“There were lots of good things about Rusheen cottage.”
It was generously equipped with things such as washing machine and dishwasher tablets ( not always the case) and there were teabags, salt and pepper and a few other things in the kitchen cupboard, which was nice. Some holiday cottages are stripped bare before your arrive! Towels were plentiful and the owner kindly offered to replenish them halfway through the holiday, although we did not need her to. The cottage has lovely wooden floors and furniture throughout and a warm ambience. The use of heating is included in the price and we did need to use it to dry our wet clothes and to warm up after rainy outings, of which there were many. We were glad the heating was not metered.
The garden was, as described, enclosed and we enjoyed that. After a few days however, our dog realised he could jump over the wall and run off, so we couldn't actually give him the run of the garden as we had hoped.
The main disappointment for us was the location of the cottage. Presumably since it was built twenty years ago, a nearby estate of houses has sprung up in front of Rusheen cottage, between the cottage and the sea, so the sea can only be viewed over many modern, identical rooftops. Rusheen Cottage itself is thatched and built of old stone. But it was a shame to find the surrounding area dominated by so many identical and much less attractive new houses.
For that reason, we wouldn't go back even though the cottage itself has many good features.
