On the ground floor, guests will find an open plan living area with a well-equipped fitted kitchen, a dining area and a cosy sitting area complete with a woodburning stove, where you can all relax and unwind together after a day of sightseeing.
For the kids, there is a separate ‘chill out’ room with table football, the perfect backup for a rainy day!
Upstairs, four double bedrooms, two with en-suite shower rooms, complete the accommodation.
To the front lies a large, spacious lawned garden, adjacent to the owner’s hen house, where guests can collect fresh eggs each morning!
The historic village of Ballinamuck is home to a local shop, a pub and a Post Office, as well as the Ballinamuck Heritage Centre, which houses details and facts about the famous battle that took place in 1798.
The area is a paradise for walking, cycling or simply doing nothing, with endless green hills, lakes and boglands as far as they eye can see, making this the perfect cottage to relax and unwind from the stress of everyday life.
There is even something for fisherman to enjoy, with Lough Gowna close by, stocking pike, perch, bream.
Further afield, attractions and activities include golf, archery, go-karting and even zorbing!
For history enthusiasts, the portal tomb at Aughnacliffe, or the Motte and Bailey Castle in Granard, are certainly worth a visit!

The historic village of Ballinamuck is situated in the north of County Longford, close to the borders of Leitrim and Cavan. Literally translated to ‘mouth of the ford of the pig’, Ballinamuck is a wonderful area to discover the mass of farmland, lakes, low lying hills and pristine boglands of North Longford. Ballinamuck was once the site of the Battle of Ballinamuck and there is a local heritage centre which houses an interesting exhibition of the events of the battle. The centre also offers guidance on local walks, which retrace the steps of those who fought during the battle. Fishing, cycling and walking are very popular in this region, with endless miles of unspoilt countryside to discover and explore. The local pub is an old thatch pub with another large pub where you can have a nice evening meal also. The village has a large play area for kids and a basketball court also. Just a short drive away is the vibrant town of Longford and the impressive St Mel’s Cathedral, offering a superbly central base for touring the heart of the country, with Dublin, Galway, Sligo, Enniskillen and Mayo, at most, two hours away!
