  • "Lovely cottage."

Perfectly placed for visiting the Cotswolds. It has everything you need and we certainly felt at home. Pretty Burford is a matter of minutes away. We also visited Blenheim Palace for their Christmas market and Sleeping Beauty display. Beautiful but expensive. I loved it though. We visited the Wychwood pub which was nice. The Lamb, also nearby, is the quintessential Cotswold pub tho we did have a rather unpleasant interaction by email with the pub owner who was extremely rude and offensive. This apart we thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Appin cottage and would definitely return though we will probably avoid The Lamb!

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Appin Cottage. We are very happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us and that you had time to visit the Christmas Market at Blenheim. It's lovely to hear you enjoyed some of the local pubs, the Wychwood is one of our favourites. We hope to welcome you again in the future. Kind regards Manor Cottages. Property Owner

  • "Appin Cottage has the beautiful Cotswolds Aesthetic and has plenty room for 2 and a dog, it is in a good location for the must see Cotswold hotspots."

Only the TVs are incredibly small and could do to be a bigger as they are absorbed by the rooms. Everything inside is well kept. Sadly on arrival the cottage hadn't been cleaned after the last guests had departed though it was quickly rectified it wasn't great arriving to previous guests used laundry etc. The views out of the cottage bedroom are lovely to wake up to and after the cleaning issue was rectified we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Thank you for your feedback. We do apologise that the property was not clean when you arrived. Thank you for giving us the opportunity to rectify this mistake after your arrival. We do always endeavour to put things right as soon as we can. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

Nearby pubs are well within walking distance and are dog friendly. Had decent food too! Remember to take a torch if walking out for the evening as walk back will be dark. We enjoyed our stay and wouldn't hesitate to use this cottage again!

  • "The cottage is fantastic and perfect for a short stay as we did."

For us the bed was too small a king size bed or super king would be the final touch to such a perfect cottage or at very least replacement mattress required, dips in middle and not a comfortable night. We would however be happy to return to your cottage again for a short stay x

  • "Such a sweet cottage in a perfect location."

Right in the middle of everywhere we wished to visit during our stay. It made it all the more special that we went in the festive period. Many beautiful places to see with lovely Christmas lights and decorations. The cottage was well equipped with everything we needed, we took our own towels as we were unsure but the host even provided these. Left us milk in the fridge for arrival and we really enjoyed the log fire. The cottage was perfect for us and a real quiet location, laying in bed looking over the endless fields - bliss. Lovely big bath for you to use after a long day of exploring then plenty of kitchen utensils and utilities to ensure you can cook a nice meal then cosy up by the fire. We had a great stay and felt there was nothing the host could improve on. We only wish we could’ve stayed longer! I would recommend this place and in fact have already suggested our friends stay here when they plan to visit the cotswolds in 2021. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Thank you for your lovely comments on Appin Cottage. It is amazing to hear there is nothing to improve. We would love to welcome you and your friends to Appin in the future. Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Arriving in the evening I took food for the week which was put in the fridge."

The next morning I found everything was frozen as the fridge setting was put on maximum, my food was ruined and the majority thrown out hence a waste of money. There appears to be a problem with the oven which makes a loud clanging noise when heating. The property was not properly cleaned and was disgusting under the sofa, I only moved it slightly to hoover around and saw dog chews, dust, rubbish......I took photos as proof!

Many thanks for your feedback. We have been in to Appin Cottage to check on the oven, upon inspection there was no loud clanging noise whilst it was heating up. Apologies if the fridge had been turned up high, housekeeping always check the property the day of guests arrival. We will speak to housekeeping regarding the cleanliness and endeavor to get it perfect for future guests. Manor Cottages Property Owner

Not only that, but those with a taste for all things swish can either pop to Daylesford Organic Farm which is about 10 mins away or alternatively you can gorge yourself at the multitude of top notch pubs in the vicinity, all convenient enough for a walk (long or short!) Inside, Appin is a cosy rural retreat with snug woodburning stove which will keep you toasty all year round and large bedroom upstairs that you can soak up the views without so much as lifting your head off the pillow!

The cottage is just spot on for a couple looking for a break and who fancy a little exploring - from this location you can do as little or as much as you wish.

About the location

BURFORD

Swinbrook 2.4 miles; Little Barrington 3.5 miles; Minster Lovell 5.6 miles.

Burford is possibly one of, if not the most famous of the Cotswolds' locations. With its medieval bridge, old stone houses and attractive Tudor and Georgian frontages, it is justifiably one of the most picturesque towns in England. Often referred to as the 'Gateway to the Cotswolds', the town was originally a fortified Anglo-Saxon ford which later grew to be an important regional crossroads and wealthy wool town. Located midway between Oxford and Cheltenham, it is a little haven of history and beauty that many come to fall in love with when they visit. The 16th century Tolsey building, once the meeting place for medieval merchants, now houses The Tolsey Museum, a delightful local museum illustrating the town's social and industrial past. The church is stunning, a real gem architecturally with many interesting memorials charting some of Burford's great families. There is also the signature, on the baptisimal font, of Antony Sedley, one of the Levellers besieged in the church in 1649 - three of the ringleaders were executed by Oliver Cromwell's men in the churchyard. History awaits! With little change over the centuries, Burford is now very popular with visitors, both for its beauty and history but also for its shopping and antiques, and for the wide variety of places to eat, with restaurants, pubs and tea shops. It is an ideal base for visiting The Cotswolds area as it is within easy driving distance of popular attractions such as Blenheim Palace, Sudeley Castle, Warwick Castle and several National Trust Houses and Gardens. Bourton on the Water, Bibury, Cirencester and Stow on the Wold are all within ten miles.
