  • "To stressed to enjoy my holiday because of the mess up about the cottage at Clay Cross and of you taking the balance for it twice then refunded it back and it took a while to get it totally refunded."

L will have to think twice about booking with you again.

  • "We stayed here for 4 weeks as we were between houses."

Ian and Debbie made us really welcome and couldn't do enough for us. The Forge was spotlessly clean and well equipped. There were lots of little touches such as ornaments and soap, kitchen towel, cling film etc supplied.. We had a great time.

  • "This was 5-star accommodation regard to cleanliness and facilities."

Our stay was part holiday – visiting the local National Trust properties and the British Motor Museum – and part ancestry as 5 generations of our family lived in Barston, Berkswell and Balsall. There was some noise from the road adjacent to the property and the nearby Birmingham airport early in the morning but this was not too disturbing. There was no EE mobile signal and the WIFI signal strength was poor in the property but reasonable outside in the garden. Overall it was an excellent holiday and the hosts were lovely people.

  • "Overall it was a pleasant stay."

Forge was clean and cosy. The kitchen was functional so it was a good base rather than using cooking facilities. Didn't leave much of a welcome pack also garden was unfinished project. We did have alovely relaxing stay so that met are expectations. Overall could be cheaper has only used as a base.

Lovely little cottage tastefully done Very warm welcome and helpful owners Great for long walks in the countryside and fantastic food in the pub next door Some road noise from local farm traffic but it is harvest and muck spreading season so only to be expected

  • "The Forge is very well appointed and scrupulously clean."

It has been done out recently, and was finished beautifully with a good attention to detail. The hosts, Ian and Debbie, who live next door, are lovely and very helpful. The garden is fully enclosed to the road, but not necessarily to next door's garden (there's a wall separating the gardens), so if you have a very nosey dog like ours, you may be fetching him from next door regularly, which was never a problem. Barston itself is a pretty village with a couple of good pubs, which is in easy reach of the M42. There are some lovely walks in and around the village, and with the Grand Union Canal close by miles of flat walks there too. Warwick, Stratford and Leamington are within easy reach as are Knowle and Dorridge for food shopping. a little further afield, the Cave Houses in Kinver Edge are worth a visit. We enjoyed our week in the Forge and would certainly come back.

  • "Deb, Ian & Alice (I didn't meet Harry as he was away at Uni) were amazing hosts."

I have been travelling around the UK with my wonderful, ageing cocker spaniel since arriving back on the 10th November 2019 from 8 years working abroad. I was waiting for my belongings to arrive back in the UK via sea freight, and then be customs cleared, so rather than stay in one place I decided that we would travel around the UK, staying in different pet friendly cottages near to my frends and family. That is 82 successive nights in pet friendly accommodation all over the country. The Forge is, without a doubt, the best experience of our road trip. It is a lovely cottage, perfect for my pooch and me, but meeting the owners ramped the experience up massively. They are a truly lovely family and could not have done more to make the stay more enjoyable. I honestly cannot recommend the Forge highly enough - lovely owners, lovely cottage, great pet friendly pub less than 50 yards away - what's not to like???

  • "The cottage was convenient for Coventry and places of interest such as Stratford and Warwick and a number of national trust properties."

There were places nearby for dog walking and lots of dog friendly eating establishments in the vicinity. The owner was friendly, easily contactable, and helpful and we appreciated the bottle of wine left in the fridge.

It is very conveniently placed for events at the NEC (15 mins drive) and for all the NT properties in Warwickshire, plus it has an excellent pub next door if you want a special meal.

  • "We loved our stay at the Forge, it was cosy and very clean, with everything catered for a perfect holiday."

The owners were exceptionally friendly and welcoming and included some lovely extras for an enjoyable stay. It was a great base to visit the many National Trust properties in the area, together with castles, motor museums and the Shakespeare experience in Stratford. There were also many lovely walks straight from the doorstep. We stayed with our dog and found most properties allowed him in the grounds and parkland, even Shakespeare's properties. Also most pubs let dogs in too. We did go to the Malt Shovel next door for a meal and although pricey was excellent, you could not fault the meal or the service. We would definately recommend the Forge.

The owners made us very welcome, giving us wine, bread, butter, milk and flowers on arrival. The cottage was very well equipped, including things we were not expecting, like toiletries, washing up liquid and many other items. It was great to be able to take our dog and she really liked the rug! The cottage was very well decorated and very clean. We enjoyed meeting up with our family and friends in the area and the owners recommended some good dog friendly pubs. It was a really good break.

There is a pub next door which we visited for a meal very nice meal & not too expensive, not dog friendly. There is another pub in the village that welcomed dogs so we visited for lunch whilst out walking again nice food We walked along the grand union canal at Baddesley Clinton a nice easy walk with a pub on the way to stop for refreshments which was dog friendly. We also took the dog for a run to Malvern & Brueton Park in Solihull which is a nice park with acres of land and a lake no pub. So all in all lovely break & would highly recommend the Forge.
