Within easy walking distance to the town centre, river and theatre. We even got good weather. We came to Stratford 50 years ago on honeymoon so we were celebrating our Golden Wedding. The welcome pack was one of the best we have ever received and was much appreciated by us and Jasper, the dog.

Jean and I are pleased that Number 5 was the perfect location for your Golden Wedding celebration. Stratford on Avon has some lovely walks for for all ages and abilities and it sounds like you and Jasper found some of them. Thank you for your kind comments. Property Owner

It had everything we needed. the only minor grumble would be the number on the cooker dial have been worn/cleaned away and not being used to a gas oven it was a bit trial and error to get timings right but this did not spoil our stay in any way. The beds/bedding were extremely comfortable and we both enjoyed a good night sleep. Our dog Lucy enjoyed the garden and was mesmerised by the goldfish.

Many thanks for your comments and the fact that you enjoyed your stay at No 5. We will look into re instating the numbers on the cooker dial worn away by our enthusiastic cleaning team. Kind regards, Stephen & Jean. Property Owner

Stratford is a lovely town. There is so much to see and do without needing to take the car. The house is spacious, very clean, comfortable and very well equipped. I think the owners have thought of everything. Many thanks for the welcome note, wine, chocolates, biscuits and Pip (the dog) loved his treats too. I loved the sun room, but my only niggle is, that I couldn’t sit in there for very long, as the chairs are not that comfortable even though I doubled up on the cushions. We would highly recommend the property and would love to stay again.

perfect location for town, river/canal and country walks. Comfortable bed, sofas, plus kitchen fully equipped with everything you could want, nothing overlooked. The garden was lovely, very private, a real bonus, as we had our dog with us we spent more time in the garden/property than we would normally due to the extremely hot weather (too hot for our dog). No issues with parking plenty of spaces any time of day. Lovely welcome pack with wine, chocolates, milk and biscuits, much appreciated. If we visited Stratford again we would definitely stay at this property.

Thank you for your charming comments. We are extremely pleased that you found everything at No 5 to your liking. June is such a lovely month with the roses in full bloom in the garden. The house was very spacious and homely and the host had thought of everything , including dvd’s, books and games. The kitchen was very well equipped to prepare and serve family meals and the bedrooms had plenty of storage space, comfortable beds and dressing tables with hairdryers. Fabulous location - few mins walk to centre and we were able to enjoy the Midlands Air show 20 mins away and the beautiful villages in the Cotswolds from 30 mins drive The parking permit for 1 car was great and there are several car parks from £12 per 24 hrs for second cars minutes from the house.

Thank you very much for your glowing review. As we have said in previous reviews we really do try extremely hard to make sure everything at No 5 is as perfect as it can be, baring in mind the period and design of the property. Your comments perfectly reflect the energy we put into getting it right. We look forward to welcoming you back. Property Owner

  • "We were visiting the lovely town of Stratford-upon-Avon from the United States and booked this property for a three-night stay."

The home is located within walking distance of the train station, shops, and the Shakespeare attractions. It is on a through road and near a major thoroughfare so there is some traffic noise during the day. It was fairly quiet at night. Although it is an older home it is well maintained and the carpet and furnishings were clean and in good condition. The kitchen was large, recently renovated, and fully stocked. The bathroom situation was not ideal with the toilet in a small room with no sink but the only way to fix that would be to tear down a wall and make the bathroom bigger. The welcome gifts were a nice touch and the owners responded to our questions quickly. There are a few things that would make this rental go from good to great. Firstly, the bedrooms need blackout drapes. These are critical in the summer when the sun rises so early. The TV should be replaced with a larger smart model so guests can stream movies and TV shows. And lastly, portable fans are needed since the bedrooms tend to get stuffy at night.

