“The scenery was lovely.”

The cottage itself was fabulous, more than enough space for the 6 adults. Comfortable, and so warm! There was everything we needed provided. The hot tub was clean and eith the added extra of towels provided. The chocolate cake, and milk was very appreciated as we had forgotten our milk!!

“Fabulous accommodation, highly recommend.”

The lodge was much bigger than we expected, plenty of room for 6 adults. Great to have option of single or double beds in all rooms. Facilities all seemed brand new and everything was super clean. Amazing hot tub, especially great at this time of the year in the cold! Lovely peaceful setting by the lakes (though proximity to motorway did mean you could hear road noise outside, quiet inside though). All the extra little touches made it extra special (Christmas tree, tea/coffee/milk provided, the owners even brought us a cake!). The owners were lovely and really have thought of everything you could need for a great stay.

“We had a fantastic stay in Birch Lodge.”

The owner was welcoming and helpful. The lodge was spacious, and lovely and warm. The little added extras made all the difference, such as milk, tea, coffee, washing up items, and a fantastic cake! Plus there was plenty plates/mugs/bowls/glasses too. We would happily recommend to others.

“You are lucky to get me to do a survey especially on the pretense of entry to a prize draw.”

Firstly I think your systems are fairly good but you assume too much about the customer and generate such automated rubbish in emails which don't take into account simple things like was this a holiday or a business trip, in my case I needed to be in a quiet location with good cellular access so I could do some very important remote working for my employer, it's easy to find out how far a person traveled from their home to the place of stay, in my case 10 minutes so why all the silly emails like "only a week until your holiday". It was not a holiday!!! Once I started to get those emails I changed my preferences to no contact from any source yet you still sent one about feedback which I have accepted but only so I could write this. You should know my thoughts on the property as I booked another for November which your email purports to know nothing about, I did not even check if there was any, even slight discount for booking again but there we go and there is feedback for you to ignore. Finding out more about your customer will stop the silly annoyances and make you business a whole lot more friendly. I know I speak for the few but we are here and our voices are just as important.

The lodge was spotlessly clean and well equipped. Alan even spent time teaching my children to fish which they enjoyed immensely. He gave up his time to do this which was very nice of him. We had such a lovely peaceful week.

“We had a amazing week at Birch lodge.”

The lodge itself is finished to a beautiful standard and had everything we needed and more, we all loved spending time in the luxury hot tub on the decking which had it's own privacy so you were not over looked. The view of the lake from the decking was amazing and very peaceful. This was a family holiday for us with our children and we found it to be a good base for days out with the children,I would definitely recommend Warwich castle which is la short drive from the lodge. I would also like to mention the owner Alan and he's staff who were extremely friendly and helpful. Alan also taught myself and children how to fish and provided us with fishing tackle which we really enjoyed. The lady from the cafe on site made us a beautiful chocolate cake on arrival which was fantastic. The cafe served some really nice homemade meals and prices were very good. The entire grounds were kept very clean and tidy with amazing views accrosed the 18 lakes. We had a brilliant holiday and will definitely return again in the future.

“Beautiful lodge, in the perfect location.”

The lodge was spotless, had everything we needed and the owner was really helpful and on hand with anything we needed. The lodge is located by the fishery and the views were lovely. There was no WiFi available, but this did not affect our stay. The only downside while staying at Birch Lodge was the issue with ants and spiders indoors which was not so pleasant, but overall would recommend.

He liaised carefully and made sure that we had everything we needed when we arrived. The holiday accommodation was just as advertised. The lodge was warm and spacious and well furnished and the hot tub was clean and well set up. The owner could not have been more helpful. We would definitely go again. However we did not have any communication from Sykes other than the inaccurate email that told us we would be given directions to the holiday accommodation once we had paid in full. We HAD paid in full. Although Sykes did send us another email to say that we had paid, the directions did not come from them. I did not feel that Sykes as a company were particularly attentive in this matter.

Makins Fishery Cottages

A pair of refreshing, roomy wooden lodges near the village of Wolvey in north Warwickshire. They both come with open plan living areas and flexible sleeping arrangements making them ideal for families to come together and enjoy a break away from the hustle and bustle. The interior of both lodges are decorated with calming, neutral colours, the open plan living areas are spacious and well-stocked with comfortable seating in front of an electric fire and Freeview TV to make it the perfect place to sit and chill with the fishing lake in full view through the patio doors. All of the beds are zip/link, making the arrangements flexible whether you want a double bed or two singles, one of the rooms comes with a delightful en-suite shower room. The interior of Makin Fishery Cottages are complete with large family bathrooms. Out of the patio doors sits a perfect decking area with furniture and views towards the lake, they also come with a large hot tub to make the holiday that bit more relaxing. Each lodge also comes with an outdoor storage shed for fishing equipment and bikes. The village of Wolvey is small and delightful, offering two fantastic eating pubs and a village shop to provide a fantastic base for your holiday. Nuneaton is a short drive away, a bustling town with a fantastic range of amenities and activities for all of the family. Further afield of Nuneaton there are many big, busy cities such as Birmingham and Leicester. The Makin Fishery Cottages are two very well-presented lodges in a very scenic location.

A delightfully small village in the north of Warwickshire. Wolvey is small yet offers all of your essentials including two very well-respected bar/restaurants along with a village shop, post office, bowling club and the Wolvey Hall, a Grade II listed building dating back to the 17th century. The parish village also has the River Anker running through it and offers some fantastic views, buildings and scenery. Despite this being a charming village, there are a lot of big cities nearby. Should you need to go shopping then Birmingham is within easy access, whereas a more cultural place would be Stratford-upon-Avon, the birthplace of Shakespeare. Closer is the town of Nuneaton, a thriving place offering something for everybody.
