  • "Wigrams is a lovely comfortable cottage in a great location."

It’s peaceful, quiet and relaxing. The cottage faces the canal and at the back is the owners large pond with ducks, moorhens and herons. The cottage is clean and well equipped. The bed was so comfortable and there is a great walk-in shower. The WiFi is the best we’ve ever had in a holiday cottage. We particularly enjoyed the wood burner in the evenings. The welcome basket was the best ever, milk, butter, bread, homemade preserves and honey, fruit and delicious flapjacks. We also enjoyed the daily visits from the free roaming hens. The parking is great, on the owner’s drive. There are lots of places to visit just a short drive away, including several NT properties, the motor museum and Kenilworth Castle. We really didn’t want to leave and hope to go back soon.

The cottage is comfortable, clean and well equipped. It has everything that you could want in a holiday cottage. The location is great. It is peaceful and relaxing and the only things that you can hear are the birds and the canal boats passing by. From every window in the cottage you can see water - either the small lake at the back or the canal at the front. There is a nice welcome pack on arrival. I would highly recommend this cottage.

If the Thames wasn’t like white water rapids, I would have managed to cruise up the Thames, then up the Oxford canal to moor outside, but it wasn’t meant to be this time. Perfectly situated on the junction with the Oxford canal, so plenty of choice for cruises, and plenty of gongoozling!

We spent Christmas here with our dog. On arrival we found a welcome pack which included eggs from the chickens running around the garden, bread, milk, mince pies, butter and home made preserves. The honey was delicious. This was a lovely touch. A very comfortable bed and the walk in shower was fantastic! I would recommend this cottage and may return in the warmer months.

The location was perfect, set off the main road right on the canalside. It was quiet and so relaxing, it was just what we needed. On arrival the owner had provided fruit, milk, butter, eggs and bread as well as flapjack! The cottage is well equipped, the bed is especially comfortable. It was a joy to watch the moorhens while having a shower and enjoy the starling murmuration just along the tow path. Access to Southam, Stratford-upon-avon, Coventry and Daventry was very easy and we found the most beautiful country park in Daventry which the dogs loved. We will definitely be back. Thankyou for sharing your little part of paradise with us.

The 'welcome' supplies of bread, milk, fruit and honey were much appreciated. Kitchen facilities, bathroom, shower and wifi were all first rate. Our only suggestion would be to replace the sofa, which is saggy, cramped and uncomfortable for two people, as the arms intrude into the seating space. By contrast, the bed was exquisitely comfortable.

It was lovely to be able to lie in bed and watch the boats passing by. The friendly chickens could be a little bit of a nuisance as they liked to try to come in the open doors. The welcome pack was beyond our expectations containing milk, bread, eggs, jam, honey, marmalade and some flapjacks. There was also tea and ground coffee for use in the cafetiere. The facilities were perfectly set for self catering although the chopping boards were a little small. There were USB ports in some of the electric sockets so charging devices was easy. Our only complaint was with the heating. Although this was on it seemed to be set at a very low temperature so it was cool when getting up first thing. It was easy to raise the temperature but should not have been necessary. Although wi-fi was available it was a little sketchy anywhere but the bedroom. An extender might be an idea.

The photos don't really show just how nice the cottage and the location really are. The location is beautiful - the immediate area is just so relaxing, watching the boats go past everyday but the wider location is also really pretty. It certainly rivals Cornwall and The Cotswolds, but much better value and much less traffic. There are lots of dog friendly pubs nearby, everyone is very friendly and there are so many beautiful places to dog walk. Our welcome pack was fresh bread, home made jams and homemade flapjacks - fabulous and very much appreciated. We will definitely be back. Sykes on the other hand are not so good - there have got too big and no longer understand customer service. They really need to get their act together and not work against the cottage owners, who work so hard to offer a great product.

Try to use it anywhere else and it drops out frequently. Beautiful walk in shower but need to take care as it becomes slippery. Wonderful kitchen, well equipped with modern appliances. It is simply and tastefully decorated and equipped; deceptively spacious. We lacked for nothing in the equipment provided and it was very clean. We particularly appreciated the welcome pack that was left for us - bread, milk, freshly laid eggs etc. The cottage is remote and in the heart of the countryside but within a fairly strenuous walk of the village and a good pub/restaurant. Because of the canal there were plenty of boaters and walkers to speak to. Altogether an excellent holiday.

The only drawback was that the cottage is joined to the owners B&B and one of its bedrooms was above ours. Unfortunately for us during our stay for three nights persons using the B&B bedroom decided they needed to get out of bed at 3.30 am and walk up and down for 30 mins or so - and not too light on their feet either ! Obviously this kept us awake for those periods. I know we were just unlucky and it didn't spoil the holiday just something to be aware of . We enjoyed the cottage so much we certainly plan to return
