  • "The cottage is beautiful and in the most idyllic village."

Everything was perfect in the property. Loved being able to walk through the grounds of Wroxton Abbey

  • "This was our second stay in Spring Cottage this year."

It is hard to imagine a better-presented holiday home in a more picturesque setting. The grounds of Wroxton Abbey, just across the road, are really appealing for a walk, especially in the early-evening sunlight. The next- door neighbours (the village ducks) were a bit quieter at night this time round, possibly because the mating season was well and truly over.

We are very pleased to have welcomed you to Spring Cottage twice in succession. Thank you for your lovely comments. We are glad that you enjoy the setting and wildlife. We look forward to welcoming you again. Best wishes Hideaways Property Owner

  • "On the whole a lovely stay."

Its a small, cosy and very clean place with no garden and the small outside space is very visible to all passers (though the cottage is just across the road from the lovely University gardens). Set in the most beautiful village and next to a picturesque duck pond it is really well located for some fab locations in Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and the cotswolds. Patsy the housekeeper was lovely, responsive and fantastic. But the house has a few niggles - the shower water pressure isn't great and the shower hose looks as if it might split soon. There were a few spiders but it's a thatched cottage, that is to be expected. The freezer is in the garage which can only be accessed by leaving the house (and was off when we arrived). The TV was a bit small but fitting for the really nice inglenook fireplace. Sound proofing was limited and you can hear easily between the lounge and the two bedrooms. The people in the village were really helpful and friendly. Although it's quite a list the niggles are all small, we'd definitely consider coming back.

Thank you for taking the time to provide this feedback and we're glad you enjoyed your stay and also the lovely village setting. As the cottage is Grade II listed, we don't want to spoil the character in any way but the matters you mention are being looked into so thank you for bringing them to our attention. We hope they didn't impact your stay and that we can welcome you again. Property Owner

  • "A stay at Spring Cottage puts you front-and-centre of Wroxton life."

You are living next door to the village duck pond and across the road from the beautiful gardens of Wroxton Abbey. Wroxton is arguably the most attractive of a crop of stunning villages in the Banbury area and this cottage, with its lovely ironstone walls and thatched roof, fits perfectly into the scene. It is also comfortable, beautifully appointed and well-equipped. We are already planning a return visit. Alan

  • "The village is lovely as is the cottage."

The beds were super comfy with gorgeous linen . We could easily park two large cars. All the pubs in the village are now closed The nearest place for food is a few miles away. The cottage has no freezer or even an ice box which is worth noting.as the village also does not have a shop. Sainsbury’s Ocado and Waitrose do deliver . A beautiful cottage in an idyllic position .

  • "The description of the cottage mentioned on two occasions, there were 2 pubs in the village but they both have been closed for a while now."

I did contact Sykes via feedback about this but received no response. Very misleading. The cottage is lovely, so quiet and the village of Wroxton is quiet and beautiful too. We would happily stay again. Would benefit from a small freezer for ice etc, for those hot Summer days and its a bit of a lip driving onto the drive from the road. Its kinder to your car to park on the road next to the duck pond. Really comfortable though, but TV is on the small side. We would be happy to stay again, but Sykes should correct the listing though

All furnishings were of a good quality. The cottage had been thoroughly cleaned for our arrival and a couple of lights had been left on to make it feel welcoming.

  • "The lovely duck pond is an added bonus."

The housekeeper was very helpful. The house has lots of character, very quirky. Easy parking. We found the local walks folder very helpful and tried many. Not suitable for people who have mobility issues. The house is in an excellent position to explore the area. The shower area of the bathroom was adequate but could do with an update but this minor issue did not detract from a wonderful holiday. Tip sit in the large window recess to make phonecalls or send texts.

  • "The cottage although visibly attractive did not live up to expectation."

It was not cleaned to an acceptable standard. We had to wash glasses, utensils and empty crumbs out of the drawers and more. We also had to hoover behind the furniture which judging by the dust and cobwebs had not been cleaned for over a week.

Thank you for your feedback regarding your recent stay at Spring Cottage. We take all feedback very seriously and have spoken to the owner regarding this. The Housekeeper takes pride in cleaning the cottage and because it's a thatched cottage it does get cobwebs very quickly after cleaning. With regards to the crumbs and utensils that might have been missed, the Housekeeper is very apologetic that she missed this, she believes this was due to the amount of Covid cleaning she is doing and it was missed off. • "It was a lovely cosy cottage, with all the equipment and facilities necessary, but perhaps more suitable for a weekend than an extended stay."

A couple of points: 1We were surprised, given we were staying three weeks at the property, not to be offered cleaning or change of linen and towels. We did not anticipate having to do our own cleaning and bedding laundry in a 'holiday' cottage. When I raised this with the company I was told the expectation was that we should arrange it ourselves with the owners - but we did not have any direct contact with the owners and in any case, we were not aware of the requirement. 2.the heating in the living room was on all night which made it very hot. There were strict instructions not to change the settings so we didn't. Heating in the kitchen was working as set out in the information folder.

  • "We have stayed many times in Spring Cottage and have always really enjoyed it."

The cottage is a real picture perfect "cottage" and although quite small is very comfortable with two bedrooms, kitchen, bathroom and lounge. It is ideally situated next to the village duck pond in what must be one of the prettiest villages in Oxfordshire. There are lovely walks in the Abbey grounds which are only a few meters away and it is not far from a lot of the main tourist attractions in the Cotswolds making it an ideal base for a holiday

  • "The cottage is so superbly appointed, there was really nothing missing at all."

Add to that a lovely welcome, and so much information on the area and what to see and do, it all made a huge difference to our holiday. It felt like staying at a friend's house. Spring Cottage was absolutely beautiful, in a village that has to be one of the best kept secrets in the country!

  • "The cottage was located in a lovely village and it was a great place to settle into for our short break."

Just a short walk from the cottage was The White Horse Inn that had great food. We loved the thatched roof on the cottage. It was very quiet at night and the beds were comfortable.
