  • "Beautiful, cosy, traditional cottage in a stunning location and easy access to all Northern Ireland has to offer."

The owner Malachy was welcoming and helpful without being intrusive. I cannot speak highly enough of the cottage its owner, the area, and its people.

  • "The cottage is beautifully situated on the side of a mountain."

The roads are good and the cottage is just a short distance from the A1 to Dublin. A huge Eurospar is between it and the cottage and is so well stocked with both healthy food and cream buns! There are many excellent places to eat, ranging in price but good food and service without exception. The cottage is beside Killeavy Old Churches, an interesting ancient monument resting quietly under the most beautiful Beech trees. The churchyard is filed with so many naturally occurring wild flowers and the views through the trees are stunning. Behind the cottage there is a field which is well managed but free for wild flowers to grow. It is well populated with Butterflies, Bees and all sorts of buzzing life. The air is filled with bird song. The cottage was warm to enter. Everything clean and neat and an excellent comfortable lounge. Our host was welcoming, friendly and helpful.

  • "We had a lovely, relaxing holiday staying at Katie's Cottage."

The location was very peaceful and the cottage had everything we needed for our break, including a welcome hamper which was great. The owner, Malachy, was a fantastic host and gave us some excellent suggestions for places we could go in the area and made sure that we had everything we needed. I loved it.

Thanks Kimberley glad you loved your stay and appreciated all the area has to offer … Kind regards Malachy Property Owner

  • "Lovely property, as always."

Some problems encountered during this winter stay with sufficient hot water, without reheating, for three people to have baths/showers in succession and also for washing up.Kitchen equipment now much improved, but still lack of basics such as serving dishes, cafetiere or genuinely sharp knives. Also need in bedrooms for chests of drawers, so clothes can be unpacked and for fixed mirrors. Apart from that, a beautifully located and eqipped cottage, ideal for a small group. We all enjoyed our stay, greatly.

We're glad that you enjoyed another stay at Katie's cottage, thank you for booking with us again. We have had no previous problems with hot water in the cottage, If you had notified us of this during your stay we could have investigated further. We have checked the water following your stay and found there to be no issues. We have a fully equipped kitchen which has everything you could need for a self catering stay but should you have any special requests like a cafetiere please ask us prior and we can confirm if this is available for your booking. Thanks for your feedback, we are happy that you all enjoyed your stay and loved the beautiful location we have to offer. Property Owner

  • "Beautiful, comfortable cottage in a gorgeous location."

No dishwasher, but otherwise perfect, with comfortable beds, sofas, large bath and powerful shower. Wonderful views from every aspect of the spacious garden and peaceful and tranquil, whilst being a short drive from good shops and nice walks and cafes. Slieve Gullion Forest Park and Killeavy Castle are lovely and the old Churches site and hillside shrine are on your doorstep. Our landlord, Malachy, was very helpful and friendly and interested in making sure we had a great holiday, whilst being very "laid back" and relaxed. Our nearby family loved to visit us and we will be sure to return as soon as we can.

  • "This is the most beautiful cottage in the mountains."

Malachy and his wife and kids are super kind people. My sat nav didn't take me to the right place and Malachy came and got me. If this happens to you the cottage is just one minute away over the top of the hill and on the left hand side beside Killeavy graveyard. I got to meet the family again as the field in front was being harvested by the family for hay and my three year old was invited up to play with the kids. He had so much fun he was sad to see everyone leave. I got to put my feet up outside, read my book and watch the fun. Slieve Gullion forest park is at the bottom of the road and also on the right you will pass Killeavy castle, were their is lovely walks. The walk up to the white cross is next door to the cottage and it doesn't take long. The views are so beautiful. I will be back to this place again. Thank you!!!