We were disappointed to hear your comments regarding No 5 bearing in mind other reviews on the site. This property was built around 1912 and as such has a lot of original features of the period making it difficult to make major alterations to the property. Making the bathroom bigger by removing the wall would be a super idea but at the cost of having a very small double bedroom. Likewise there is no room in the toilet for a hand basin without removing a wall and making a bedroom smaller. We provide hand gel instead and the bathroom is a few steps away. You rightly say we responded quickly to your query about ‘was there a fan in the property’ as I immediately offered to bring one down for you. You said not to worry it was only a minor thing. I have stayed in many good quality hotels and have yet to find one that offers anything more than a basic TV. When I travel abroad I often find traditional accommodation different to what one is used to at home and I think this needs to be born in mind. Property Owner

On both visits we had no trouble parking outside the property with the parking permit provided. Jean and Stephen, the owners, are attentive and generous and, as we stayed for 2 weeks this time, we had a change of bedding and towels mid-stay. The location is central on a quiet street and there is plenty hot water, a good heating system and a little shop just round the corner. The main bathroom has no wc but there are two separate toilets - one on both floors. These are certainly pretty small if that's of relevance to you. There are plenty of homely touches in the house and the middle bedroom has a lovely new bed so is as comfortable as the other beds now. I think the owners are to be commended on the fact that they have updated the once worn bed, dining room chairs, sun room furniture and sofas so the house is certainly well maintained and a real pleasure to visit. Overall, the house is traditional , spacious and charming and we'd hope to visit again.

  • "The cottage was fine."

A few things could be improved. A few small tables would help for drinks etc. As we sat in lounge there was no other place than the centre coffee table which cannot be reached unless you get up and down. Bathroom could do with a blind as though you cannot see from outside in, in evenings, you would definitely see silhouettes etc which stopped our party having baths after long walks. The garden is great but the constant pump noise of the pond is definitely more than the trickle it should be and stopped us staying in for long periods. Finally we came by train and used buses etc and could have done with a shopper trolley as the shops are a way away. Little details... otherwise good beds, very very clean too...

Thank you for your comments. Our primary concern is for the comfort and well being of our guests. The blind for the bathroom is on the list to be done, but as bookings to date have been consecutive we have not wanted to disturb existing guests. The only sound from the pond is the gentle trickle of water which most people find relaxing. The pump is submerged and totally silent. Whatever background noise you have heard is nothing to do with No 5. I am not aware of any holiday let or hotel supplying shopping trolleys for their guests. Kind regards the owners. Property Owner

The photos show that is is not very modern but not to the full extent. It is extremely outdated. The two toilets are extremely small - the one upstairs is absolutely tiny and does not even have a wash basin. There was no corkscrew which is an essential in a holiday cottage! The plus side is the location which is excellent for walking into the centre of town.

Thank you for providing us with your feedback. With reference to your comments about your stay at No 5, the property dates to the early 20th C and as such the toilet on the first floor is on the small side and hence no wash hand basin could be fitted. The bathroom with wash hand basin is almost next door. We provide wine and chocolates as part of a welcome pack and a combined bottle opener with corkscrew recessed in the handle is supplied with utensils in the Kitchen, easy to overlook. You will see from the photographs on the website that the property is beautifully appointed with a range of modern and period furniture and as such is a true representation of expectation. Ideally located; a mere five minutes walk to the centre of town, and with a delightfully quaint rear garden. The additional sun room was a particularly pleasant feature with patio doors leading outside to garden furniture, lawn and pond. There were washing facilities and a washing line which, I imagine, might be useful to some as well as an iron and ironing board. The kitchen is large and bright and the dining room has a generous sized table with dining chairs which have been replaced with more modern ones since the photographs were originally taken. We found having two WC's very "convenient" indeed (one upstairs and one downstairs) and there was a plethora of towels and toiletries for our use. The owners left a lovely card and gift which offered a warm welcome. We parked without issue right outside the front door, making use of on-street parking with the house's free parking permit. All in all, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this as a delightful holiday home. We certainly hope to stay here again on our regular trips to Stratford Upon Avon.

