  • "The Lucida House is a lovely house situated very central in the town."

At the arrival on Saturday the house was so cold, that we had to call the owner. She came round the next day and solved the problem: we got the timer set from 7 o’clock AM to 11 PM and not only for few hours a day. The radiator in the lounge didn’t work, so a plumber came in on Monday and fixed it. The house has sleeping rooms for eight people – all though two of the double beds were only 130 cm - and had only three wine glasses and four spoons. We picked more up at the owner. We would like to recommend the house to others but the owner has to check the house herself before she rents it. Best regards Mrs. Larsen

About the location

Kilkee 9 miles; Ennis 29 miles; Shannon Airport 40 miles.

The coastal town of Kilrush is located near the mouth of the River Shannon in the south-west of County Clare. An historic town, one of the listed Heritage Towns of Ireland, Kilrush was once an important Shannon port and is today home to a modern Marina and Heritage Centre. Take a boat trip from the marina and explore the lovely waters of the Shannon Estuary, with its many picturesque riverside towns and villages and resident population of bottle-nosed dolphins! Enjoy a drive along the Wild Atlantic Way, the longest defined coastal touring route in the world, which goes through Kilrush. Alternatively, take a ferry to nearby Scattery Island, a 6th century monastic island featuring the ruins of several churches and a unique 10th century round tower. Kilrush offers supermarkets, traditional pubs, restaurants and an excellent 18 hole golf course, and golfers will also enjoy the Greg Norman designed golf links at the Trump international Golf Course, Doonbeg, which is within easy reach. Just 9 miles away is the seaside resort of Kilkee, which boasts a horse-shoe bay, 18-hole golf course, restaurants, pubs, cafes and good walking routes, and is the starting point for the Loop Head Drive along the rugged Atlantic coastline, offering wonderful coastal scenery. All the sights along the West Coast of Clare - Lahinch, the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren region - as well as the town on Ennis, Bunratty Castle and Folk Park and the numerous other attractions are all in easy driving distance. If you feel the need to travel further afield, Shannon Ferry is just minutes away enabling you to explore the neighbouring counties of Limerick and Kerry.
