  • "Staying in the Merchant's house was a beautiful experience, it felt so calm, homely and charming."

There is a lovely atmosphere in the house and we cannot wait to book again as soon as we can, it is a perfect place to stay, has everything you would need, really quiet despite its central location in town. The stairs to the first floor is a bit steep and the thread's a bit short so caution needed. We really loved it, Paul and family were so helpful, the very best of people and a fabulous house and stay.

  • "Great location and people."

Just aa few niggles that lets it down like freezer was all frosted up still with food in, condition of some kitchen equipment past its best.. Otherwise great place.

Thank you Stuart for taking the time to review your stay with us. We are so sorry that we fell short of your expectations. • "Good place to stay for exploring County Clare and the coastal drive is lovely."

Unfortunately some local pubs/restaurants weren’t open during our stay but we found some nice places to eat nevertheless - and all within walking distance to the property. Hospitality and service everywhere was outstanding.

  • "A wonderful townhouse centrally located on the west coast's "Wild Atlantic Way" The house was clean and tidy with all of the facilities as advertised."

Paul proved to be a great host who couldn't do enough for us. The house is within stumbling (hic) distance of at least 2 pubs which serve food and is conveniently located for shops in the town centre. Despite it's town centre location the area felt quiet and relaxed with minimal traffic noise in the evenings. Everyone we met was friendly and welcoming and we would be happy to stay there again!

  • "Great place to stay We really enjoyed our stay at the Merchant's House."

Really good location in the centre of Kilrush. Great evenings at Crotty's and Buggles for Irish music. We covered the coast from Galway to the Dingle peninsula. Also went to the Aran Isles-beautiful and fascinating. A really good meal at P.Morrissey's in Doonbeg. We liked Kilrush, Kilkee, Galway, Limerick, Kinvarra, Ballyheigue, the Burren, the cliffs of Moher and the cave at Doolin. A great holiday with a great base at Kilrush. A lovely, comfortable place to stay. Thanks to Paul and the family. We would definitely stay here again.

  • "We found this accomodation to be far above what we had anticipated and as a result it was a home rather than holiday accomodation."

It is central to the Kilrush town and only a very short walk to the local facilities such as pubs, butchers, cafes,,etc. There is an excellent Italian restaurant just around the corner. The only issue of access is the stairs which older persons should consider. We would not hesitate to return there when we come back possibly next year. The owner Paul was always available by phone and provided all information in the most friendly manner.

The owner Paul and his family were very approachable, friendly and gave us a real Irish welcome. My teenagers enjoyed their daily run to Cappagh and shopping in the local bakery, sweet shops and listening to traditional live Irish music in the street and at Crotty's pub. A holiday we will always remember.

Lovingly restored and beautifully furnished, these Kilrush homes offer wonderful period charm, boasting a number of original features dating from the property's beginnings in 1811 and subsequent history through the intervening 200 years. In 1963 the Fleadh Cheoil was held in Kilrush and The Dubliners played in what is now the kitchen of The Merchant’s Store. The timberwork and coving are faithfully presented in a style akin to that enjoyed by the milling merchant who first called the property home in the early 19th century. Antique furniture brings a certain level of luxury and visitors can take a step back in time and relax in the original cast iron clawed leg bath found in The Merchant’s House. For those that appreciate easy access to the amenities of a town, this Kilrush cottage townhouse is centrally located, perfect for the many shops, pubs and restaurants while the town is also home to a small beach, pier and marina. Kilrush is situated on the Wild Atlantic Way, a scenic driving route, which incorporates pretty coastal villages, walks and surfing beaches making it ideal for people of all ages whatever your taste of things to do. Upon leaving Kilrush, the Clare coast lays claim to some of the most beautiful beaches in Ireland while the spectacular Cliffs of Moher are less than an hour's drive. Whether you decide to explore the sights of this beautiful part of Ireland or to indulge in some traditional music and a pint of 'the black stuff' in one of the many welcoming pubs in the town, you can be rest assured that your charming Kilrush cottage townhouse will be waiting to welcome you home at the end of another fantastic day.
