doors. Luckily for us the weather was super hot and sunny but I imagine in Winter the lodge would be very cosy with the wood burning stove and hot tub. We really enjoyed the hot tub especially when we had returned from a full days sightseeing in Oxford. There was a great walk by the river into the village of Bampton which we enjoyed walking around and having a cream tea at the cafe. The locals extremely friendly. We visited the nearby picturesque Cotswolds villages and our favorite meal out was at the Trout Pub at Tadpole Bridge stunning setting and lovely food with super friendly staff. Due to the fantastic weather I did miss having an outside table and chairs as the last guest commented but would highly recommend a stay here.
- Mrs Taylor, August 2020Mr Jones “Lovely place to stay, in a great location, a perfect base to explore the Cotswolds and 20 mins from Oxford.”
The accommodation has lots of space and is very comfortable for a family of four with a dog. We made good use of the garden and hot tub. There are lots of options for walks and bike rides from the lodge and local village of Bampton. A couple of suggestions to make the lodge even better, we had an amazing week of sunshine, a patio table and chairs would have been a great addition, we had to carry the table and chairs in and out each meal time. The property would also benefit from a larger fridge / freezer, as a family of four staying for a week we struggled to fit in all the food and have space for the all important cold drinks.
- Mr Jones, July 2020Mrs Edwards “No dvd player in the property which would have been nice in the evenings but overall a lovely place to stay”
- Mrs Edwards, February 2020Miss Alrimi “Mark and his family were Extremely friendly and warmly welcomed us.”
They were generous and helpful and provided assistance when needed. We felt like home during our wonderful stay because of the amazing hospitality we received from Mark as well as his lovely wife. They also have very behaved dogs who looks after the whole farm. So it was a pleasant cottage as well as safe. We really enjoyed our stay and I hope we stay in lodge again. Its been a pleasure to meet Mark and his family!
- Miss Alrimi, February 2020Mrs Bennett “Lovely relaxing break.”
The lodges facilities were great. Had everything we needed.
- Mrs Bennett, October 2019Miss Malley “The lodge is in a fantastic location, I would recommend this lovely lodge to anyone.”
- Miss Malley, September 2019Mr Baker “The cottage was super comfortable, quiet and clean.”
The yard was safe and tidy and perfect for our kids to play in. We really appreciate the energy efficiency and sustainability features, which also made the temperature comfortable all day and night.
- Mr Baker, September 2019Mrs Yeoman “The holiday was brilliant and would go back and stay in the place again”
- Mrs Yeoman, August 2019Mrs Crapper “Great accommodation.”
Very safe for dogs as garden completely enclosed. Warm cosy and spacious. Excellent location. Quiet and safe and planes no problem at all. Beds comfy and both rooms en-suite. Layout of lodge perfect for couples. Lots of car parking area. Take a couple of extra tea towels and you are all set.
- Mrs Crapper, December 2018Mrs Hill “This was are first holiday with are dog and it was just perfect and all 3 of us had a lovely time .”
The hot tub was very warm and we went in every day .
- Mrs Hill, November 2018Mr Dobbin “We enjoyed 5 nights at the lodge from the 29th October until the 03rd November 2018.”
It was our October half term in the Midlands and we wanted some time away as a family of 5 (2 adults, 2 kids and our pet dog). The lodge is excellent. The facilties and spec are first class and the hot tub on cool autumn evenings after days out is a treat and our daughters loved it. The fact towels, linen etc are provided is a really nice touch and saved us having to use our car roof box for luggage. The setting and luxury of the lodge is perfect for family time and a good base to explore the Cotswolds. When we arrived there was good detailed information cards waiting for us which was a nice touch and appreciated, we can't praise this accommodation enough, we definatly plan to return in the future, a great family break in beautiful accommodation and setting
- Mr Dobbin, October 2018Miss Cooke “Just had a week at the Lodge and absolutely loved it.”
We were over for a family wedding and to visit family who live around swindon and Oxford. We were slightly apprehensive about staying at the same location as cottage owners as we like our privacy but they respected that and only popped to say hello and goodbye and to ask if we had all we needed.Im confused why anyone would want to stay in a holiday cottage and see more of the owners ! (other comment on here) Facilities were excellent, the cottage is of premium high spec, the hot tub amazing and immaculate! My only request is for dog walk guideance as it was hard to find the footpath and work out where you can/can’t walk.We are horse owners and understand how people don’t like strangers around their equines and equipment so we felt very cautious where we could/couldn’t walk.I eventually spoke to a horse owner on the livery yard who asked if I knew where to walk, she was lovely and pointed all the non road footpaths and walls out,we enjoyed our morning and evening walks next to the small river and appreciated not having to walk down the main road. We had some lovely days out to Whitney and Oxford (all easily accessible including a bus ride away from Bampton ) we ate out at some lovely pubs, the trout and then a more premium meal at the windmill ! All were amazing ! I want to thank the owners of the lodge for letting their lovely holiday home and making it dog friendly as it’s so hard to find a top quality place to stay that excepts dogs ! We hope to come back soon ! Gary,Natalie and Nova the German shepherd !
- Miss Cooke, October 2018Miss Johnson “We had a wonderful stay in the lodge at Bampton.”
A very spacious pretty place to stay for our weeks holiday with our two girls. It was very clean and had everything we needed. They supplied with plenty of towels and some for the use of the hot tub. The owners were very friendly and helpful. There are lots of places to visit not far from the lodge. we recommend the Crocodile place. we had an amazing time there also the Cotswold animal park. Beautiful villages to go and walk round. All in all we really enjoyed our stay and would definitely recommend to others.
- Miss Johnson, September 2018Mr Souch “I would like to comment about the lighting in the "Jack and Jill" bathroom.”
It was difficult to shave as the only light was behind you. The underfloor heating was too efficient. These remarks may seem petty but I could not find anything else that we did not like, in fact we loved the Lodge and will definitely be back next year. Our thanks to the owner and his wife for their hospitality.
- Mr Souch, September 2018Mrs Wortley “If you like planes you will like this lodge as they flew by every ten minutes or so, mostly in the afternoons!”
Great at the start but not continuously. Also large dog poo left on grass on arrival. Other than that it was a great place to stay.
- Mrs Wortley, August 2018Mr Baldwin “Wonderful property, very well appointed and very peaceful setting.”
Great base for visiting Cotswolds. Hot tub a real added icing on the cake!
- Mr Baldwin, June 2018Mr Kedge “A very warm, brilliantly insulated and draught free cosy chalet in a quiet spot.”
Wonderful to come back to after walking in the snow and chilly winds of the mini-beast from the east on the Thames Path National Trail ! The log-burner is tremendously efficient but was hardly needed with the excellent underfloor heating. Just a couple of comments- the lighting in both the kitchen and main room was inadequate for the dark winter evenings. There is no longer a DVD players or CDs- not that we needed them ourselves. All in all- 99/100 -highly recommended.
- Mr Kedge, March 2018Mrs Belcher “This lodge was in a very quiet place with it's own private garden.”
It was really clean with lovely bedding and enough towels for the hot tub as well. Easy to get to lots of interesting places of interest and of course beautiful Oxford itself. We'd love to go again, but hopefully without snow next time!
- Mrs Belcher, March 2018Mr Hall “First the negatives no potato masher lol now the positives ...”

