  • "We had a wonderful stay at Ballinliss cottage."

It came fully equipped with everything we needed for our family of 6 even toys to keep our little boy entertained! The welcome basket was a lovely surprise and we tucked straight into it after a long day travelling. The cottage is situated in the most idyllic setting overlooking Slieve Gullion and we were less than an hour away from the furthest attraction we wanted to visit on our stay making it the perfect location. The cottage was clean, comfortable and spacious - a real home from home. We would highly recommend it and will definitely be back! A special thank you to Eithne for making us feel so welcome!

Wonderful hospitality basket was there on arrival with milk and butter in the fridge already. Great contact with host to ensure easy settling in and a wonderful courtesy call once we were in to mention a tiny issue and set our minds at ease that we hadn't caused it. Loved our stay here. Thank you

  • "We really loved our stay at Ballinliss Cottage."

The views from the windows are spectacular and the house is very well equipped and spacious. There was a most generous welcome package on our arrival. The host family was always on hand when questions occurred. A lot of interesting places are easily accessible either by car or by train. It's the perfect place for exploring Northern Ireland as well as the area around Dublin and the Boyne Valley. We would definitely stay again.

The cottage itself was spotless and brilliantly equipped with a lovely modern open plan kitchen/dinner. The hosts had provided some local farm milk, bread and a few other bits on arrival which was perfect after a long journey there. We'd definitely recommend the cottage as a great place to stay in Northern Ireland.

  • "This is an amazing property in the most beautiful of surroundings."

You could sit for hours in the lounge and just watch the weather roll across the hills via the panoramic windows. The property is modern, luxurious and the perfect base for our family for the week (2 adults and 2 children). The property itself is perched on the hillside but you’re just five minutes drive away from access to the main roads to Belfast and Dublin, making it a perfect base to explore. The host is absolutely lovely and there are so many nice touches, from an amazing welcome pack (including Easter eggs for our kids) to everything you can possibly need for a stay at the cottage. Even things like the bird food are provided in just the right quantities for your stay so that you can keep our winged friends feeding outside the kitchen window when you’re in the kitchen. We would love to return if we get the chance.

I had my wife, 2 kids ages 3/7 and my mother-in-law with us. The home was perfect, the views were amazing, the Ring of Gullion is the last word. The owners are the nicest people you could ever ask for and the home had everything you could ever need. Will definitely be back to this home in the near future.

Hubby and I took my 100 year old mother home (From Australia) to see her family & friends. She was born & bred in Newry. The cottage was lovely, county feel but only10 minutes from town (Newry). Picturesque views from every window, warm, cosy & homely. Lovely little touches such as fresh flowers & gift basket. Eithne & Thomas though of everything, even a wee hot water bottle, which mum cuddled every nite. Home away from home, we would definitely love to come back. Thank you again Eithne & Thomas xo

  • "Having never been to Northern Ireland before, we could not have picked a better place in which to stay."

Ballinliss cottage is situated just outside Newry in the stunning landscape of the Mourne Mountains. There are views from literally every window, with gorgeous sunsets if you're lucky, but even watching cloud over the mountains was great! Overall, the cottage is larger than it appears in the photos, with enough space for us as a family of 5. Spotlessly clean with an enviable kitchen and a lovely large shower. Bedrooms a good size, lots of storage and comfy. Nearly everything you could need was supplied, from a lovely welcome basket of goodies, flowers on the table, huge towels and even a small supply of toiletries in the bathroom, should you have forgotten. We did lose hot water on a couple if days but this was swiftly sorted out with no real inconvenience. Do I have any negative things to say? Just one, teeny, tiny niggle (which did not spoil our stay, just personal preference), really didn't like the internal glass doors, especially on main bedroom and bathroom (sorry!) Overall, we had the best 2 weeks stay and 100% recommend.

  • "The perfect place!"

We had a great week here, it was spotlessly clean. Very good and sturdy furniture throughout. The fresh bread, milk, local honey and eggs were great as we couldn't go to the shop until the following lunchtime. The views are breathtaking and we had fun watching the sheep, cows and horses in the neighbouring fields. The location is perfect too. Close to both airports and only an hour to Belfast, where there are plenty of things to do for any age. Even close by only about 10 minutes drive is Newry, with plenty of shopping opportunities or the giant's lair playground and walk. We felt very comfortable here and will definitely be back.

We have been to a lot of cottages but the owner has far excelled themselves with the amount of things to enable our stay was enjoyable. The house is sublime and everything we needed was there. Eithne and Thomas are excellent hosts and live next door so if anything was asked (I couldn't work central heating) they were right there. This is a superb base for a visit to Ireland. • "We had a lovely week at Ballinliss cottage."

The cottage was fully equipped and more. Spotlessly clean. A lovely welcome basket of goodies (bread, eggs cereal etc.) as well as essentials in the fridge (milk spread etc.) and cupboards (tea coffee etc.). Fresh flowers on arrival and even a couple of Easter chocolate bunnies ! The views from the bungalow are spectacular of the local country side. The bungalow feels like you are in the middle of the countryside miles away from towns etc. but in fact Newry is only a ten minute drive. Plenty of local walks to enjoy and the drive over Slieve Gullion was amazing. The lovely town of Carlingford is only a short drive and well worth a visit. Thank you Eithne and Thomas.

Lovely surroundings, close to Newry city centrum, Killeavy Castle, Slieve Gullion etc. Owners sat out a small basket with eggs, bread, cereal and fresh milk in the fridge, nice little surprise when we arrived. I would recommend to maybe have a instruction/manual for the oil heating if there are people that are not used to this type of heating.

Thank you Linn for your lovely feedback. Your family were a pleasure to have and perfect guests. I'm going to take your suggestion and make up an instruction sheet. Thank you Property Owner

  • "Ballinliss is everything a holiday cottage should be."

In fact I’m sure many would like to live in it full time. The kitchen dinner is designed, with superb panoramic windows to make full use of the excellent setting of the property. The delightful owners, live next door, which is most reassuring if problems arise.( We had none). So much to see and do. Newry/Armagh are very cllose.Belfast with its world class facilities is less than an hour away. We particularly liked the coastline of County Down-both beautiful and unspoilt. Our break was in February, and although you gamble with the weather you might get at this time of the year, the big plus is you have no crowds to contend with. Cannot praise this part of the world enough, and residing in Ballinliss is the perfect way to enjoy it.

Thank you Neil for your kind words. We are delighted you enjoyed both our cottage and our townland. You have been excellent guests and are welcome back any time. Property Owner
