  • "The cottage is in a lovely area but felt a little ‘tired’ inside with a lot of items looking like they were past their best or broken."

Plenty of room for our group of 6 adults and 1 infant and although there is a pool it too was not at its best with a nest of ants under some of the toys at one end. It’s a shame as, with a bit of attention and some funds spent, it has the potential to be a great holiday destination.

Thank you for your feedback. We are glad you liked the cottage and the lovely area. We are sorry if you felt things looked tired as we try our best to keep things looking good for our guests. Property Owner

We had very hot weather so greatly appreciated the garden with its furniture and being able to use the pool fairly extensively. The village is delightful with nice walks, pubs and a shop.

Thank you for this lovely feedback. We're delighted you enjoyed your stay and appreciated the garden and pool during the hot weather. We would love to welcome you again. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

  • "Excellent cottage."

Could benefit from free standing toilet roll holders in each bathroom and a full handrail all way down steps to pool. These are only minor things and did not spoil our stay. Pool is fantastic. Local facilities very good. Owners very helpful and friendly.

Thank you for your feedback and we're glad you loved the cottage (and the pool). We will pass your suggestions to the owners and would love to welcome you again. Best wishes Manor Cottages Property Owner

Joanne, the owner, and her husband were a delight, welcoming us with fresh eggs and extra logs for the log burner. The pool was a wonderful bonus that was used continually in the late summer sun we had in October! I think we may have to return

Thank you for your feedback. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Stonewheel Cottage and look forward to welcoming you back again some time. Property Owner

  • "We really enjoyed our few days at the cottage."

Our granddaughters loved the swimming pool. There are renovations ongoing which should make access to the pool better. There was an issue with a broken floorboard but this was speedily attended to once the owner was aware of it. My only issue really was the late check in (6pm). Most places allow a 3pm check in and I wonder if that could be managed here? Generally a lovely place to have a holiday.

Thank you for providing feedback for your stay at Stone Wheel Cottage. It's great to hear you enjoyed your stay at the cottage and that your Granddaughters loved the pool. I will pass on your comments to the owner with regards to the check-in times for review. We hope to welcome you back again in the future. Property Owner

  • "We loved our stay at Stone Wheel Cottage."

The owners are absolutely lovely & were around quite a bit for us to approach with any questions as they live next door. The cottage is spacious clean & really well looked after. The pool was the highlight and the children played in it for hours! The area is wonderful & has lots of good pubs & shops. We’d definitely come again in the future. The service & level of care was incredible and we felt really well looked after.

Thank you for the fabulous feedback and it's lovely to hear how much the children enjoyed the swimming pool!. The cottage is a really good base to explore and we hope you managed to visit the Wild Life Park. We would love to welcome you back again in the future too. Property Owner

  • "Very spacious property which needs some love and attention."

I would describe the property as "tired". Things for improvement - broken glass panes in conservatory and large unsightly stain on lino need replacing, threadbare cushion covers and ancient bar of soap and worn out scourer in kitchen need discarding. Open packet of biscuits left in cupboard. Scribble on wall in hallway and peeling paint and cobwebs on window frames. Although we made good use of the pool the surround needs a good clean up as moss/mud ends up in the pool. The owners were very nice but a little money spent on redecoration and a deep clean could make this property 5 * as opposed to the 3* it merits at present.

Thank you for your feedback with regards to your stay at Stonewheel. I'm sorry if you feel the cottage was not up to our usual high standards, i will pass on all your comments to the owner for review. I hope you still loved using the swimming pool and had time to explore the Cotswolds. Property Owner

  • "A lovely comfortable, spacious, well equipped property and a very accommodating owner."

One issue though - frustratingly, the upstairs shower is unusable - the shower head doesn’t locate and move properly in the holder and as a result the water sprays way past the shower screen and onto the floor. Additionally, the shower is fed directly from the bath taps and it is impossible to get the water at a tolerable/constant temperature ie. it’s either scalding hot or freezing cold - just when you think you’ve got a temperature you can live with it suddenly changes. I recommend the owner takes a shower in this bathroom to understand the difficulties. For us (a party of 6 adults) it meant we were queuing for the downstairs wet room which meant it took over 2 hours for us all to shower before we could start our day.

Thank you for your feedback. We are so sorry to hear of the issues that you encountered during your stay and hope that they did not leave a lasting impact. We hope to welcome you back to Stone Wheel Cottage any time in the future. Property Owner

The owners were very friendly. I did feel that the showers could have been modernised especially the one upstairs and in the kitchen I would have liked some big bowls and baking tins. But over all an excellent place to stay and I would definitely stay again.

The local pub served fantastic food and is only a short walk down the road. The cottage is looking a little tired in places and some areas could do with a little more attention when cleaning, but overall it was very nice and we would stay again.

  • "It was a last minute booking after a recent family bereavement, so generally, we were happy with the booking."

However, there were a number of things we felt were in desperate need of modernisation. First of all, the bathrooms. The showers were particularly bad, the one in the bathroom upstairs didn't even attach to the wall, and there was no mirror above the sink so it was impossible to shave. There was a mirror above the sink in the wet room downstairs but the light wasn't working! The bedroom with the twin beds in (where we put our children) was particularly cold, and when the heating came on, the boiler in the room beneath them was so loud it woke them up at 5am for three days straight! I do understand that upgrading the boiler isn't cheap, but it was the noisiest I've ever heard and could easily be replaced with a much quieter one. All the pipes throughout the house banged loudly when the heating came on. Some urgent plumbing work is required. The TV was tiny and could be updated, there was no option to use catch-up or apps etc, something the owners could easily rectify. But I think the thing which really was unforgivable was that there were huge dog poos everywhere inside the grounds. Why these hadn't been picked up I really don't understand. I think it's obvious that this property is managed by a large agency who are clearly based several hundred miles away, and don't get to inspect it on a regular basis. I couldn't recommend staying here to anyone until some major refurb and clean up work is undertaken

Thank you for taking the time to leave your comments on Stone Wheel Cottage. We have raised your concerns with the Owner who will investigate these. Many Thanks Manor Cottages. Property Owner