- Mr Hall, February 2018Mr Charman “We loved our stay .”
The rooms were comfy and clean Would of liked a bit more interaction with the owners . We have booked with Sykes a few times now and normally we meet the owners and they are really welcoming but this particular break we had at the lodge was on a farm and we were on site so would of been great to of met them . We did leave an item of children’s dress up clothing but can’t get hold of the owners to see if we left it there . Would of been great to of had it returned to us .
- Mr Charman, January 2018Miss New “Fantastic took my elderly parents and autistic son perfect location , fabulous ...”

- Mrs Deacon, November 2017Mr Polfrey “Very Pleased, description and photos where accurate, Hot tub was great ...”

About the location
BAMPTON
Witney 4 miles; Burford 8 miles and Oxford 19 miles.
The thriving village of Bampton lies in the Thames Valley in the southern Cotswolds, amidst beautiful Oxfordshire countryside. Bampton is one of the oldest villages in England boasting a village shop, Post Office, butcher, and traditional pubs serving good food and real ales, all set around a pretty market square. Ancient customs can still be experienced with the regular morris dancing festivities, which have been enjoyed for over 600 years. Just four miles away is the riverside town of Witney, which offers many attractions including a weekly market dating back to the Middle Ages, an 18th century town hall, and Wychwood Brewery. Burford is possibly one of the most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, Burford is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. With little changing over the centuries. Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for it's shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and teashops. Oxford, the oldest university city in England, boasts interesting Botanical Gardens, museums and libraries, and plays host to many festivals and markets throughout the year. Enjoy a punt on the River Thames or take a boat trip on the River Cherwell. The ancestral home of Winston Churchill and the World Heritage Site of Blenheim Palace is just a short drive away, where many lovely walks can be enjoyed around the landscaped parkland. With so much nearby, Bampton provides a wonderful holiday destination.
