  • “Had a lovely holiday at The Garden House.”

The cottage was very clean and roomy and had everything you needed including a lovely welcome pack on arrival with bread, milk, butter, tea and coffee and a very nice bottle of wine. The kitchen was very well equipped and there were a good selection of dvd's to watch. The bedrooms were very comfortable but we hadn't realised that there wasn't a wardrobe in the upstairs bedroom, perhaps should have done considering it was in the eaves. There was a stand to put some clothes on and plenty of drawer space so it wasn't really a problem. The bathrooms were great with plenty of room. We sat in the garden on a couple of occasions for coffee and it was very pleasant, even for early October. Rachel was very helpful and although she lived within the grounds we never felt overlooked. Plenty to do around the area and some nice places to eat including the Throckmorton Arms and the Moat House, both observing the social distance guidelines and we felt very safe eating there. All in all a lovely holiday and we hope to stay at The Garden House again soon.

Alcester has a surprising number of public houses, restaurants and take away food outlets, as well as a varied range of independent shops and plenty of antiques dealers and art and craft shops that are well worth a visit. There are many fairs and festivals in the town including the Court Leet in early June which is a charity street market and the mop fair in October where amusement rides, side stalls and food booths line the streets. The Alcester and Forest of Arden Food Festival is held every May and October and attracts thousands of visitors who enjoy local quality food and produce. Within easy reach is the historical town of Stratford-upon-Avon set on the banks of the River Avon. This is the birthplace of William Shakespeare and is home to the world renowned Royal Shakespeare Company as well as excellent restaurants and bars.
