  • "Would highly recommend Minmore cottages."

The cottages are based in a tranquil location with amazing views overlooking the mountains. Part of the wicklow way is only a short drive away and there are many walking trails to explore near Minmore cottages. Shillelagh village is a 2 minute drive or within walking distance. A huge bonus for us is that the accomodation was dog friendly and our doggies loved coming home to the open fire. The briquettes and logs welcome pack were a lovely touch. Colin our host was very welcoming and on call to answer any questions. Looking foward to our next trip.

  • "Well-equipped house with beautiful views."

We received a warm welcome with fresh scones! The owners are lovely hosts who were very helpful. Plenty to see in this region - we can recommend St Mullins and the Blackstair Mountains. Also worth a visit is the 1798 Centre in Enniscorthy, esp. on a rainy day. Would highly recommend this holiday house.

  • "Beautiful location and an extremely friendly welcome!"

The house is bright and the layout is spacious, very clean and the kitchen has everything you could need! The view is beautiful and you can sit out and enjoy it, surrounded by fields and peaceful and quiet! There is another house next to it but there is plenty of space between the houses and around them for children to play and dogs ( we have a well behaved, friendly and trained dog so he was able to roam free outside the house without causing any nuisance). We found plenty to do around this area plenty of lovely walks and visit to the Wicklow National Park. The owners are lovely friendly people and greet you with lovely fresh baked scones delicious! Loved it and felt at home here and would definitely return; thank you for an enjoyable stay!

(We even had some home made scones waiting for us!) We would definitely recommend stopping here as a good base to tour the east coast and Wicklow mountains. Thanks again!

Four if us had a great week, exploring the area. The owners were great people and went out of there way to assure we had a great time. We loved the home made scones & jam on our arrival. Also the home made chutney. We highly recommend this cottage & area.

  • "This was the most beautifully situated cottage with lovely views."

We were fortunate to have a few days gorgeous weather. The children loved playing in the grounds and Janet was most welcoming leaving us lovely scones and home made jam, milk etc. The only reason I haven’t given it “straight A’s” for comfort is that I was suffering with a really sore back and the bed was low.

Good for hiking but need car to get to places of interest. Pet friendly and fabulous views from dining areas and patio. Owners very friendly and everything ran smoothly. Some lovely touches with fresh scones and home made jam and things in fridge to welcome us after long drive there from the North.

About the location

SHILLELAGH, COUNTY WICKLOW

Tullow 10 miles; Gorey 16 miles.

The village of Shillelagh in County Wicklow is a seventeenth century 'planned estate' village, with appealing architecture including attractive terraced cottages and a courthouse with clock tower. The Shillelagh stick, a well-crafted blackthorne stick originally used as a fighting weapon but now often used as an ornamental or walking stick, originated just outside the village, and visitors can visit workshops to watch local craftsmen continuing to produce this piece of Wicklow history. For walkers, the Wicklow Way runs past the village, and the nearby Tomnafinnoge Oak Wood, one of the largest remaining oak woods in Ireland, makes a lovely spot for an autumn stroll. Coolattin Golf Club is just outside the village, while slightly further afield, the Wicklow Mountains, city of Dublin, and 'Ballykissangel' village of Avoca make superb destinations for an enjoyable day trip. The nearest beach and harbour is a 35 minute drive away at the seaside holiday resort of Courtown. Slightly further afield, you can enjoy the Blue Flag, world-class white sandy beaches at Brittan Bay (45 minutes) and Curraghclose (50 minutes). Both are well worth visiting, whatever the weather.
