  • "We had a very enjoyable week."

The hosts Clare and Chris were very helpful and friendly. The little extras, home made cake, marmalade and fresh eggs were a lovely touch and the meal prepared by Clare for my first night was excellent. My two dogs played happily with the resident dogs which were also very friendly. The location of the cottage was very rural and peaceful and all that could be heard was birdsong and lambs bleating. I enjoyed the wider location and would love to return at some point and would stay in the cottage again. It was like visiting a friend rather than a paid holiday.

It was lovely to meet you Jacky I’m so glad you enjoyed your week away with us. Thank you for leaving everything so clean and tidy. Hope to see you again one day. Property Owner

  • "We returned today, having the the pleasure of staying in Foxeholes Barn Shropshire, and I must say it was a delightful experience from start to finish."

The hosts of the accommodation were nothing short of excellent. Their warm hospitality and attention to detail made me feel welcome and at home throughout my stay. They were always ready to assist with any inquiries and went above and beyond to ensure my comfort. Clare cooked us a fantastic meal for our first night. It was amazing. The location of the accommodation was truly enchanting. Nestled in the heart of Shropshire, surrounded by picturesque countryside, it provided a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The breathtaking views and serene atmosphere added an extra layer of relaxation to my stay, making it a perfect retreat. Speaking of the countryside, the natural beauty of Shropshire is simply unparalleled. The rolling hills, meandering rivers, and charming villages create a postcard-worthy setting. Exploring the local countryside was a highlight of my trip, and I appreciated the easy access from the accommodation to the scenic landscapes. Overall, my stay in Foxeholes Barn was a memorable and rejuvenating experience. The combination of excellent hosts, a idyllic location, and stunning countryside made it a perfect getaway. I would highly recommend Shropshire to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat with a touch of charm and hospitality.

The barn is lovely and comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. There were some lovely touches, fresh eggs from the hens, dog treats and some flowers placed in the kitchen. The surrounding area is beautiful and very peaceful. We would highly recommend staying at Foxhole Barns.

Thank you Carol. So lovely to meet you, Fred and Ozzie. Glad you enjoyed your stay and the extra treats. P.s. there is actually a blind built in on the bedroom window. You must have missed it. Property Owner

  • "The owners were friendly, welcoming and cheery - clearly very nice people."

The property was clean and well equipped. There was parking outside the gates of the property. The reason for my low score is that I don't think the information about this property is strictly true. Downstairs was a very small kitchen space, so small that the table and one chair were under the stairs (don't stand up too quickly!). The table could be pulled out into the kitchen area if two people needed to use it (I stayed there on my own) I suppose. However, that would have meant placing the table directly outside the bathroom (with toilet) door. I have to be honest and say that I would not have booked if I had known there was just a single door separating the kitchen and toilet. Upstairs was as described, with a spacious living room and bedroom. However, the living room room is over part of the property that is not let but is used as a home office (the large glass door / window in the picture). I booked the property to visit certain places in the area, but also to spend some time just relaxing, studying and reading. Unfortunately, noise from the office below rather spoiled this. It is not that the person was particularly noisy but I was able to hear movement, doors slamming and phone calls. It was more like staying in a poorly insulated flat. I appreciate the property belongs to the owners and they can use it and let it as they want to but I feel potential holiday renters should be made aware that they will be staying above an office. Had there not been the issues listed above, I would not have mentioned the other noise issue, but other holidaymakers do need to be aware. The owners have two gorgeous, friendly dogs (I am a dog owner). On one evening, the dogs were, I can only assume, left home alone, which is the right of the owners to do, of course. However, from Foxholes Barn (living room, kitchen and bedroom) I could clearly hear the dogs barking frequently all evening until after 11.15pm. I feel disappointed that this property, in my opinion, was not described accurately and would be reluctant to trust the information provided by Sykes again.

Scones jams and eggs waiting for us. Half the ground floor taken up with owners home office leaving very small kitchen dining area. We did not consider this a dog friendly cottage as the owners two weimeraners took an instant dislike to our two typically benign labradors making it difficult to come and go without checking their whereabouts. Had the weather been better we could not have sat outside in the shared courtyard because of this.

Been going away for my Birthday weekend for the last 11 years to a different spot in the countryside and Foxholes Barn in the Shropshire Hills will go down as one of the best weekends ever. Clare and Chris were just incredible hosts and their recommendations of where to eat made the break so much easier, as they were superb places. They also offered us before we arrived, the choice of a meal, which we took up and it was absolutely delicious. Foxholes Barn was warm, had everything we need to cook for ourselves, which we did for 2 of the nights, and was just a stress-free experience all round. We did three walks during our break, all with good hills and stunning views. I thought this was great value and I'd highly recommend!

  • "The warmth and hospitality of the owners, Clare and Chris, was great - the homemade cakes and home baked bread provided on arrival were lovely treats."

And Gus, their friendly dog, readily accepted out small terrier. There are walks nearby and we were welcome to walk through their garden to their large field. We also took advantage of Clare's offer to provide very tasty meals for us, for a modest cost, on two evenings. A couple of minor tweaks needed maybe, in that the bedroom radiator didn't turn off properly and the shower control was stiff to turn on, but the helpfulness of Clare and Mike easily compensated for this. They also keep chickens in a very upmarket hen house - a Hilton hotel for chickens - so on leaving we bought a dozen eggs to take home. A memorable stay and the owners being on site meant there was a lovely personal, but not intrusive, touch.

It was lovely to meet Adrian, Jill and Skip during their stay. I am glad you enjoyed your time with us. Chris and I were only too happy to help you out and make you feel welcome. The radiator and shower are due to be looked at this week when the plumber can make it to us and will be changed in due course with our planned renovations. My apologies for these issues.
