“A lovely house and location opposite the church.”

Big spacious rooms and a beautifully tended garden. Well equipped and we were left a generous range of welcome food. So lots of positives. However when we arrived the temperature inside the house was several degrees colder than the outside (even in January) and it took us 36 hours to get it up to 14 C. It was only on the 3rd and final night that we got the temperature to a comfortable level. The log fire in the lounge was great but we couldn't find a wood pile and there were only a few logs ...

The log fire in the lounge was great but we couldn't find a wood pile and there were only a few logs provided. We needed to go out and buy wood the following day. Overall a lovely place, but for future visitors please make sure the central heating is on in advance.

We are extremely sorry that you had an issue with the heating during your stay. We had a NEST system installed to avoid this from happening. The system has an eco setting which means when it doesn't detect movement for 24 hours it automatically turns the heating down. Unfortunately for some reason this was set at 5 degrees, which means it would have taken a long time to get up to temperature. We have now reviewed this and the eco setting is now set to 12.5 degrees. For the future we will always make sure we check the temperature the day before guests are due in. - Sykes owner relations

The property

The Old Vicarage, West Hanney is possibly as quintessential an English home as you can imagine!

Situated across the lane from village church and with more attractive buildings nearby this location simply oozes beauty.

The Old Vicarage is a designer tour-de-force where the owners have brought together some eclectic touches with classic Georgian rooms (think light, spacious and airy) to create a truly exceptional holiday home.

There is something here to please everyone, from the superb kitchen for a fine feast, a luxury living room for adult relaxing to a games room with pool table to a kids room complete with oodles of games and wigwam.

Everyone will love this home.

Upstairs are four large bedrooms and two bathrooms, an ideal family set up with one bedroom very much a kids haven.

Step outside and you have a large garden, with lots of 'secret rooms' - ideal for playing and for hide and seek - or just sitting and watching everyone else play! This is an exceptional home, we can imagine many families arriving and not wanting to leave, especially when there is an excellent pub about 75 yards from your front door.
