The kitchen has all the equipment we could have wanted too, even gin glasses! I used the oven a few times, it cooked evenly which is always nice. We visited the local pub with our dogs for a drink, enjoyed the walk and the pubs garden although we didn't eat there. The garden at Hoden View is very well kept and my dogs enjoyed exploring it.

Bed linen on both beds needs to be of a more generous size. Not sure when property was last used but you could write your name on the bathroom radiator due to amount of dust and a lot of the crockery was unclean. Also not a great selection of kitchen items available. The two slabs outside the gate to property were uneven and loose, causing a member of our party to fall. No information provided at all on local amenities etc. Needless to say we definitely wouldn’t return to this property and left a day early.

Sorry to hear this we have now taken up the slaps outside the property , we put them down to accommodate a previous visitor in a wheelchair The bed is a standard 3 ft single bed with standard size sheets but I will certainly look at deeper sized sheets Apologies for the dusty radiator if you had contacted me I would of sent a cleaner over as I expect high standards I have also put the visitors book back in with information on local amenities in it Property Owner

Shower was excellent. For us, the lounge area was a little bit style over comfort. Fridge design reduced capacity and sofa not the most comfortable, unless you have very long legs and a short back. Good outside space, rural location. Excellent pub, Kings Arms, 1 mile down the lane in village. Quality pub food, not Gastro. Popular, need to book. In general, it would be nice if Sykes could get property owners to agree a common list of items provided, as we never know what to load in the car. We slept really well there and had a better bathroom than we have at home! The owners left us a bottle of wine and infact came round with another one. It lasted all day and continued into the Friday. Very Noisy heavy machinary and a permanent bonfire which permeated everything. The owners who live just behind the accomadation did not give any warning or appology. When confronted the man said his wife would contact me. He also said the work was starting on the Thursday because new guest were arriving on the Friday. We felt we did not matter as we had already paid. I have waited a week and heard nothing. We could not understand why this work was taking place when they had paying guests. Surely it should have been done in 2020 when they could not have guests.

Paved fenced area outside the door with a large grassed area beyond also fenced, ideal for dogs, lovely walks straight from the cottage. Two cottages together, ideal for families to get together. Owner is on site, available if needed. Due to CV19 there were no information leaflets about local attractions etc so Wi-Fi came in handy. I had booked these cottages for May but because of travel restrictions had to change the dates, due to the website I had to book them seperately which caused great frustration and difficulty, I had the owners telephone number as I had already paid in full. Alison couldn't have been more helpful and understanding, circumstances permitting I would definitely book this property again.

  • "Hoden View is a clean, bright and well appointed cottage with all the amenities you need."

The owners had very kindly left a bottle of wine and some other provisions for us on our our arrival. There is ample parking and the cottage is nice and private. It is in easy reach of places of interest such as Broadway. There are plenty of footpaths and bridleways nearby which was great for us as we have a dog. Due to previous heavy rain many of the paths were very boggy - but that is hardly the fault of the owner. The cottage is situated down a single-track lane approximately 1 mile from the nearest village. Whilst it is nice and secluded, it is a bit of a trek on dark winter nights if you wish to visit the local pub. The furnishings and facilities are all first class. Our only slight criticism was the double bed which was a little too soft for our liking. We would definitely recommend Hoden View to other visitors, but it might be wise leaving it until the lighter nights when the walk to the pub would be more pleasant and the fields would be drier for walking the dog.

When you could neither open nor close the outside doors without the use of force, they immediately tried to solve the problem. They couldn‘t. They told us, it must be because of the extreme weather- conditions. The next problem was the heat in the house. You simply could not air the house, because the only window to provide a stream of air was fixed and therefore not to open. In our son‘s room was boiling heat. The large bedroom was slightly better because of the two windows. Also you could not sit outside because there was no sunshade. The neighbour- house was better, because they had the shadow of large trees in the late afternoon. Two times the wifi broke down but worked again a couple of hours later. A minor problem was that the tub- water wasn‘t cold but mostly hot because of the extreme outside heat. The dinner- table is too big for the place. A maximum of two people can sit there. Not four. Since we stayed there for two weeks we appreciated that on the first friday our beds were made and the floor hovered. The owner charged no extra- fee for that. As a summary we would rather not choose the house again even though it was rather cheap.

Glad we picked it and enjoyed the holiday. A few comments however.... They welcome dogs, which is fine for dog lovers, which we are not. It comprises of two 'cottages' and our neighbours unfortunatley had a barking dog. Not nice for us. The second bedroom is cramped, which we could obviously see from the photos and it really is very cramped with only inches between beds leading to bruised toes/shin getting in and out. Beds have very soft mattresses. Ended up with a back-ache. It would be nice to see bath mat and/or hand rails in the shower as it can get slippery.
