  • "We had a great 10 days at Mart Lane."

Perfectly situated for us to see family. With lovely views of the canal basin and the barges. Two minute walk from the River Severn, canals, pubs and restaurants. Pretty garden area with seating and a big bonus is the two private parking spaces at the back of the house. Extremely quiet too which we loved as we live in the countryside. Super comfy home which made our one day and evenings in really cosy. You really couldn't ask for anything else in a home. We visited Warwick Castle, Alton Towers, The Black Country Museum, Legoland (London) & The West Midlands Safari Park. We used The Angel pub, beer was good, great views & lovely staff but food was standard & very slow (one hour for a sandwich and a gammon meal and only one other table outside ordering food and no one inside - wouldn't like to order during the Summer!), Namaste Indian for take away (which is right at the end of the road) and oh my word the food was amazing, The Old Beams (went twice), food was fab and the staff were great, Golden country (High Street) for Cantonese food (take away) and again amazing food. There are lots of tearooms in Stourport (including one right along from the house) with lovely looking cake etc but we just didn't have time to visit. We tried Kimmy loves cake in Bewdley and omg this is a must. Michelle the owner was lovely and easily contactable. We will definitely be staying at Mart Lane again soon and recommending to our friends. We took two older teens and a five year old and they loved it. Netflix and YouTube were a god send and great WIFI too. The small TV room was awesome as five year olds don't always want to watch what us oldies do! We are in our 50s so the house was perfect for us all and there was something to do locally for all ages.. Thank you Michelle... x

  • "The cottage was furnished to a very high standard and comprehensively equipped."

Spotlessly clean. Location is superb with really nice walks from the doorstep and with shops and eateries only a short walk away. Recommend Namaste Indian Restaurant which is literally less than 100 metres walk. Read previous reviews about parking and noise - yes there was a car parked constantly out front but parking at rear was more than adequate and, in my view, more secure. Noise from the road was really only from a few cars and pedestrians on Friday and Saturday evenings and was definitely not excessive. Only disappointment was the bed in the master which was certainly not 'King size' as listed.

  • "The house is described as having 3 parking spaces when in fact it has 2."

Sleep quality was generally quite poor as there's car and walking traffic right outside the house. Only 1 TV of the 2 had a working aerial. Kitchen was very small, difficult to work in. House was generally well presented and comfortable, very close to local amenities.

  • "We have stayed at 7 Mart Lane before so knew what to expect."

It is a well equipped and well furnished cottage which is situated on the edge of the Stourport Canal Basin with lots of interesting things going on. The cottage location is ideal for visiting a number of interesting places in Worcestershire and beyond including the Severn Valley Railway and Midlands Safari Park. There is a supermarket within walking distance, plus a Victorian café and a Pub. The cottage is very roomy and the beds very comfortable.

  • "Although there was an allocated parking space outside the front of the property a local car a black mini was parked there every day."

There were two spaces at the back also so did not cause an issue but would have been better to be able to park at front to unload car on first day.

  • "The house is very comfortable and nicely decorated."

Showers and so on are all very good and the kitchen is well-equipped. Crockery is particularly nice! The views from the front are lovely with the life of a busy canal basin. All rooms have views - only slight quibble that you couldn't open the blind in the sitting room but I imagine they will sort that out shortly. It is a short walk to some nice pubs and cafes around the wharf, and the river Severn. The town centre is a bit run down but pleasant enough. There is a big Tesco very nearby. The area around Stourport is very interesting - Wyre forest, the Severn Valley railway, West Midlands Safari Park, Kinver Edge, Bewdley and National Trust properties.
