  • “Hill View Lodge is a brilluant timber Lodge in a stunning tranquil location, all you can hear is the birds, pheasants and cattle in the distance.”

On arrival the Lodge was spotlessly clean and a welcome pack consisting of, a cake, packet of yummy chocolate biscuits, tea, coffee, sugar and milk, there were even two Bonio biscuits for our dogs. Overall the Lodge was adequately equipped and furnished, though I understand the lounge seating is to be replaced. The bed was very comfortable, so quite we slept like a log. The decking runs the length of the Lodge and along the end with a table and 4 chairs, great to sit out to eat, drink or soak up the sunshine, the dogs loved it as they could run about and play on there, we had taken an expanding trellis to close off the entrance to the deck. Plenty of parking for two cars. The long green in front of the Lodge was ideal to exercise the dogs. The owners do not live nearby but were very helpful with a query that we had and it was resolved within hours. The nearest towns, are CleoBury 4 miles, Highley 5 miles and Bewdley 7 miles, the nearest hamlet is Stottesden 2.1/2 miles away with a quaint local pub and cafe supplying good food, dogs also welcome. It was a very relaxing holiday, made all the better for a week of brilliant sunshine, we will definitely be going again.

About the location

STOTTESDON

Cleobury Mortimer 5 miles; Bridgnorth 10 miles; Ludlow 12 miles.

The pretty village of Stottesdon lies amidst the wonderful Shropshire countryside between the lovely historic towns of Bridgnorth and Ludlow. The village offers a small shop and a pub serving award-winning food, and many scenic walks, cycle trails and bridleways to explore, whilst a number of fishing lakes including Chelmarsh Reservoir, 5 miles away, are ideal for fishing and sailing. The lovely town of Bridgnorth, 10 miles from Stottesdon, lies in two distinct halves, separated by the red sandstone ridge on which the town is built. The two halves are also connected by winding streets, flights of steps and, for the weary traveller, the funicular railway. The town also offers a bustling Saturday street market and relaxing strolls along the winding River Severn. In the areas surrounding Bridgnorth, there are a wealth of country parks, National Trust houses, museums and picturesque Shropshire villages, as well as easy access to the exciting Severn Valley Railway, West Midland Safari Park, the Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford, and Ironbridge Gorge with its 10 museums and striking landscape. The nearby medieval town of Ludlow has more than 500 listed buildings and its medieval street pattern remains almost intact and provides a fascinating backdrop for the town’s regular street markets, held in the shadow of the castle and showcasing a range of goods - from cheeses and fresh produce to books and local crafts. Shrewsbury, picturesque Church Stretton and Much Wenlock are also all within easy reach of this delightful area.
