  • "This was a brilliant cottage, everything you need but especially Wi-Fi which can be hard to get in rural Ireland."

A very cosy tv room and the heating works very well in the whole house. Owner always on hand if you need her and genuinely welcoming you to Carran. 20 mins from Kilfenora, Corrofin and Lisdoonvarna and Lahinch Doolin and cliffs of Moher a little further. Brilliant stay here in Carran and would definitely come back. Top marks Theresa

  • "A wonderful relaxing place to stay."

...cant recomend it enough. The house is very well equipped but still retains it's authenticity and character. Beautiful walks all around - a place to choose if you wish to unwind and recharge. We really loved our stay here and having stayed in many holiday rentals across Ireland , this cottage stands out as the house and setting we relaxed most in.

It is well situated in the centre of the Burren with a couple of lovely walks from the cottage and many interesting places to visit in the area. We enjoyed a stroll to the Burren Perfumery which has an excellent cafe

Quiet location. Central for exploring 'The Burren'. Everything you would normally need and it all worked. Weather wasn't great, but not a lot anyone can do about that.

It is a lovely cottage, much larger than the picture suggests, a beautiful location and everything as listed in the brochure - but the brochure did not mention the absence of Wi Fi or mobile phone signal

Theresa kept in touch with us while we were there. It's a perfect location for touring Clare and lots of information is provided. We really enjoyed our stay. Thanks.

  • "This is a lovely well equipped comfortable cottage set in a quiet village."

Cottage is larger than it appears in pictures. We had a lovely week there. For us it was an ideal place for touring the Burren area. Pub which serves very good food few minutes walk away. Be aware that the nearest shop is a few miles away. As there is a good sized fridge and chest freezer in property we stocked up on first day so it wasn't a problem to us.

The pictures and reality in this case matched up to exactly what it promised. Beautiful. Attention to detail was amazing. Dainty. Amazing location close to everything you’d like to visit. And then Theresa and her sister Christina were just lovely and so accommodating. Don’t hesitate to book if you’re lucky enough to get a vacancy

  • "This is a lovely cottage, lovingly maintained by a very welcoming host, in a fine location at the heart of the burren."

The weather took a bit of a turn during our stay as an Atlantic storm hit the area, with howling winds and torrential rain - this is the west of Ireland after all!.Although this brought a damp chill to the air, the open fire soon made the place cosy again. This cottage was all we hoped for, we really enjoyed our stay.

  • "A lovely cottage with all the amenities you need in full working order."

Sited in the middle of Burren upland close to the major holiday destinations. Recommend walking around the village on way marked paths, visiting Birds of Prey Centre at Allwee cave, boat trip around Cliffs of Moher if you want to see where they filmed the Cave chapter in Harry Potter film. Highlight of the week boat trip on Dolphin watch plus much more from Carriagaholt on loop head. Not so enjoyable Cliffs of Moher from the top as so overcrowded or the local pub Cassidy's. Would recoment this holiday.

About the location

CARRON, COUNTY CLARE

Lisdoonvarna 13 miles; Ennis 17 miles.

The village of Carron is the only village in the Burren uplands. The name Carron is thought to derive from the Gaelic word Cairn which means 'a mound of stones'. These cairns or stones can be found on each of the mountains in the Burren. In the village there’s a pub, along with wonderful views over the Burren, and in the area there’s three recognised walking routes. Within reach is the spa town of Lisdoonvarna, which is home to the Spa Wells Health Centre, pubs offering traditional Irish music, shops and restaurants. The town of Ennis is also within driving distance with its narrow streets, market square, shops and restaurants. Other attractions of note are the superb Cliffs of Moher and the Burren National Park. Carron is an ideal base for exploring this part of County Clare. Both the nearest beach and Wild Atlantic way are 7 miles away. Further afield it is possible to reach Galway (28 miles) or Dublin (162 miles) and it is only 30 miles to Shannon Airport.

Please Note: the shower over bath is due to be replaced with a shower cubicle that will be in use from April 2023