Our cottage was in the perfect location. A five minute walk away from from the town centre. Plenty to see in the local area, including Warwick Castle, and the beautiful Boulton on the Water. Our cottage was well equipped, with just about everything you could need. There were just a couple of things that we may have benefited from. It had a washing machine, but not a tumble dryer. Not a problem in nice weather, as the rear garden is a real suntrap. But could be a problem if the property is available all year. Also there was no feedback book for the previous visitors to leave any recommendations for places or restaurants to visit. That would have been nice. Other than that, we would definitely recommend the property, as the location is just perfect. A 5 minute walk and you're in Stratford upon Avon. Local supermarkets are a short drive away, so no need to take the kitchen sink away with you.

I had no trouble parking outside the property using the supplied permit. I'd read conflicting reviews about the comfort of the beds, so hopefully this might help. I have fibromyalgia, so rely on having a comfortable bed to ensure my pain levels don't increase. I found the house a bit like the 3 bears home - the large double bed was quite firm and too hard for me, the smaller double bed was very soft and cushioning but a little too soft for me, but the two single beds were just right! I chose this property based on the reviews saying the beds were comfortable as the last time I stayed away I ended up not sleeping properly and in a lot of pain. That didn't happen this time. Altogether I would recommend this property.

Thank you for your informative and well balanced review. Your note regarding Netflix has been taken on board and will be installed shortly. We are pleased that you enjoyed your stay at No. 5 and look forward to seeing you again. Property Owner

  • "I dislike complaing and I am now at another of your properties that exceeds expectations (my cousin letted) the Tudor Rose in Montacutr."

The spacious of 5 Albany Rd and location were excellent. However the attention to detail was not what I have come to expect. The toilet seat upstairs needs tightening. The handle end keeps coming off as well..The beds were not properly supportive nor were the sofas. But what was most annoying was the stained and filthy carpet that really needs replacing . This could be a 4 star property with those improvements. The potential is there. As I said overall location, furnishing and welcome pack all good. We did not have a dog and this would be a great house for one. On the other ha s the Tudor Rose incredible and your photos do not do it justice. This is what I have come to expect. I truly hope this helps you make improvements.

Many thanks for your feedback. I am pleased to confirm that the toilet seat has been replaced. The little decorative knob on the end of the toilet handle has been secured. The beds are all brand new, and many people comment on their comfort but this is down to personal preference. The stained carpet you refer to, is a very small stain below a radiator from a historic leak, but we take on board your comments. Property Owner

  • "Situated in a very convenient place to walk to Stratford-on-Avon town, the river and attractions, it had the added advantage of a residents car parking permit."

We were always able to find a place. The garden room, looking out onto a pretty well planned garden, is lovely and has the sun most of the day. It is a very spacious cottage with room for six people to sleep comfortably. It is very useful having two toilets but a little hand basin would have been nice! We all had a most comfortable and enjoyable holiday, including our dog who was provided with a bed and bowls! Thank you!

  • "Well stocked with kitchen and bathroom accessories."

Comfortable, spacious and every utility worked with no issue. We would use again and the street pass was a must which was included in the price. Only issue was it was a little tired but that's probably due to being mid season. Like said will be back.

5-10 minute walk to all the major attractions and in a very quiet street so lots of time to chill out and relax as well. The garden was a lovely space to relax. The house was very clean and it had lots of lovely period features. We would definitely like to come back and stay here again!

It was a great location, warm and comfortable. Our only complaints relate to being unable to find the appliance manual, the cleanliness of the draws in the front bedroom and cleanliness of the washing machine detergent tray which we washed before using.

  • "We had some incorrect information before checking in from the website we booked on."

However, we could get hold of Skyes on arrival and they managed to get in contact with the home owners for the correct code to enter the house. The place itself was very nice and warm, and very centrally located, making it easy to get around. The pictures accurately describes the house. We we're also able to contact the team half way through our stay when we accidently got locked out and the owners were kind enough to come round and let us in. The team at Skyes also handled the situation perfectly and rang us back to check on us after.
